We originally came to Mid Island while my daughter was competing at another Long Island gym. Although she was doing well there, I began to feel that the focus had shifted too heavily toward competition scores above all else. While success at meets is important, I wanted a gym that also prioritized my daughter's self-esteem, motivation, and -- most importantly -- her love of gymnastics. So, we took some time to explore our options, visiting a few nearby gyms and taking advantage of trial classes. The moment we stepped into Mid Island and met Meghan, the owner, we knew instantly that we had found our new gym home. Meghan's love for children is apparent in everything she does -- from her warm, welcoming demeanor to her flexibility in accommodating her students' busy schedules. The coaching staff at Mid Island shares that same passion. They not only teach the technical skills of gymnastics but also nurture the social and emotional growth of every child. Each coach brings their own unique style and perspective, which gives gymnasts a well-rounded approach to learning new skills. Yet, no matter their individual methods, one thing is consistent -- their genuine care for the athletes and love for the sport. The facility itself is large, clean, and thoughtfully organized. Classes flow smoothly from event to event thanks to well-planned rotations that ensure groups have plenty of time to practice while avoiding overcrowding. Beyond the technical training, what has meant the most to me is the uncompromising commitment to safety. As a mom, I have peace of mind knowing the coaches prioritize my daughter's physical readiness and proper form over everything else. She feels secure enough to be brave here because she knows her coaches truly have her back. But the real magic of Mid Island is the profound sense of family Meghan has built. She doesn't just run a business; she nurtures a community. Through the Friendsgiving gatherings, festive holiday parties, and the beautiful end-of-the-year banquet, Meghan creates "out of leotard" moments that turn teammates into sisters. These traditions have given my daughter memories (and friendships) that I know will last a lifetime. The friendships I've made with the other parents have been just as life-changing. We aren't just sitting in a lobby together; we've become a support system. We've laughed through the long meet weekends and formed our own bonds during the gym events Meghan hosts. There is nothing quite like sitting in the stands with people who have become your dear friends, cheering for every single girl on that floor as if she were your own. In a sport that can so often feel high-pressure and individual, Mid Island has given us a warm, supportive village. My daughter hasn't just gained new skills here--she's gained a second family, and I've gained one too. Finding Mid Island has truly been a blessing. My daughter's confidence, drive, and joy for gymnastics have flourished here, and for that, I'm endlessly thankful.

At the other -top of the art- places we would see that year after year they did the same routines and the groups were by age instead of skill level. At NGC, children are grouped by level and work on specific skills until they master them. Also, safety is the gym's primary concern. The gym itself might not be flashy, but they have great equipment and in terms of technique they are very on point. The owners have been very accessible and willing to work with me with any concerns I've had regarding my children which I really appreciate. After my other experiences I have been impressed with my girls' improvement and their excitement and willingness to learn. Highly recommended.

Below expectations. Customer service left me wanting. UPDATE (several semesters later): At the price I paid, I expect the trainers to be in excellent physical condition. They weren't. I also expect the trainer(s) to instruct and ensure each child gets a turn. They didn't. Fell way below expectations. Go watch a class or two before you sign up. You be the judge. We won't be back. EDIT: I recently received a compliment on my review. Here's what was shared with me: "Totally hit the nail on the head. I actually went there in the late 90s and early 2000s and I can tell you that barely anything has changed since then. They are also quite cheap and you will never get Wifi or any improvements and if there are I would be very surprised. Well I am reviewing their birthday party service... hoping to enroll our kids in a class…read more.. We attended a party last year and stored it away for a possible idea for our daughter's party. Reserving your spot for a party is simple. You can call and then swing by to drop off your deposit. The whole process is explained then including what to expect and what they provide. They also give you helpful recommendations on where to order food for your party at. A week before the party they call to get a final head count and to provide you with your remaining balance. The call was super friendly and provided me time to ask any questions. For the party they are ready for you at the door. If you are after a party, they clean up the space and get you going right away. The kids are brought into the gym and then split up into different groups with a coach for each group. Lots of action going on and they handle everything. No need to worry about your little ones. Just make sure you have your camera ready. They rotate from station to station so that each kid gets to experience it all. After an hour or so, they get the party together and then have the birthday kid "fly". It was really cool. After that they lineup all the kiddos for a group shot. Next up is pizza and cake. They handle serving and cutting everything. You just have to order the pizza yourself and by the cake. They have a freezer as well. Cups, plates, napkins, balloons are all on them. They also have a knife for the cake and a lighter for the candles. Everything was soooo easy and the staff was so friendly. Each parent was beaming with how much fun their kid had (and how tired the kid was haha). Absolutely somewhere we will consider for future parties!

