What a great find of a winery along the Fredricksberg wine trail! Alexander Vineyards stands out for their excellent wines and beautiful surroundings. Our server, Madelyn gave us personal attention, serving us while we enjoyed the view from the patio. The wines are from grapes from Europe (France, Germany, Austria, Spain) barreled and bottled there, then flown all the way to this winery. I had a glass of Crianza (Tempernillo from Roja, Spain). Very good! Ambience is calm and mellow. Next door is a fenced area that was full of colts and their mommas. Adorable! Inside tasting room is contemporary with a clean and welcoming design. With so many wineries to choose from in the area, Alexander Vineyards is a true winner! read more

Interesting little gem along grape highway. We were looking for a quiet, nice ambience and good wine on a Saturday which in any wine country area is known as big money day. That means busy busy busy. Fortunately we hit at a good time. Not too busy and at an easy going pace. Self admitted wine snob that I am i prefer to choose a glass over wine tasting. We looked over the lineup and the Montepulciano 2022 was calling me. My wife latched on to the Tempranillo. No grapes are grown here it all happens on foreign ground. From grape to juice to bottle and label. Everything happens in Spain, France etc....interesting concept. We enjoyed our glasses that were served by young Madeline new to the industry and very nice. We were also enjoying new foals/colts on the property next door. Six mother horses and thier babies. The outside patio and grounds are very relaxing. I recommend Alexander Vineyard. read more

THE BIG: Old world centric wines from Alexander Vineyards right along the 290 strip of wineries. Plenty of parking and a relatively small tasting room. They have a small pond outside that isn't noticeable coming in but when you're in the tasting room, it makes the outside so aesthetic. THE BLACK AND WHITE: We came here at 2pm on a Saturday and it was packed! Granted we rolled in right after a bachelorette party. The staff was great and handled everyone like a pro. We sat down a few minutes afterwards with no problem. There were two options: curated and premium. The premium wines looked amazing however, the tasting was $60. The premium had more burgundy wines and included some 1er cru vineyards. The curated had more bordeaux wines, which were still amazing. Both options concluded with a nice, honey sauterne. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a flight of the curated wines (6 in total) came out to be $30. We will be back to taste more of these old world wines especially since they are my wife's favorites. read more

I absolutely LOVE Alexanders. While not local, he doesn't claim to be Texas. Or worse, be California and open a winery using CA grapes. We go way back to the old tasting room. And I admire him as a person and a father. After suffering a family tragedy, he has found a way to carry on. Something I honestly don't think I could have done. It truly told me a lot about the man I only knew from occasionally saying hello. Why Alexanders? If he doesn't have Texas wines? Claude, actually knows French wines and hands picks the wines he features. And we have never had a bad wine. Another thing I love about Alexander Vineyards is that the offer dessert wines. They also offer one of the best charcuterie boards. The only negative thing I have ever had to say is seating. The way he chose to lay out so many tasting stations took square footage over seating. So if they are busy,or having an event, seating is obsolete. He has added tables outside but that depends on the unpredictable Texas weather. I have several wineries that I have similar struggles with and sadly don't recommend or take groups because of seating. I took a group to Beckers on Main because they have the intimate members lounge. My group took over most of the one section and spent several hours. We not only bought bottles to drink while we were there. We bought bottles for later. It is hard when you really like a venue but pass because of seating limitations because I don't like to stand at a tasting bar. read more

We were visiting from North Carolina and really wanted to stick to exploring Texas wine, but luckily this fit into our schedule last minute. I'm glad it did because we really enjoyed our time here. Did a tasting with Christy, and had such a wonderful experience. It's not on the shuttle - and to preserve the level of the experience I don't believe it ever will be. The wines are fabulous, and the ambiance was relaxed, but upscale. I didn't intend to purchase any bottles, but the Bordeaux Rosé and the Graves Blanc were both so delicious I had to add them to my collection. The Tempranillo Reserva was also wonderful. You've heard the expression of "great things come in small packages", I give you Alexander Vineyards. Depending on what your group's intentions are (tasting or purchasing bottles), you are seated either in the yard (tasting) or on the outskirts (bottles). Just a note: grapes are not grown on the vineyard, as it is imported from Europe, but that just means you can be a world traveler all in the luxury of staying in your seat. Alexander Vineyards is a must visit while you are in Fredericksburg! My friend and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon about an hour before close and left with a customized tasting from the owner. I can't say how great our experience was, the wine was excellent and the charcuterie board we had was great. The wine menu is curated by the owner from various regions of Italy, France, and Germany and is outstanding. They are also completing construction of a beautiful tasting room this fall, can't wait to go back and see it! read more

