Elizabeth is every bit artist and scientist. I needed a capsule wardrobe for a work abroad season. I needed appropriate sartorial choices for Portland, Miami, Madrid, Istanbul, Zagreb, Split, Stockholm, Dubai, and Salt Lake City. In one 50L cotopaxi travel bag, I had swim gear (I raced the Bosphorus challenge in Istanbul), clothing for going out in all of those cultures, clothing for business meetings with members of the Royal Family from Dubai and also Bahrain, meetings with Venture Capitalists in Madrid, fashionable olympic weightlifting/sporty gear for Croatia, and dressy casual gear for all over the EU. She had a way of humanizing me to any human, had a way of making my personality pop through my attire and statement pieces, and ultimately made me feel confident in any culture. She did this by listening to my needs, assessing my body metrics, and working within a budget I had set. Working with Elizabeth is such a delight! She was so organized and communicative, from before our color analysis session right up until the end of it. There are so many aspects of her working style that I appreciate: - It felt so personal, in a cozy and intimate setting, where you are very much a collaborator in the process of understanding your coloring; - Elizabeth has put in the work to educate herself on the wide range of skin tones in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities, and has made conscientious efforts to study how colors resonate with our undertones and overtones; - Working with Elizabeth is like being in a masterclass, where she teaches you specific vocabulary related to color analysis/theory (e.g. tints, tones, shades etc), and also teaches you about how colors connect with your undertones or overtones when comparing how different colors look against your skin. I notice that she doesn't talk about colors as being "good" or "bad", and is very specific about how they highlight certain facial features or connect with your over/undertone. I find this superbly helpful in understanding why I was drawn to jewel-colored clothing (they connect with my undertones), while also being drawn to warm makeup colors and gold jewelry (they connect with my overtones). - What stands out for me is the advice Elizabeth gives for what to do AFTER the color analysis session, which is so thoughtful and sustainable. She advises against doing a wardrobe overhaul and going shopping immediately with your seasonal color palette, but to continue wearing all the colors in your wardrobe, exploring your relationship to them and observing how others around you respond to these color decisions. And after doing this for a long while, you can be more mindful and intentional with slowly evolving your wardrobe. Working with Elizabeth on a color analysis is not just about finding a defined answer about what my season is, but it's about equipping myself with a more discerning eye and greater knowledge of how we interact with colors daily. I feel like she put me on a new trajectory of exploring colors and noticing the effects, rather than arriving at the end of a journey where I restrict myself to certain colors only. Seeing Elizabeth was life changing. I am 47 and wanting to beautiful and fresh through menopause.
