I had to pull over and write this review. I've been a customer of Hye Optic for a couple years now and there's no place I'd rather spend my money. From the moment you walk in you feel like family, not just another person. The attention Emmanuel gives to his customers is impeccable. He has an eye for style as his store is equipped with a vast array of glasses from Gucci to Tom Ford and In-between. There's definitely something for everyone. I unfortunately had my Tom Ford's snatched and I ran right in to find something else to shield me from this LA SHADE (pun intended). After I tried on approximately 10 pairs of glasses (all of which I wanted to purchase), Emmanuel helped me pick the perfect pair. I see that he/they have 5 stars across the board, and I'm not surprised. I had a pair of versace shades, and I wear glasses always. I've enjoyed turning a nice pair into a prescription now & then. I got this pair and I went to places in west hollywood or glendale and i price shopped... really these people giving me a summation of 8 different lens types and things like that all of them with different prices & I didn't know what they were talking about really (i know what polarized means I'm not dumb) and these fancy options were quoted anywhere from $140-220... for the job of making my sunglasses into my prescription. I didnt want to pay it. Seriously? I checked out Hye and this is what a lot of us are looking for in la really- an unexpected place off the beaten path or not that provides exceptional service/results at a reasonable price rather than twice as much for a pretentious place. It's rare that I have such a positive experience of a business and come to review about it immediately, but it's immediately obvious how these guys got a 5 star yelp profile. My mom is 99% blind and on a super fixed income. So when her frames broke, we were 'hoping' to find a pair of affordable frames that would also fit her old lenses. I expected them to say 'no, they won't fit right' or 'we can't do that,' but these guys didn't hesitate to bring out 4-5 of their cheapest options that they could then cut the lenses down to fit.... and they did it in like 5 minutes! We walked in and out without any upselling and with an awesome new pair of frames for a really reasonable price. I will 100% be going back to support that business. Love this shop! I've only been to the one in Glendale. I've been coming for years - so far 3 pairs of glasses, 2 pairs of sunglasses, and multiple lens changes for my frames as my prescription has changed. There are low-end choices and high-end choices, and I've gotten both - just depends on what looks good to me. Maral is incredibly patient, and helpful, when I'm trying to find the right frame for my face. She doesn't upsell, but really wants me to be happy with my selection. I have gotten 5 pairs of frames and lenses that didn't work out from various optometrists. It's been about 6 months that I haven't been able to get a prescription that's worked for me. They all made me disoriented and gave me horrible headaches, I couldn't safely drive, ran into people and things, and a lot more. My old pair of glasses lasted me 5 years until I lost them, and I remember them being from HYE but didn't want to drive out. I finally made the drive from west LA and Imanouel diagnosed the issue in minutes. He is very professional and knowledgeable when it comes to lenses and frames. He was able to figure out what the issue was with all the other lenses I got and why I was experiencing what I was! I was seriously blown away haha. So after about $500 and several attempts from other places, HYE fixed my issue at a very reasonable price and in minutes. This was an incredible find, through Yelp! My wife lost her glasses while in Los Angeles/Hollywood area. I didn't know the are, so I looked up Hollywood Opticians and they were listed with five star reviews AND a Yelp deal. Their selection and quality were outstanding, and the value was incredible. It was less at over-the-counter price, then comparable items through our insurance. Go Figure! The best part about it, is they created the lenses not in an hour, but 15 minutes! That was amazing! This place is fantastic. When I needed new lenses a few years ago, I called them for a quote and Emmanuel took the time to explain all the options and answer all my questions. Even though they are a good hour away from me with traffic, I decided to go for it because the price was much lower than other shops I had called. When I dropped off my prescription, the price was even better than what he had quoted on the phone, unlike the other places, which all increased the quoted price once I walked through the door. Just recently, I needed a repair for my scratched lenses and drove through crazy traffic trying to get there before they closed. I called ahead and they said not to stress, they would stay open for me. Who does that anymore? They were waiting with smiling faces and presented a workable and affordable solution to my problem. I didn't feel rushed at all, even though it was past their closing time. It's rare to find such accommodating and friendly service. My glasses were ready by the end of the week and turned out great. If I could give Hye Optic higher than 5 stars I would. I wear contacts for most of the day, and wanted to buy a pair of glasses to wear at night. With my prescription, I would need to get the pricier high-index lenses. I called Lenscrafters and their high-index lenses (they charge extra for anti-reflective coating) started at $395 and went up to $600! And that's not including the frames ($99+)! Costco quoted me at least $160 just for the lenses, and it would take a week and a half to two weeks to get my glasses. After reading such great reviews on Yelp, I went to Hye Optic. They had a wide selection of designer and non-designer frames, and the girl was nice in helping me try on as many frames as I liked. I found a non-designer pair of frames that fit well and were cute. I asked how much their