That's until we met some of the miserable ladies behind the food counter at Super Khorak. I waited there for 30 minutes for my food. At one point, I turn and see the employee who took my order whispering in another one's ear while looking at me. I told my partner something was going on. I thought maybe they burned our food. Finally we went to the other end of the counter, realizing there was another pick up section. One of the employees asks for my number. I search my pockets and realize I've lost the receipt. I tell her. She rolls her eyes and storms off. Comes back and barks "what did you order?" I tell her. She says "I called your number 10 times." They knew it was our food! They saw us standing there for more than 30 minutes. What the heck? Then she goes over to some new lady behind the cash whispering while gawking at me. At this point I was at my wit's end. I go over there and say 'excuse me. Is there a problem.' New lady smiles and says "no, no problem at all." I finally get my food. But this whole experience made me lose my appetite and ruined what was up to that point an amazing day. Don't bother. Go next door to Super Arzan. Hopefully they won't ruin your day.

Yes, a few of the check-out cashiers don't respond or interact with their customers, we have noticed that for many years. Perhaps store owners should train their cashiers how to engage, greet and acknowledge their customers.

They had some deals going, and although I haven't tried them all, here's some feedback on the ones I did try. The dubboki (spicy rice cakes) were better than Galleria's. They were $3.95, and make for a good snack/light meal. The consistency of the sauce was thicker than Galleria's (which is fairly watery), and was sweet, but also fairly spicy. There was also a good balance of sliced carrots, fish cake, and of course, rice cake. This item isn't refrigerated, which helps keep the rice cake the right texture. I'd get this again, especially at that cost. Salmon pieces with broccoli - $3.99. Regularly $5.99. Grabbed the only one of these. Four pieces of salmon equating to about 200-250g of cooked salmon? Also a few small pieces of broccoli, a lemon wedge, and a separate small container of terriyaki sauce. A few pieces of the broccoli were turning brown (oh dear), but the salmon was worth it. Squid tempura - $4.95? Something like that. Not a fan of Galleria's (breading is too thick, and usually, the squid is dry). Not a big fan of this one either (breading is still way too thick), but the squid inside is tender, and there's a good amount of squid in it too. Also got what looks like mashed pumpkin + broccoli + peppers (and perhaps some other stuff) salad, but I haven't tried it yet. That one was also under $4. Exciting stuff. They also have a free membership card that you can accumulate points with (application form all in Korean, but they'll translate the necessary stuff). Will be back when I'm in the area.

You'll find wagyu at a great price now and then too. The place has outdated decor and does not necessarily feel squeaky clean... but there is always plenty of free parking. The cashiers are friendly, and workers (though not easy to come by) will offer help and answer questions.

Instead, I backed into a parking spot between the grocery store and K-Beauty Outlet. This outlet store intrigued me. It takes up half the building that was Caynes Housewares. I do miss Caynes. It was different checking out half of it as a Korean beauty store. I stepped through the door. I was instantly welcomed by a woman. I saw lemon kombucha. The woman let me know that it was 50% off. Wow! The special offers are by the door. However, you can find discounts throughout the place. There were a bunch of cute socks. The problem is that I have big feet. The largest size for women was a size 9. If you have small to average feet for a woman, you'll be fine with the sock line. I like that this store has tester products. I tried a tester MediFlower hand cream. It was lightly scented with floral notes. It absorbed quickly and didn't leave any sticky residue. Sold! There was foundation in a compact as a tester. Frankly, I wouldn't use that tester, but I did open it up to check out the foundation colour. There were a lot fo facial masks to try, from snail musin, to dark spot serum. You can get a pack of five masks in a box. Alternatively, if you aren't ready to commit, you can get individual facial masks to try out. I saw bottles of nail polish that looked good. However, I found nail wraps for $1 a set that were more my style. What a steal! The woman who greeted me helped with my checkout process. My goodies were just over $23, which seemed insane for a box of ten individual servings of kombucha, a set of five floral hand creams, and three nail wraps. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. The woman put my items in a paper bag. She then gave me a bunch of samples that I still haven't looked closely at. I look forward to trying my goodies out. I like the hand cream so far. I may head back to get another set. They are great to gift. This store was awesome. I'm glad that I stopped by to check it out. (140)
