I've been eating at Kami Teriyaki for years, and it's my go-to place for General Tao's Chicken and other dishes. So tasty! Yes, like all restaurants their prices have skyrocketed and portion sizes aren't huge, but that's pretty normal everywhere now so I can't fault them for it. They solved the parking problem for pick-up, which is great (there are reserved spots for their restaurant). Last I checked they switched sauces for their spicy chicken teriyaki and the new sauce isn't good, but all of their other food is great. read more

People must be confused and giving this place a poor rating instead of being on the page for the other two unrelated Kami restaurants in the area. Please don't be scared off by bad reviews. They are definitely not talking about this Kami by St Edwards Park. The food is always good- teriyaki, bulgogi, orange chicken, gyoza- whatever dish I've chosen is always delicious. And the service from the lady who runs it and her daughter is wonderful, they are always sweet, kind and we get our food fast, even when it's very busy. It's a bit bare bones, cafe-style place and we usually get take out, but there's almost always someone eating in there when we pick up. They also offer free miso soup, free barley tea (give it a chance), and bottled drinks for purchase. read more

This place has been here for a decades and I remember visiting when I was a high school kid I just visited September 2024 and thoroughly enjoyed a spicy chicken and beef combo. The old lady behind the register is sweet and barely speaks English. I love this. If you're grumpy, you might not like this. The spicy sauce was just perfect and not too spicy normally I drench teriyaki food and Sriracha but this time I didn't have to to make the combo spicy. It ended up being $20 which seems high, but I didn't mind. Ambience is nothing special. It's a tiny little restaurant with one old lady working the counter and busing tables gives the good for kids vibes where you can spill a little bit and nobody minds. read more

Our kids love teriyaki and Kami was close to where we were celebrating a birthday. When the friendly man behind the counter heard it was a birthday, he wrote "happy birthday" on all our boxes and put in extra sauce. It wasn't a really big deal, but it made the kids really happy, and that makes it a big deal. Sometimes the little things have a big impact and I'm thankful for business that make an effort. We had an order of teriyaki chicken and two of chicken katsu. Both were good. The teriyaki had a good blend of sweet/sour and was tender. The katsu was breaded and fried well, where the coating didn't fall apart in the container. The rice was fluffy. The included salads were roughly cut, where one of the containers seemed almost like a full 1/8th head of lettuce, but my big mouth still manages to enjoy it. read more

