Put it this way, the only print I would kind of consider wearing is the simple fish print in black, no other colors! And then next thing you know, there's also a baby section as well for my son! Having a baby changes you, I'll still thrift for my clothes, but I wouldn't mind getting my son the newest clothes from a locally owned, woman ran business. Also, I LOVE being able to text the store and reserve items, no driving all the way to find out it's not there! And the quality of the clothes is definitely there. Decided to buy a baby onesie for our family photos and another baby onesie for our friends who are pregnant. I know baby clothes don't last long, but I just couldn't help myself! Overall, I may only like a couple things from FE, but the fact that it's supporting local is a big plus for me! Also, the quality of the clothing is so great considering the price.

I decided to do the long walk from Waikiki down to the store, and I was so rewarded for the effort. Walking up and the row of epic restaurant stalls had me grinning from ear to ear. There were so many delicious options OUTSIDE the store that I almost never made it in. From handrolls featuring the freshest seafood from Hokkaido to wagyu kushiyaki and more, my mouth was watering seeing it all beautifully displayed in the windows, and I'm surprised no one said anything about my gawking. Don Q is such a fun store because they have anything and everything you can think of across nearly every category. If I said they're like the Japanese Walmart, it wouldn't hit quite right because the quality and breadth of the selections here are far better. My favorite part of visiting Don Q has to be the incredible array of Asian specialty ingredients and snacks they sell and the reasonable prices. I picked up some gifts here including some exceptional styles of furikake and togarashi, but saw way too many other things I wanted. They also have amazing prepared foods here, specifically Japanese items. There's an entire sushi counter featuring all cuts of bluefin and more, freshly made onigiri, great selection of bentos and and poké too! You really owe it to yourself to visit!

Go up the ramp to dedicated parking stalls for patrons; avoid the stalls demarcated, reserved. There are street metered stalls along Lafite and, the adjacent structure, Kaimuki Plaza. Plantoem offers a relaxing ambiance upon entrance. Navigate the jungle of plants to access the cafe counter. I requested the Yerba Mate which is only available for in-house. A container with filtered straw was provided alongside a thermal carafe...there was enough hot water for 2.5 servings. The barista was a bit bemused when I ( humorously ) mentioned I swallowed some sediment from the straw...not being used to drinking yerba mate in this traditional way. I felt a little less of a gringo after that beverage. The main dining area is to the left. A nook to the back of the counter is a laptop/device free zone...and I sat in that hideaway...perused a book on interior design ( a few books are available) ...and enjoyed the yerba mate. Hours are from 700a till 500p - Mondays thru Thursdays. Fridays are 700a to 700p. Saturdays are 1000a - 700p. Sundays: 1000a until 500p.

Koolau Farmers is a locally owned/operated nursery and garden supply business that are home…read moregardening experts. It was started in 1938 by East Oahu farmers and a Kailua papaya cooperative as a farmer-founded business entity that shifted from farming to home gardening. Today, it supplies plants, floral arrangements, fertilizers, pesticides, garden tools, etc. for home gardeners. There are currently two locations for Koolau Farmers: Kaneohe and Honolulu (McCully). This review is for the Honolulu location. Items that the McCully location carry include: bromeliads, flowers, fruit, orchids, palms, fruit trees, peppers, tropical fruits, shrubs, soil, trees, veggies, hono hono orchids, dwarf fruit trees (Meyer lemon, Tahitian limes, Naval oranges, jabong, grafted mango, avocado). It also offers seed starting supplies, fertilizers for plants and flowers, worm composting bins; and info re growing and care of indoor potted plants, organic gardening, soil testing, and proper lighting. What brought us to Koolau Farmers is my lilikoi vine that I've had in my back yard for a number of years. With the help of bees, the vine had flourished and produced many delicious fruits for homemade lilikoi desserts, such as lilikoi chiffon pie, lilikoi curd, lilikoi bars, and more. But in recent years, the flowers would bloom, but because there are no bees to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, no fruits are produced. Questions to Koolau Farmers confirmed that there is a lack of nesting sites for carpenter bees (I think they're known as the black bumblebees that we no longer see) to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, resulting in a lack of fruit. According to Koolau Farmers, the flowers must be hand-pollinated instead. Staff provided instructions to my hubby on how to hand-pollinate the beautiful lilikoi flowers. A work in progress, and I'm sure more questions to follow. Then the next project will be our dwarf local orange tree. Where is the fruit? There's a single tiny orange on it, yes, only one! Hope Koolau Farmers can help us on this one! Another work in progress. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and provides helpful guidance. An unlikely spot in urban Honolulu to have a nursery and garden supply store, but I'm glad that it's there! The interior space is not that big, but houses boxes of fertilizers and various home gardening equipment for home gardeners. There may be displays of seasonal items on how to grow certain plants, such as hono hono orchids. Open daily from 8a to 5p. Free parking in the private lot. On the outside private lot are scattered variety of healthy local plants, herbs, orchids, and fruit trees. We look forward in working with Koolau Farmers and knowing that they are there to help us with our home gardening needs!

This review is way overdue, but having been styled by Louise in both LA and Hawaii, I can confirm she is the best! Louise "shops my closet", mixing and matching in new ways to update my look, telling me what to toss, taking beloved outdated pieces and showing how I can tailor them to get even more contemporary use, while telling me what and where to get pieces that are needed. Best of all, she knows how to work on a budget and is always on the lookout for new things she thinks will work into my wardrobe and lifestyle. I have a vintage jacket she found for me 10 years ago I still wear and get compliments on! Never cookie cutter, Louise listens to what makes you feel comfortable, but knows fashion and what looks good on your body to push you a little out of the usual fallback comfort zone. I searched high and low and asked employees at Nordstrom Rack in Kakaako, Nordstrom in Ala Moana, Macy's in Ala Moana and Pearlridge, Uniqlo in Ala Moana, Zara in Ala Moana, Saks Off 5th, Old Navy, Banana Republic in Waikele, Ross Dress for Less in Kahala with zero results. These are my reasons that I prefer to shop for gowns in person. Petite size needs some type of alteration(s) with common areas of adjustments in the length, shoulders, and so forth. She helped me select a few formal gowns while keeping in mind type of event and color(s). There's only one gown I found appealing that's befitting for my role. It was 50% off plus $9 extra off regular price. All sales and discounts final.

The only downside is that the products are a little pricy (it's way cheaper online from Pleasers) but the ease of trying on all the styles and sizes may make up for that.

She also taught me how to use the fun hairpieces I have to make fancy updos without going to the salon. I own one ponytail and two shorter 'messy updo' pieces which are great when I go out but don't have time to do my hair. I also just bought a piece to give me more volume when I wear my hair down.
