    Menu for specialty rolls

Kuro Sushi is in a strip mall next to a CVS in the Eastgate area of Bellevue. A simple location means the diners get a bigger bang for their buck. The online food photos certainly showed promise, so naturally, we went. The restaurant is roomy and well-maintained. While they have some insta/tik-tok gimmicky options (served with fire), the nigiri photos caught my attention. It is all about the fish quality. The kitchen items were perfectly cooked. One roll was falling apart, which I gave them feedback. They graciously offered a dessert or 5% off as compensation, which we declined. We appreciate gesture nonetheless. We were the last customers walking in on a Sunday night. The food arrived quickly. Service was swift, and they answered my questions well. The Food: Bluefin Sampler, $22 - 5 Stars O-Toro, Chu-Toro, Akami, and chopped tuna are the four pieces in this sampler. The fish pieces are generously sized, and they taste sooooo good with the oils. Love, love, love these, including the cost. Hubby eyed mine with jealousy and placed an additional order for himself. Lol. Salmon Sampler, $16 - 4.5 Stars These were good too with quality pieces of fish. Hubby is not a fan of ikura nigiri, so side-eyed it a bit. Not their fault. I graciously ate it for him. Hahaha. Orange Blossom roll, modified as seared salmon on top, $20 - 3.5 Stars I requested recommendation for "maximum fish" roll, and he suggested the Orange Blossom or Cherry Blossom. I am familiar with both and opted for orange/salmon to contrast my Bluefin Sampler. Changing it to seared salmon top gets the bite more texture. Alas, this is the roll where every piece fell apart. In terms of flavor and fish quality, it is still a good roll. Love Salmon roll, $18 - 3 Stars Hubby read "Love Salmon" and ordered it. But he learned he doesn't like salmon skin when it is not crispy or a roll with a bunch of veggies inside. Admittedly, the menu font size is small and need a magnifying glass to read "salmon skin, kaiware, yamagobo, green onion" inside. He didn't like his roll. Fried Oysters, Japanese style, $8 - 5 Stars These are basically katsu-oysters. They have an excellent crisp and extremely hot for first bite. Yum! Hamachi kama, $16 - 4.5 Stars These visually looked a bit dry, but they were instead perfectly grilled.

Solid sushi spot in Eastgate, with a lot to offer and a great happy hour. We had a nice time here for an early dinner/happy hour. Kuro Sushi is a win for the Eastgate neighborhood in Bellevue. We visited Kuro Sushi on a Friday for happy hour as they only offer happy hour on the weekdays until 6pm. Located in a business strip in Eastgate, parking is plenty, but does get busy with customers from Safeway and other businesses nearby. We came right when happy hour started, but by the time we left, the entire place was filled and a lot of customers visited for takeout orders. My partner and I shared a bunch of items: chirashi bowl, Alaska roll, Aquarium roll, calamari, and the toro tekka don. Of all the items, I liked the the toro tekka don the most as the tuna cuts were thick and fresh over sushi rice. I also liked that it was an assortment of tuna, from lean to semi-fatty tuna. Noms! Most people in the restaurant ordered the chirashi bowl from the happy hour menu, but my partner and I agree that we've had better at Musashi's for cheaper. I'd skip the chirashi bowl and recommend getting the toro tekka don instead. I liked that we were also able to get the Alaska roll with seared salmon on top instead of raw salmon, adding some oomph. Calamari was solid, and I liked that it had larger pieces than most restaurants that offer fried calamari. Overall, this is a solid spot for sushi and seafood, especially if you're in the Eastgate neighborhood. If you're able to make it, the happy hour menu offers a lot, including discounted booze. I'm glad we were able to try it while in the area.

We were so pleased to find this hidden gem in a shopping strip of a Safeway parking lot. A Friday night at 7:30pm, we waited about 10 minutes for a table of 4. Friendly service! They use a mixture of white & black rice. Aesthetically it is unique and I can't say for sure the taste is any different than all white rice but the sushi is delicious! The desserts were very good too. My fave was the espresso mochi ice cream served with a dollop of vanilla bean whipped cream.

First time trying this restaurant. This is a really nice sushi restaurant. It feels like an upscale sushi restaurant; the decors and the vibe is just giving out that kind of feeling. The staff were really nice and friendly. The foods were good; not mind blowing good but it was good. What we got: Chicken karaage (4/5) Your typical chicken karaage. Salmon shio yaki (4/5) My friend got the salmon shio yaki and she said it was delicous. She was craving a salmon teriyaki and she said it hit the spot. Chirashi Bowl (4/5) (not pictured) Wife got this bowl and she said it was good. Its a big portion bowl. Kuro roll (4/5) Its a good roll. Its a cooked roll except for the tobiko which wasnt overly fishy. I was able to enjoy it even with the tobiko. (Not a fan of eating any raw sushi/fish eggs) Lobster roll on fire (5/5) This was our favorite. Really good roll that come to your table on fire. Orange blossom roll (4/5) (not pictured) Friend said it was alright. The salmon wasnt fishy and its a good size roll. Overall You should go and try it. Im not a sushi person so the review is based on what my friends and wife told me (they like sushi alot)

Came here around 5 pm on a Friday and it wasn't too crowded. The service was great and we ordered two sushi rolls. They had lots of sushi options and it is made with purple rice which is pretty cool. The sushi tasted fresh and the portions were large. The bathroom was also very clean and fancy and they had a Jo Malone scent which smelled magnificent.

