I was in a mood to get my mani/pedi one day because I was off work early unexpectedly. Service was ok. I was the only customer for maybe 10 mins or so then a few ladies came in. I do not remember getting a complimentary drink or not but that is something I look forward to at salons when I am pampering myself. Not sure if I will be a repeat customer but that isn't a promise. I have had a bit of a hard time finding spots in portland that do SNS nails but i decided to give this spot a shot since it was in the neighborhood. I don't think i would go back for sns because i don't feel like they did a very good job. Maybe for other services its totally fine! I know sns tends to look thicker, but the lady didn't spend any time making sure the material closest to my cuticles was filed down thinner or cleaned up. she just kinda dipped my nails and filed the tops and sides but didnt bother with the bottoms, so once they started to grow out, you can see the uneven pieces and there are some chips. its a little bit hard to explain so i tried to attach some pictures. ive never had this issue with sns nails before so it was a bit disappointing. let me restate, ive has sns multiple times so im familiar with the process. I also had two different people work on my nails, which i understand might have been more efficient ? but once again, ive never started with one nail tech and then been handed off to another one. I made an effort to get here the moment they opened, and they turned me away saying that there are no walk-ins, and that nails are done by appointment only. When you think you can get fingerbang nails without going to fingerbang.....just go to fingerbang I feel like a Pinterest fail. I tried to have them fix them and they keep saying they are to busy. Although most of the time I get my nails done here I am satisfied with THE WORK. The nail techs on the other hand are unprofessional and rude. When I got there for my appointment Leon wasn't even there . The woman had to call him to come back in and it looked like he took a nap and he complained about being at work. I asked to get my nails cut shorter THREE times and he made it seem like it was my fault for asking. He hurt my finger nails while filing so many times and when I picked my color out I asked for a sheer color and she (he made someone else paint my nails) made a comment under her breath about how I only wanted to coats! I've been going to I Love Nails for about a year and half now and I love it. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! I was very excited to find this place because I've always had trouble with nails coming off when I go to other salons. Leon is the best person I've found for stiletto/almond shaped nails. My nails always look great even when it's time to go get them re-done. Leon is also an amazing nail artist. If I show him a picture he can recreate it, and if you just have an idea in your head he can make it come to life! If you're looking to get nail art, I recommend making an appointment before going in to make sure they have time to do the designs. They have a huge selection of gel colors and lots of gems and nail art pieces to choose from. It's totally fine if you bring in your own supplies too! read more

Poor quality and even more poor service. I came here with an existing set of nails to get a fill and I was taken aback by the short cuts in service taken to conserve time and take more clients. I had Leon. He arrived 10 minutes late, did not speak, yanked on my hands and wrist a lot, and used dirty and gunked up tools. Although I made an appointment I was passed between him and another woman who was equally as polite. Needless to say one nail popped off a week later and when I went to get it repaired it went poorly. They use cheap products and take a lot of shortcuts. I will never return here. read more