This place rocks! Kami Teriyaki has been our neighborhood go-to "Teriyaki Joint " for over 20 years. Always consistent and great food and service. A few years ago the ownership changed and this younger and quite a bit taller owner (?) has picked up the ball and ran with it successfully. When my kids are home from school for the holidays or summer, we typically head to Kami for a satisfying meal. Chicken Teriyaki or Katsu Chicken are our go-to faves. I tried the spicy Bulgogi this time and it wasn't bad. The tall owner is very nice and friendly and usually chats with us or offers us free water or soda sometimes. Very nice guy. Love this place!! This Teriyaki restaurant is a super local spot that I've grown up going to. It consistently has huge portions of food for a great price, and they have complimentary miso soup and hot tea! The place is local and family owned, with a very friendly staff. As a vegan, I enjoy the tofu teriyaki, and tofu or veggie yakisoba and stir fry. On my family's most recent visit, the owner gave us some free instant miso soup packets to take home for later, and chatted with us. Very good food. The owner is always so kind to both our children and puppy. Each time we go, he makes some chicken just for our dog and has candy ready to give the kids! We have been going to this restaurant for years because of it's close proximity to our house, great food and service. However the last year or so, it has been steadily going downhill. The younger man who took over for the previous, more mature owners, is not able to provide courteous or efficient service. He is carrying on conversations with other customers while trying to take your order and the result is less than accurate. Today I ordered the gyoza plate dinner, which appeared to be deep fried instead of pan fried. They were greasy and crisp inside and out....pretty gross. We got charged for an xtra salad that was not ordered. The last 3 times we have ordered from them, something has been wrong with the order. I ordered 1 chicken breast meal with a side order of gyoza for my son and I, then we go to get some soup while we wait. The guy he tells me "only 1 miso soup per customer." Ok, I spent about $18.00 after tip and there's no one else there. And I can't have $.10 worth of soup while I wait? Then we go to sit while we wait for our food to arrive but can't. I've lived in Kenmore for nearly two years and looked at this joint as an thought of it as an afterthought. I went there today and get a Spicy Chicken, with fried rice and Gyoza. I had but one problem, how am I ever going to shop at QFC without stopping here again. Portions are generous, the quality of the chicken is spot on and the crispiness of the Gyoza is perfect. The Spicy Beef is good but the portion is small for the price and you don't get as much rice or beef as you get at Teriyaki Madness in Down Town Kirkland. Kami Teriyaki is my Saturday breakfast stop. I work all night Friday at the cell phone data center, grab 6 or 7 hours sleep, then off for 15 hours of fun. The first 4 delivering pizzas - no pizza for breakfast, thanks - once a day is plenty LOL. I arrive at work a bit before 4 and run down to Kami Teriyaki for my breakfast. Their menu has more than just Chicken and Beef Teriyaki. And since I can't handle the carbs, they have no problem substituting extra salad for rice. The Chicken Teriyaki is good, but my usual is the Chicken and Pork Combo, made spicy. (They charge an extra buck to make it spicy, well, seems like for everything, but it is worth it.) OK, I admit it, I like spicy so don't expect me to review the regular teriyaki. Well, except for the gozya - I like anything resembling pot stickers and they are very good. They have food other then teriyaki. The bolgogi (stir fired spicy beef with onions) is great. The Chicken and peanuts is actually Orange Chicken and is tasty. I have yet to try the Chicken curry, but if true to form, they will be great too. They have a large variety, including tempura and fish & chips. FREE SOUP! Yup, you can't beat the free soup. My son will occasionally ask if he can pick up something for me on Saturday, but the free soup is for dine-in / wait-in for pickup, only. They have an egg flour and a more traditional miso soup. I must have my soup to go along with my spicy breakfast on Saturday afternoon. UPDATE: I always get my meals without rice - or - all salad. On Saturdays when I usually eat there, they give me a lot of food. I was in there yesterday and it was half the size of the usual Saturday portion. I don't know whether it is who is preparing it or if they have changed owners again. I will revise this when I find out. If this is a trend, they will probably loose a star. When we first moved to this area, this was the first place we tried eating at. We are so delighted they are here! They have GLUTEN FREE, SOY FREE TERIYAKI. This is amazing, awesome and wonderful. Since my daughter is allergic to both soy and gluten and I am to gluten, its a rare thing we can eat out anywhere. I cant tell you how excited she is to get to eat here. We ate gluten free Teriyaki at a different place once, and it was yucky. Kami Teryiaki's gluten free soy free Teriyaki is amazing. Its SO good. Me and my kids love it and its about the only fast food type we can eat. It doesnt make any of us sick, and it tastes as good or better than regular Teriyaki. Furthermore the people that run the restraunt are so kind. They are kind to my girls and me and they have wonderful customer service. I cant recommend this place highly enough. Especially if you have food allergies like us, its a gem!! My husband orders their regular Teriyaki, which is also, according to him, some of the best Teriyaki he has had. They are generous with their portions and with their rice. They offer free hot soup too, great for while you are waiting. read more

My wife and I just had a horrible experience here while dining in at Kami Teriyaki. We ordered a spicy chicken teriyaki and a chicken breast teriyaki. While the spicy chicken was good, the chicken breast teriyaki was awful. It just tasted off with a microwave taste to the meat. It was bad enough my wife had to spit her first bite out into a napkin. When I took the plate up to the counter worker, he said he had to talk to his father. His father came to our table and berated us, saying that is how chicken breast is supposed to taste (believe me, it's not). He said he has been making it that way for 8 years without complaint. They refused to attempt to make it right and would not substitute it for something else or offer a refund. We have had take out from here previously without any complaints, but we will never be returning here after this horrible customer experience. read more
