My wife and I are big fans of I love bentos, a teriyaki restaurant in Kirkland. We go there at least twice a month, and we are always satisfied with the food and the service. The food is fresh, tasty, and generous. We usually order to go, and the food is always enough for two meals. My go to plate is the spicy chicken and spicy beef teriyaki plate, which comes with rice and a salad. The meat is tender and flavorful, and the sauce is just the right amount of spicy. The salad is my favorite part, because of the dressing they use. It is creamy and tangy, and goes well with the greens. When we eat in, I like to get the bento boxes, because they have sushi as well. The sushi is made with quality ingredients, and the fish is fresh and delicious. The bento boxes also come with tempura, gyoza, and miso soup. They are a great deal for the price and the variety. The owners of I love bentos are really nice and friendly, and they always greet us with a smile. They make us feel welcome and appreciated. They also run the restaurant efficiently and cleanly. We never have to wait long for our food, and the place is always spotless. Pro tip: take in your own bag to save some money when ordering take out. They charge a small fee for their paper bags, but they are happy to pack your food in your own bag if you bring one. I love bentos is one of our favorite places to eat in Kirkland. The place is solid but nothing to brag about. I've had the katsu curry, yakiudon, spicy pork and mongolian beef. The spicy pork is just their spicy chicken sauce, unlike actual korean spicy pork so I think the owners must be actual japanese people. The mongolian beef was the worst thing I've had. It's more like bulgogi with a lot of star anise flavor for some reason. If I feel like teriyaki more than one in a, week this is my backup if I've been to my first spot too many times. read more

2/3 of my platewas white rice and the only vegetable was wet lettuce. Meats were soaking in generic tasting sauce. One dish was so wet with unnecessary sauce you needed a spoon to eat the rice underneath. The shop is showing it's age with faded signs covered with printer paper add-on dishes. I can only assume the good reviews are from long time customers as anyone new would walk out quickly the menu is all over the plate. Bentos are very small part of the menu despite the name. I've had the same meal for less elsewhere. The grill food items are very good so go with the teriyaki and skip the fried items as the sauce is sour. read more

We have been trying to find different places to try and help out during the pandemic. We never came here before, but thought we would give it a try. When you walk in they have plexiglass up to separate the customers from staff. It looks clean and sanitary from the front. After ordering they ask you to wait in your car and they bring it out to you to keep social distancing which is great. As for the food, we ordered the Kids Bento 2 which has chicken katsu and gyoza. We also ordered the sweet sour chicken and the teriyaki bento. My son loves the katsu and loved the sauce. If you don't like a lot of sauce I recommend asking for it on the side, but for my son he said it was the perfect amount of sauce for his taste. I really enjoyed the sweet sour chicken. I am pretty critical on the balance between sweet and sour and they actually got the balance just right. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband's bento was good and he was happy with his dinner. Just as the name suggests, I really do love bento's!! My husband and I tried this place for lunch takeout today and it was love at first bite. We each got an order of chicken teriyaki and shared some gyozas. The staff are super friendly and taking all the necessary precautions for your safety and theirs, while living in a COVID19 world. Very friendly customer service and anticipating needs if you want something. Very conscientious staff and clean tables. You can tell they are working very hard and although this can be a to go place where you order at the counter you can also sit at the table and they will take your order like it's a full service restaurant! The prices are just as good as a quick take away place, but quality and service is better! I think the portions were large and it tasted fresh and their teriyaki sauce on the chicken was really good. Parking is easy and it's right next to a grocery store and some gas station so it's in a good central area, right off 405 freeway as well... I was in Totem Lake area and wanted to have Japanese lunch. I went to Izumi, but it was closed for summer vacation. I searched Japanese restaurants using Yelp and found "I Love Bento's". After checking the menu on the wall I ordered SB1 (Sushi Bento Combo 1). It came out in about 15 minutes. It contained Chicken teriyaki, sushi, and tempura. The sushi was pretty good. The teriyaki was fine except it was a little too charred for my taste. The tempura was not very good. The crust was dense and hard, not airy, light and crispy. Also the dipping sauce was not authentic tempura dipping sauce, but gyoza dipping sauce. Overall the portion size was big and I had some leftover to take home. Of all the similarities between I -lessthanthree- Bento's and other restaurants in the area, they have their own little stand outs. I love the Miso and the portion/price ratio here. That pretty much sums it up. It is standard bento fare options, they boxes are wonderful and perfectly sized and not over-priced for what you are getting like so many are. This is something I'd get for lunch or as a to-go dinner w/ Don,...not a place I'd seek out for my kids-n-I going out dinner. They prefer the Teriyaki across the street (and for it's dollar, is more food they will all eat) The staff here are just awesome, though. So friendly and helpful. I'm beginning to wonder if I am reviewing the same place as everyone else. I SERIOUSLY cannot imagine anyone who actually likes Japanese or East Asian food to rate this place higher than a 3 star. I was starving so I ordered a side of miso soup and the mongolian beef. I was delighted when our adorable and very sweet server came up with miso very quickly...until she set it in front of me. It was basically a tea cup halfway filled with miso broth. $1.29 for a quarter of a cup of miso broth. There were no fix ins to be seen; no tofu, seaweed or chives. Then came the mongolian beef and yakiudon. Both were not very good. Mine tasted like a microwave dinner. The yakiudon sauce was watery. As I said, I was starving so I ate my entire plate. I didn't really enjoy it. I ate a few bites of the yakiudon. It was not any better than my mongolian beef. I was told the spicy chicken teriyaki is good. I won't be back to find out. read more

This review is for the sushi...I'm really picky about my sushi. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the spider roll to-go for lunch. I got home and opened the box and was immediately assaulted with the overwhelming scent of seaweed. Maybe this doesn't bother most people, but I hate seaweed. And yes, I realize most sushi is wrapped in the stuff, but luckily the places I usually head to for sushi must use a different kind or just less seaweed. Strike one. Strike two: soooooo much rice. The rolls are big on their own! And there was so much rice around the damned things that I couldn't even get them in my mouth. Maybe they're trying to give you more bang for your buck, but really, I don't think anyone would complain about cutting back on the rice a bit. Strike three: Neither roll was very tasty. I couldn't tell if it was a quality issue or just a flavor-balance issue since the seaweed taste was so strong, but they just didn't taste good. I'll be back to try the other menu items because most reviews on here say they're great, but I don't think I'll bother with the sushi again... read more

Friendly, good food, reasonably priced! We stopped for dinner early on a Friday evening and I had the teriyaki chicken, gyoza and California roll bento box, my daughter had the kids teriyaki chicken and gyoza meal and my guy had the chicken katsu. Just moved into the Juanita neighborhood and was thrilled to see a bento / asian restaurant nearby. The first visit was pretty good, had a bento box and the chicken donburi with miso, all was very decent. Second visit was not that good. The miso was very watered down, no flavor. We aren't in a hurry to go back, but will give it another try and let that third visit be the deciding factor. Any restaurant can have an off night. I went here tonight for a late dinner with my kid. In fact, I chose this place SOLELY on the basis of the reviews here! And you, my friends, did not disappoint! The couple who runs the place couldn't have been nicer or more attentive, and the food was superb! My only pseudo-complaint: the miso soup, although the perfect temperature, was totally bland.