If I could give them Zero stars I would. Today I went for the second time. The first time was amazing. Though the polish started chipping off after a few days the actual Mani Pedi was great. That's why I went today. But apparently they had the C squad working. I went with my friend who's been going for a while but she's noticed her nails pop off after a day. Today. Absolutely just sucked. There's no other way to put it. Start to finish. My girl was lazy and complained the entire time. My friend's girl was obviously pissed about something because her face was wadded up. The water warm. The massage was awful and not therapeutic in the slightest of ways. I asked for more pressure and she actually pressed lighter. When I tried to talk to her she acted like she didn't understand me but her English improved when it came time to tell me it was time to pay. When my friend decided to take her acrylics off her girl got extremely irritated. She kept asking my friend you want him to do it fine by me. She preceded to RIP my friends nails off with the acrylics flying in the air. I'm not joking. One hit me. This was extremely painful and could have been done better. Oh wait let me back up...the polish on my toes....and toe nails. See pictures. Back to Harriet the sadistic witch working on my friend. When she was done gauging her nails off she did a once over with the electric file. But left all the rough ridges and several divots in her nails. When she asked her you're going to fix this right? She got snooty in her language and started talking to my girl who was by the inflection in her voice sounded like she was calling us names and insulting us. When the guy started saying something that sounded like a GET BACK TO WORK and then he said in English there wasn't a problem if she wanted them off do it. She switched tips and filed a little more said "That's ok?" My friend reached over and grabbed the foam file and said she was just going to do it herself. When my friend finished buffing out her own nails I was getting my fake massage from complainy pants. My friend didn't even get a massage. The atm was out of money so I couldn't get cash...because that's what they say they only accept but as soon as it came to me having to leave the place to get money they are able to take it up front with no fee....mmmmm sound sketchy af to me. When we tried to to tell them we didn't expect to pay for such a horrible job because it's just nails....NAILS. I CAN DO A SHITTY JOB ON MY OWN AND NOT PAY FOR IT! Sorry but they were so rude already there an 2 + hours they offer to fix. No I don't have time for that. You should have done it right the first frigging time. I will NEVER GO HERE AGAIN EVER! If you were my friend I'd tell you do not go here they are RUDE AND SHODDY!!! I have pictures I'll try to add. I feel bad for my friend because her hands still hurt. I want to give this place ZERO stars...but unfortunately I cannot. All I can say, is that they discriminate against fat people here. From the moment I walked in, the lady immediately went to sit me down before she was directed to move me to the worst chair in the salon. It was ripped and clearly the only chair that hadn't been updated. I went to sit down, and was told , very abruptly, "Sit Down First. You Crack Bowl!".... I did what she said, but could already see that this was going to be a frustrating visit. I told her I wanted a white gel with a sparkle overlay on my toes, and the most expensive and longest pedicure option because I needed the longer massage. She put the armrest down, and it grazed my hip, she put it back up.... keep in mind, this is the only way I have access to the massage chair controls or an armrest. I am a big woman, but in no way was the chair too little for me. And the armrest was not snug. I made her put it back down and she seemed miffed and put it back up...and i put it back down....and then her and the man and the other employee all talked about me in their language very intensely until she gave up and left the armrest down. I got settle in, and turned on my massage chair and she turned it off. So I turned it back on, and she looked at me and said, "You break chair. Turn off!".... the massage chair was working normally, and in no way was my weight impeding the function of the chair. At this point, I was humiliated and pissed at the treatment I was getting. I had come in that day with a friend of mine and we walked in together. I was seated and then My friend decided to park her car in a shady area for her dog that was in the car, and by the time she came in to sit down for her pedicure, the irritated woman was already supposedly done trimming my nails, giving me a massage, doing a salt scrub, and she was drying my feet and legs. This whole process was less than 15 minutes ....about 30 minutes LESS than the pedicure I paid for. My friend came in and said, "Oh my god...u are almost done already?!" It became more than obvious they were all talking about me, which became increasingly uncomfortable and the technician barely rubbed or touched my feet and legs, and kept looking and pointing at various parta of my body and saying things amongst themselves in their language. I am angry, and the only reason I didn't run out of there was bcuz of my friend...but i was close to tears at this point. Then I look down, and this woman has painted a French tip on my toes..and is extremely irritated that my ankle won't bed the way she wants it for the gel light. I explain I'm in a lot of pain, and my feet and ankles don't bed that way...and instead of holding the machine there, she starts huffing and puffing and yelling at me in her language... Nevermind the fact she is not even doing what I asked for, which was a white gel with a sparkle overcoat. All I can say, is that by the time my nails were dry, I was almost in tears, my ankles were in pain from her wrenching them in an angle my body doesn't go in...and I was so humiliated. It was ironic to watch my skinny friend, on the other hand, being treated like a queen and respectfully, and given the exact service she had requested. They also charged me extra for the French Tip, and the full.price for the Super Deluxe Pedicure ...even though I clearly didn't get that treatment. In 10 years of getting my nails done...I have never been treated so poorly, humiliated, and fat-shamed like that before. It was the MOST uncomfortable experience I've ever had, and I'll never ever go back. read more

A good amount of my friends exclusively see Leon to get their nails done, so I finally did the same, and I'll never go to another nail tech from now on. Hands down, this is the best manicure I've had. I have acrylics with gel polish on top, and I came in for a fill and new gel. It's easy to see that Leon puts his full effort into nails--my previous fill (at a different salon) was a mess with every nail a different shape and length. In about 30 seconds I had a perfect almond shape on each nail. There are a wide variety of color options, and my friends also have beautiful custom art done by Leon too. I also appreciated the care put into making sure my acrylics/tips were securely attached to my nails as well as making sure there wasn't acrylic under my nails. Overall, I'll be returning to Leon and I Love Nails. It was absolutely my best nail salon experience. read more

