That was several years ago and I wish I had remembered that we had an issue with one of the blinds that I reached out to Joe Curtis about and he did not respond. At the time, it wasn't a big deal, I was able to go directly to the manufacturer and get a new blind. Fast forward to a few months ago. Again, I wish I had remembered the issue that we had the last time but, I didn't. So I called Joe to come out and give us an estimate on blinds for our new home. He was very responsive, came out fairly quickly, gave us an estimate and because he is a friend of a friend, we ended up going with him. Got the blinds installed and within a month or so one of them broke. I reached out to Joe about it, he replied back telling me that I needed to twist the end of the blind which I did and that did not work. I replied back that we had tried his fix and it did not work and that the blind was still broken. He did not respond. It has now been a month. I have sent multiple texts, I have tried to call and zero response. I checked his registrar of contractors number which, on his website it says he is licensed and insured, only to find out that he let his license lapse last year. So, not only is he not licensed, he does not stand behind his products. I am currently working with the blind manufacturer to see if there's any way to get this blind replaced. I would avoid this company at all cost. Joe is super responsive when you need an estimate and when he thinks he can sell you something but the second something goes wrong, he disappears.

He promptly came out to the house, measured all the windows that needed treatment, then showed us all of the different options that we had. After we selected everything we needed, he gave us the estimate for all the shutters we wanted installed. Through the whole process, he was professional and respectful of what we wanted and never pushy at all. He let us know what the schedule would be (I think it was about 5 weeks for the shutters we wanted). When the shutters were ready, he called us to schedule the install, arrived promptly, worked quickly, and had everything installed in no time! He did all this back in July, 2014, and as of this review, the shutters are still like new and looking great! He wasn't on Yelp back then, but he did such great work for us. I've recommended him to many other new home buyers in our area, and I wanted to make sure I gave him my recommendation here!

PSA - OUTERWARE FOR WINDOWS If you are looking for automated…read morescreens DO NOT use this company. We were having an issue with one of our patio screens not moving properly. On the particular day it was not moving properly, it was fairly windy. I spoke with the owner he decided to decrease the service fee from his normal $225 (!!!) to $125 and felt he had an idea of what was going on and would make sure the truck was stocked with appropriate parts. Service comes out and is here with my husband. My husband says he is here approx 10 mins and never touches the screen and tells us it is because of high winds and the screens will not work properly when that happens. Serviceman never touch the screens. Service man never adjusted anything on the screens, and left. I spoke with the owner, Josh, and told him I would be happy to pay a $40 or $50 fee because the service man did come out. But I did not feel that telling me that the wind is blowing is any service to me and I would've been happy to pay the full service fee if the service man actually touched my screens, physically assessed them and/or adjusted anything. Telling me the wind is blowing is something that could've been done over the phone. The owner says to me "I suggest we no longer do business with each other." The screens have a LIFETIME WARRANTY and I tell the owner this. ‍ They know they "have you" and can rake you over the coals with a service fee because they are the only company that can service their product. I feel a $225 service fee on something that has a lifetime warranty is absolutely insane to begin with. But when the service comes out and does nothing, there should be some wiggle room as to what appropriate charges are. And for an owner to say that we should no longer be doing business with each other is no way to warranty a lifetime warranty on the product that you sell.