Initially what attracted me was the sign that says "our tasting room may suck but our wine is great ". I couldn't be happier that we stopped!! The owner is super nice and his wine steward Dayna is the bomb dignity! She was so knowledgeable in all the wine they import . In addition I had a great side conversation with her about life in general and she is just a gem! We s been coming to the town for about 2 years and stopping at all the same places ...this one just added to our list of permanent stops. We came by Alexander Vineyards after receiving multiple recommendations for a boutique winery that did red wines. It's kind of strange at first, because the tasting room is located in a house, but once you open the door, you see a modern tasting room. There are a few different small tasting bars perfect for a party of two to three people. It offers your group some privacy, yet you're never too far away from others who are also indulging in wine. There are two winery dogs that love to be pet. I went to take a picture of one and he gave me this look like "you really just want to take my picture and not pet me?" The dogs are really easy going and usually just find a place to plop down and take a little nap until something exciting catches their eyes. The day we were there only one champagne was available for tasting, but not even available for purchase. It was kind of a let down since we had really wanted to start our first winery of the day with bubbles. This is the only winery in the area that does not source local grapes. All of the grapes come from France and that is why they can call their champagne, champagne instead of sparkling wine. They also paired a few of our wines with cheese and chocolates. It was a really nice touch. We weren't huge fans of the wines on their owns, but once paired, we were impressed. read more

That's fine, but if they're going to do that, I would expect them to be a little better. Our waitress even described some of them as "table wines." Overall, just pretty average experience. read more

Very pleasant location with open fields around you and nice outdoor seating. Tasting room is small, new, and sort of like walking up to a backdoor to a house. Sold out of any champagne unfortunately. A bit different than other wineries in the area, in that he's partnering with established european wine makers and rebranding wines from various regions. While that made for some nicely done wines, it was a bit off of a Texas wine experience. It'll still be fun to see what styles of wines they have on future trips, and how they expand into more Texas sourced wine. read more

Betsy! Thank you for your excellent service. I learned a great deal about wine and really enjoyed the offerings here. They only offer grapes from outside TX, it seems most of their wines were from France or Italy. We liked that you could make your own tasting selections and that we were able to relax outdoors while the wines were brought out to us. I found the wine to be superior to most of the other wineries in the area. I will say from the street this place is very unassuming, we thought it was private residence and then saw a trailer with their brand and realized we had arrived. Bonus if you drive a Tesla- they do have a free plug and they waved us into driveway so we could charge! I was disappointed that both the cheese plate and the Grand Cru had sold out the night before at a member event. After drinking their other options, I bet their bubs are great! Cheers AV! The wines I tasted here were by far my favorites of all the vineyards we went to on our trip to Fredericksburg! The tasting room is quaint and unassuming, but the wine will blow you away. The tastings were paired with amazing blue cheese, olive oil, and chocolate and it was just so delightful how well they went together, and really changed or brought up different flavors in the wines. And the lady who did our tasting, I think her name was Dana? Was insanely knowledgeable about the different wine regions, vines and their ages, and just really taught us so much throughout the tasting. I highly highly recommend this place!!! They are no longer in the trailer and now have a nice, small, intimate tasting room. Follow the sign past the trailer to get to the tasting room. Dana was amazing and very informative during our Champagne tasting. 4 tastes for $20 but this is fabulous champagne. The first one was beautiful - I could drink it any day of the week and twice on Sundays ;) The second Champagne is very flavorful and I think it screams out to be paired with a triple cream Brie cheese or maybe some jarlsburg cheese and almonds? Very complex. The third was also delicious and the rose was good but I didn't like it as much as the first 3. There are two very nice dogs at the tasting room but it was also very clean and they were very well behaved so I don't think anyone will have issues with allergies. All of the wines are made abroad and imported here so the wines start around $50 a bottle. read more

We originally went to Alexander in July of 2015 and it was a perfect late afternoon with Champagne. We revisited last weekend and found some things exactly the same and some different. I love the "our tasting room may suck, but our wines sure don't" sign. Once inside the little tasting room, we tried the Grande Cru I believe it was and meh. Unfortunately they were out of most of their Champers, so we moved over to the whites and reds. We both got a glass, hung outside in the nice weather and sipped away. We sat under an awesome tree and took in the quiet surroundings. The winery is sparse at best, but that's fine by us. We popped back in and picked up a bottle of each and headed on our way. Small winery with tasting room as a trailer. However, the small tasting room does not do the wine offered justice. Upon entering the tasting room, we were welcomed with open arms to start a tasting. They have 3 different tastings offered, all with a variety of wines for each palate. Wines are delicious and unique in that they offer wines from various counties. The tastings are led by very knowledgable hosts. Unfortunately, there were sold out of champagne during our time of visit, but that did not deter me from buying some wines from their selections. Don't be fool by first glance of this vineyard, I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a unique and amazing tasting opportunity. read more
