They also had a lot of aburi nigiri that looked fantastic that I'll have to get when I go back. Sashimi and Sushi Combo - 8/10 - great Sushi and very fresh! Takoyaki and Chicken Karage - 8/10 - the takoyaki was tasty and not doughy, but there wasn't much octopus inside. The karage was very juicy, but needed some more flavour Popeye Roll - 6/10 - Popeye rolls are a frequent item for me since I love Gomae. The sauce was well made and flavoured, but the roll was bland overall Calamari Roll - 7.5/10 - A very unique and tasty roll! The winner in this dish was definitely the sauce on top. It was an unagi sauce with kewpie mayo and black vineger. The downside was that there wasn't a lot of Squid inside the batter Taste - 7.5/10 Apperance - 7.5/10 Decor - 7/10 Overall - 7.5/10 This is a very quaint and enjoyable restaurant with some great offerings. One thing I didn't like was that the rice was hard. It tasted like left over rice. Not cooked well. They are skimpy on the fish in the sushi and sashimi. Too much rice. Décor was ok. I came here on a Sunday for lunch and yes they were busy. Most of the sushi restaurants in the hood don't open on Sunday. For that reason we chose here. read more

I had the chirashi bowl and it was not that fantastic. I keep forgetting Vancouver is not the place for chirashi. My bad. Sushi rolls, yes (only for the sheer varieties available, and not for the delicate taste found in better Japanese restaurants or in Japan), but other things are a bit of a hit and miss. The sashimi in the chirashi was decent, fresh. The rice was horrible. Hard and dry and it make me wonder if it was not cooked properly or if it was old leftover rice. The service could be better too. It took a long time for someone to even serve us water, and it was a hot summer day too. They only turned on the AC when more people entered the restaurant. Our go to sushi place. Their donburris are great and the sushi rice is amazing just on its own. The fish always seems fresh and top quality. Puting the name heaven into something it's surely setting the bar hight. But it doesn't live to such heavenly expectations. The service it's friendly the restaurant could be better set and the menu although it does it's job could be better organized. It's the food heavenly ?? It's tasty but does it's job. It's a restaurant with potential for greater culinary things but far from heavenly. When I went there it was lunch time and the place was mostly empty if I judge this restaurant only on this things are far from pleasant. The music was at perfect volume and very to my taste. I ordered the alaska roll and three pieces of nigiri. I thought the food was quite fresh and yummy. The alaska roll comes with mayo inside which caught me by surprise but it was yummy. The nigiri was all good too except the toro which was just ok. It's good quality for the neighborhood and I think the most commendable aspect is that it's stayed consistent in quality over the years which is actually very difficult to see in the burbs. I called in for take out (first time in a couple months) and from first greeting the hostess was bright & cheerful: bonus points because that immediately puts me in a good mood! When I have them my phone number she new my name!!: "Oh, Jennifer! Thanks for calling us again! What would you like to order today?" She made it personal and I really appreciated that. When I arrived for my pick-up they greeted me warmly, took my payment and informed me that it would be a couple more minutes. The hostess offered me a seat and even though the food was going to be ready shortly they still brought me a cup of hot tea for my wait! I felt so valued and I loved the extra mile they went! I loved the entire experience from start to end. There was a consistent level of happy and bright energy and as a diner, that goes a long way. This is my favourite sushi place on east Columbia. The staff is really nice and friendly and the sushi has always been fresh and well made. They ran out of a dish I ordered once as a walk in (no phone number given) so they couldn't call to let me know. They made a substitution that was as close as possible and confirmed that it was okay when I returned to pick up my food. They also gave us an extra appetizer to make up for the error. Delicious! The special maki rolls have creative and flavorful sauces. I went for the first time and ordered the shrimp killer roll and the awesome roll. The vinegar and unagi sauce was to die for! Noticed that they only had 1 waitress doing all the ordering, serving, answering phones, cleaning of tables and was generally overwhelmed. Food is ok, but service was lacking. I don't understand why they don't have at least one other server to help out, especially when the restaurant can be busy. And because it was so busy, we never did get a tea refill when we asked, and she had gotten our order wrong. read more

Decided to come here with my family on Saturday for lunch based on a number of positive reviews. Arrived at the restaurant around 12:30pm expecting the place to be filled but to my surprise only one other table was occupied. The waitress was extremely friendly. She greeted us immediately when we arrived and throughout our visit she was very attentive constantly filling up our tea cups and bringing us extra bowls and cutlery when needed. The food however was just okay. Ordered a bento box, spicy salmon combo, and udon noodles. Definitely nothing to write home about. I'm not sure why this restaurant is rated with only a "$" as I found their prices to be slightly higher than other popular places like Sushi Garden or California Sushi which are in the "$$" category. Overall, I enjoyed the amazing service but I probably won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Check out Sushi Heaven's new menu items! The Crispy Calamari Roll is outrageous. There is calamari rolled inside with avocado and cucumber. There are also rings of calamari served on the outside of the roll. And it's all drizzled in Japanese mayo and unagi sauce. Yummy! For a more simple taste, we also tried the Tofu Tempura. It has tofu tempura inside and drizzled with sesame and soy sauce. I also usually order the Takoyaki here if I can. The chicken karage is boneless and so good. Every item we ordered was steaming fresh right off the grill. I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I will continue coming back for sure. read more