They guide you so everything goes smoothly and you don't have to be super fit to participate. I was taught by four/five very handsome men! Aussie(golden hair, super fit with an Australian accent) Phillie(super cool, down to earth), and one other guy with a super sick beach bod & chill man bun. So let's recap gorgeous chill men teaching you how to jump and be caught mid air by one of them. So you practice and practice then it's time to be caught mid air and your so ready and pumped, so when you see marco(this super fit man who looks like he can catch two people at the same time) extends his arms out to catch you, at this point in your a professional and enjoying your time in the air. The entire experience was so awesome there's a free parking lot right behind the jumping area. You can make a day out of it and go on the beach! Why not? It's awesome. Scheduling with my groupon was a breeze. So here's a few tips. 1. Earlier fly times are awesome because you get that nice morning breeze and there's no traffic getting there, and you can spend the day at the beach. 2. If your a lady with big boobs wear a sports bra unless you're okay with them performing there own show. 3. If you don't want to wear a sports bra wear a shirt that's not low cut. As for the pants leggings work or shorts as long as your okay with the pressure behind your calfs from using them to swing upside down. It's awesome don't get deterred. Go and experience this once in a lifetime opportunity. They also perform shows in Eisenhower park for free.

Just try! First off, the staff was really great, confident and laid-back. Even as I stood on the platform internally screaming " ohmigod I think I'm afraid of heights!!! What was I thinking!!???" And breathe it out, breathe it out anddddddddd "Hep!"--that means jump. 1. You are completely strapped. Around the waist, a belt. 2 hooks, cords, controlled (more than you realize) by a fully knowledgeable staff member below. 2. You forget all this as you fly thru the air on a bar. 3. There's a net below. You are not going to get hurt. There isn't any real reason Not to do it. 4. Accomplishment is so satisfying and you will want to do it again. I want to do it again. 5. You need all of your wits about you. This isn't jokey " I'm a little drunk" kinda pastime. Respect the vocation.

My child reported a racist post ALLEGEDLY made by one of the participants of PAC. From what I know…read morethis post was outside of the facility and was not about anyone in the facility. While it did not implicate the PAC Program in any way, the owner and staff members took the post seriously. They handled the situation professionally and took steps to ensure the integrity of the program and protect the children and even the accused. Understanding that individual's accounts are hacked every single day and that the accused stated that she had not made the post... and that it was being investigated by the proper authorities, the child deserved the full investigation and support throughout it. The child, the feelings of the participants and integrity of the program remained protected by the staff. The safety and support for everyone was taken in consideration. Their policies and procedures provides a safe and nurturing facility for our children. I know my child has stated how supportive the other children are. How they encourage and inspire each other to be better. How great the staff is in their support and pushing them to reach deeper! How inspiring and how amazing! Keep up the amazing work in providing our child with an amazing experience. I sincerely hope that they get to the bottom of things and that it is all a lie. To destroy a person's reputation is a serious offense! I would not want to be accused of horrible things. We worry about identity theft everyday. This is just as bad!!

The instructors are really supportive, encouraging, and talented. They create an environment where you feel seen, capable, and empowered, and the students cheer you on louder than anyone else. There's no judgment, no shaming and no pressure. just growth, confidence, and genuine support. This studio helped me reconnect with myself, build strength (inside and out), and try things I once thought were out of reach. I'm so grateful I got to meet all this amazing woman at DDF.