All hail Hannah. Her foot massages are amazing. And the best part is that she actively encourages you to doze off, if you must. What I Love Nails has going for it, at least for me, is proximity and cost. I love the two salons I've been to in Sellwood, but Sellwood is a long ways away from my home and office and inevitably causes some stress to make it to my appointments there on time. Likewise, I really love the fancy place on Water where I treated myself to a pre-house closing pedicure. You know, back when I had the monies. But since then, we closed on the house and the monies are gone. But the need for foot love remains.* Obviously, not everyone works near the Lloyd Center/close in NE Broadway area, but the salon is in an ideal spot for those who do. There's usually parking on Broadway, but there are a lot of side streets, too. For $35, you get a fantabulous soak, grainy scrub, hot wax treatment, and polish. And AND a massage, which is the real reason most people get pedis. Hannah's technique is remarkable. She put the wax in their piping hot plastic bags around my tootsies first, and then rubbed my shins. After the bags came off, she did her magic on my feet. I barely remembered that I had wanted color on my toenails after that. The only gripe I have is that the massage chairs at this salon have an odd tendency to default to all-over mode, and the squeezing motion of the chair's mechanisms around my buttcheeks is a wee bit tight. Like if your old auntie with no awareness of her own strength or other people's comfort bubbles decided to hug you, often, but around your ass instead of your upper body. The salon space is large and clean, with a flat screen TV on silent that shows either the early evening news or whatever's on HGTV. If you're not into that, they have the beauty and gossip mags that you secretly love so you can imagine what your life would be like if you had Alicia Keys' pompadour, and her voice and her money . . . But if you do not have that pile of "Empire State of Mind" monies, I Love Nails is a smart place to love. *All the mentions of foot love here make me sound like some kind of fetishist. Tee hee. Came in for my first time at this business today with a friend of mine. One of the technicians worked on my nail beds and cuticles. There was the usual chat between technicians at nail spas, but I don't know if this caused the person to get distracted and cut too deep. I felt an immediate stinging feeling on my left ring finger, and I look down, and I'm bleeding. She immediately puts my hand in the bowl of water. My finger is stinging and throbbing while I'm sitting there hoping it was just a little nick that would quickly stop bleeding. We pulled my hand out, and nope, it kept bleeding. Another technician came and kept putting some mysterious nail stuff on the cut and pressing down with little pieces of cotton. This went on for about 10 minutes as she worked on filing my nails. Every time we checked, even when they put glue, yes glue, on my cut, it kept bleeding. Finally, as the place got busier, she put a cotton piece on my cut and left me there. I sat and watched my friend's nails get finished. Her technician nonchalantly offered to paint my nails real quick after he finished. I said I didn't really want a rush job (I came in for a full shellac manicure). When my friend was all done, her technician came to take the cotton off my finger. My friend finished paying, and my finger was still bleeding. The technician handed me a bandaid. That was my experience. I'm still really confused about it. Leon had done my nails last month as a walk in. 2 weeks ago, I walked in on a Friday at 3pm and he was booked so I got a pedicure. While the water was hot, the pedi was not. No scrubbing with the pumice and the massage was horrible. 2 minutes at most. They did not have time for my Fill and asked me to reschedule for the following day which I did. When I came back the next day, 15 minutes early for my appointment he said it will be ten minutes. An hour later, I sat there and watched several women go before me. Now after seeing 3 white women get serviced before me, mind you they were walk ins, I've started to think something was up. After that hour had passed, I got up and left. Today, I had a delima, so I called for an appointment. They said sure no problem and I came on in 45 minutes later. When I got there, they asked if I hat an appointment. I told them I had just scheduled one about an hour ago with Leon. She hurried on over there only to tell me they didn't have me down and he was all booked. Now normally, I wouldn't flip out, but today, I have them a few choice words. Even in a complete state of desperation, like today, I will never EVER return back to this place. NEVER read more

So clean, so nice, and so friendly! This nail shop is ran by the cutest nail couple Hannah & Leon. They really care about the quality of work that they put into your nails and it shows every time! My shellac manicures last 3 weeks instead of the usual 2 because the produt application is done skillfully and with extreme detail! the pedicures are rocking also, I get my blistered-black-toe-nail-runners feet turned into those of a foot model every time! This is the best nail salon in Portland. My friend and I drive three and a half hours to get our nails done here. They do exactly what you ask for your nails. And if your not sure what you want then Leon will figure it out for you. Their prices are fine. You get what you pay for and that is true when it comes to your nails. I have never had a nail break off and I have even tried to rip them off and I can't get them off. They are great quality nails and they look amazing. They also do a great pedicure here and they get all your dead skin off unlike some places where they just try and get people in and out. I've been coming here for 3 years now and won't go anywhere else. Almost everyone I know goes to I Love Nails and it's for good reason. I bartend and and customers always ask me where I get my nails done. I'm suuuper hard on my hands and my nails have always been extremely durable without looking thick or clunky. Hannah and Leon are amazing, all the staff is super sweet. Parking is rarely an issue. They also have a waaaay better color selection for gel polish than I've seen anywhere else. It was my birthday and I had made an appointment at Vienna Nails just down the street for myself and three friends. When we arrived at Vienna they were very rude and full up with people. They said they would squeeze us in and began telling the women that they were working on that they'd have to finish. It was terribly awkward so we decided to leave. Which was fortunate. We walked into I LOVE Nails and were pleasantly surprised by how large and clean it was (MUCH nicer than Vienna). The friendly staff greeted us right away and got us set up for our pedicures. Shortly after we sat down they gave us drinks. They had a great selection of magazines and comfy massage chairs. The staff was not only friendly, but they did a wonderful job with our pedicures. Amazing, quick, reasonably priced, and gave his artistic input as to what he thought would look good. Too often, when you ask a nail tech/hair stylist/beautician in this town their opinion, they are reluctant to share their artistic vision and will only ask "well, what do YOU like?" (or some variation). So, yes. This is my new nail place. I'm very picky about nail services in this town, because I feel it's a very saturated industry and they should be working harder or better or JUST WORKING IN AN HONEST FASHION to retain regular clientele.