high-index lenses were and she said $60 for the normal, and $80 for the thinner ones. I asked how much extra the anti-reflective coating would cost, and she said they came with the lenses! I think I gasped. I don't know if she heard me. Frames ($40) + High-index lenses ($60) = $100 - Yelp Deal (Pay $30 for $50) = EIGHTY DOLLARS TOTAL!!!!!! AND my glasses were ready the NEXT MORNING complete with a free hard case!!!! O.M.G!!! I was on vacation and looking for someone to complete my makeover. I was hoping to find someone who would take a faxed RX from my optometrist verses having to get another exam, but this place also offered exams so I covered both basis. Next I needed fast service. I wasn't going to be in town long so I needed a 24hr turn around. This place offered this. When I walked in the women was very friendly and helpful. She pulled out frame after frame that would work for me. In addition they have a bathroom they let you use. In this neighborhood you never know. They were in the middle of remolding when we were there. It didn't really bother me as I wanted glasses and didn't much care what it looked like or what it was going to look like as I was on vacation and probably wouldn't be back. When I walked out of the place I was happy as can be. I went home with a brand new pair of frames. I did learn one thing two weeks later. If you get half frames you need the frames to have nose pieces if you have a high rx or the frames will dig into your face. This is operator error. The next pair has nose pieces. All these five-star reviews seemed too good to be true.. so I had to give this place a try when I needed new glasses. It's at the end of the block, so i really didnt have an excuse not to. You walk in a the place looks a little crazily organized, but they have a TON of selection. Emmanuel pulled about 5 dozen pairs for me to try on, and was helpful figuring out what worked for my face and not. Sweet enough to offer me the $20 discount without an actual Yelp checkin. They have frames in all price ranges, from cheap and practical to high-end designer styles. Didnt try to steer me toward the spendy stuff, which I appreciated since, although I plan to wear glasses more often than I currently do, I dont expect to live in them full-time. Sure the space itself could use an update, and the stairs up to the second floor are a little sketch, but can't judge this book by its cover. So they spend not a lot on overhead, but so what? I am pretty excited to go back sometime in the near future when I want to try a new style! read more

If you need glasses in a few hours, this is the place to go. Purchased the $30 for $50 deal which is a good value except you really have to check the quality of their work before leaving. In 2 occasions, I have to bring them back to have it fixed. The first time ( year and a half ago) they interchanged my left and right prescription. I have my wife picked it up so didn't had the chance to try if everything was done right. The 2nd time , a few weeks ago, had my lenses made, have to bring it back to have the lens repolished(I have the rimless frame). The lens were chipped and rough with few plastic material still dangling between the frame and the lens. Yes they did repaired it but would have been great if they took time to check everything before handing it to us saving us several trips. read more

I don't live in SoCal but I've used Hye Optic for my prescription lenses for about ten years because of their great service and always low and fair pricing (much better than even Costco), getting a new pair of frames every year or so. I would buy my Designer frames on eBay, send them to LA, and then get them back within a week or so...perfectly done, every time. I have been in cancer treatment for the last couple of years and I'm unable to work, putting me in an uncomfortable financial situation for the first time since I was a young man just starting out in life. I now have to carefully watch all my spending, and given our current inflation rate, it's often a challenge. My new prescription (much stronger from age), along with inflation, caused the price of my lenses to increase quite a bit and I requested that they send the frames back to me because I just didn't absolutely need the new lenses at the moment. My current glasses would have to hold me for a while. A week went by and I hadn't gotten them back, so I emailed them and asked whether they'd mailed them yet. They told me that they were filling the order anyway and that they'd mail them when they were finished...on them, as in no-charge/gratis.....FREE. I was nearly speechless, though I thanked them from the bottom of my heart. This was just an unbelievable gesture from them. I just really have no words to explain how grateful I am for Hye Optic, their staff, and their customer loyalty. Needless to say, they've got a customer for life. They had me anyway, but this sealed the deal. Regardless of any online companies low price offerings, I'm sticking with Hye Optic for life. You will pay for well for what you get, but if you need the best and don't need a fancy-looking boutique to Tell you what's good, then this is your joint. Emmanuel who is the co-owner will greet you when you walk in the door. He literally has a star tattooed on his hand so that when he fits your lenses to your face you have something to look at. Hye optic is awesome! I get my prescription lens there. It cost about $70 for the anti reflective lens and it only takes about an hour or so for them to change the lens (if the lens is in stock). Prices are decent and everyone is super nice. I usually deal with Emmanuel when I go there and he's friendly and professional. They're all very knowledgeable as well. The first time, I got like 8 vintage frames. I found some guess, fendi and other brand names and my all time favorite frames, the granny glasses. I love those, so awesome for driving. I also took my Tiffany sunglasses to get prescription lenses, which were about 80% cheaper than at any other place.