TL;DR: Kuro Sushi is the best option for high quality, authentic sushi on the Eastside. Don't let the black rice dissuade you; it isn't a gimmick and it is paired with the highest quality seafood including special imports from Japan. Ample cozy seating in a sophisticated dining room. We have been fans of Kuro since it opened. Usually Eastgate doesn't have good restaurants, but Kuro Sushi is amazing and would be worth the drive. Easy parking. Usually no wait unless you're here on Fri-Sun for dinner after 6. They use black/purple rice but it's not a gimmick. The quality of the seafood they use for the sashimi/nigiri rivals that of Takai, LTD, Shiro, or any other top tier sushi shop. They regularly have fresh fish flown in from Japan, and they end up on the rotating specials menu. Their omakase nigiri is amazing--huge slices of unique fish... not just the standard tuna and salmon. They also have a huge selection of izakaya food. Lots of good fried food like squid, chicken/pork katsu, and tempura. We love the hamachi kama which is grilled collar meat of the hamachi. The owner and his staff are top tier. The sushi chefs are top tier. The service is friendly and prompt even when they are busy. They have a pleasant seating area along the wall with bench seating with pillows which is super nice. The best part--amazing value. You're not paying $100+ for top tier omakase. Definitely try this place out and make it your go-to. They do takeout as well. Sushi amazingly travels well.

Super fast and attentive service, amazing food, the best sake list on Eastside. We were super impressed with the 20 piece omakase especially since every piece was unique. The hamachi appetizer was legendary. Lots of unique things like yuzu soda and sorbet, fresh mochi, and more. Asians looking for a taste of home will enjoy it . It's Japanese food has a Korean twist so be prepared, but be opened minded and you'll enjoy it. Great cozy and modern atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We've been coming here since last year or even the year before and surprised that I haven't left a review (shame on me!). Maybe because I want this "hidden gem" all to myself. Although, judging on how crowded they get and the long wait, this place is not so hidden. Small establishment with a few tables that can seat 2-4 people, and a sushi bar that can fit maybe 4 people max, this place is a local favorite. Staff are friendly and food is delicious. We tend to lean towards ordering Omakase, but have ordered tempura and other cooked items from the kitchen. We haven't come across any dish we didn't like so will let the pictures do the talking. As far as I know, they don't take reservations, so either come early or be prepared to wait.

We really love this place! It has become our favorite sushi outing. This time we tried a few new things. The fried chicken karaage is amazing but don't try to eat it alone, Definitely have someone to share with. We also got a flaming lobster sushi roll this time that I think was on special and I believe there was an entire lobster tail on there. It was absolutely delicious and I was glad we tried something new. We also ordered some tuna sashimi, which is always fresh and wonderful and the crab sushi tower is a favorite we always get. The service is always friendly and wonderful, and the space is clean and well decorated, and I love that I can watch the sushi chef's behind the counter.

Was craving sushi closeby, and found kuro. It has convenient lot parking, and sits ~12 groups, not including the sushi bar. I came in for weekend dinner, and the place was pretty full. There were only a few servers working, and they looked overwhelmed :c we had to wait ~15 minutes for a table, and an additional ~20 minutes for our food. Our server was super apologetic though and offered dessert which was nice. For food, we ordered the chirashi bowl, the salmon sampler, and the shiromi sampler. The chirashi bowl comes with a lot of fish. Like 20 pieces? And I like that it comes with half salad half sushi rice. I loved the variety of white fish as well. But would've appreciated some different cuts of tuna (chutoro at least). I enjoyed the samplers as well. Both the salmon and shiromi samplers had nice variety and were fresh. The rice to fish proportion is good (big fat cuts of fish). The purple rice is interesting, but good. I did find a bone in my salmon, which ruins the experience for me, but that's fine. Price was okay, 45 for chirashi bowl is steep, but for ~20 pieces of fish, that's pretty good. Overall, solid place. Not super standout, but will definitely add it to my regular sushi spots on the east side.

Surprisingly tasty! Service was great, pleasant and professional. Ambiance was quaint, clean and comfortable. I would give this place a 4.5 stars if half star is an option. The curry rice with shrimp was super tasty. The shrimp is more like a shrimp patty with panko crust (okonomiyaki style) vs individual tempura. The curry sauce was very delicious. I thought it was a lot of sauce until I tried it. We finished it all with the crunchy shrimp patty and soft rice. The Kuro roll was tasty as described by others. I ordered it because it was recommended on Yelp. It has lots of texture- crunchy fish eggs, unagi, shrimp tempura, avocado and drizzle of mayo and others. Glad I tried it. Agedashi tofu, my kiddo claimed it was the best she has had. She ordered two orders and finished all of them that I didn't get a chance to try them. We ordered an appetizer from the 'Today's' menu- it was a shrimp deep fried pancake with veggies topped with mayonnaise drizzle. It was very tasty and very reasonably priced. Love the Today's menu focusing on seasonal ingredients perhaps or the chef's choice of the day. We look forward to be back.

Been here for lunch and dinner. It did not disappoint! Fresh food, good service. They use mixed black and white rice on plates and sushi. It looks like purple rice. Sushi is fresh. Don't let the strip mall facade fool you. It's nicely decorated and dishes are colorful and pleasant to the eye. A bit pricey, but the service, food, and ambiance is worth the price

He was the only one that ate the scallops and the free appetizer for the day which was squid I just don't think we can return after that. My son said he also noticed that the raw chicken placement was further away from the chef and the beef was almost touching the raw chicken so the beef was between the chicken and the chef. The grill was kind of a little sloped (hardly noticeable but from our angle you can tell since we were sitting on the side) so he was thinking that maybe some of the raw chicken juice may have gotten on the beef that he ate. He orders his beef medium rare . Maybe that's what it was? I've actually never been to another hibachi restaurant that cooked the beef and the chicken with that placement. Usually the chicken is far away from everything else being cooked and is to the left or right of other food
