Under Covid 19 the place is closed their dinn in seating and only open to-go. I found out they charged full tax on every items they sold. I talked to their owner, the owner argue said because they have seating they are told by the city to charge tax even for to go, and gave me an example how McDonald charge tax on drive thru too. The line does move but it just feels a bit cramped. It's just the layout of this spot. Parking is a bit tricky during peak hours. The drinks and service at this location are standard. I don't know where to start! An hour ago I went in to order my D5, I am excited about and I had it before at i-Tea Oakland. I was running Thur my eyes (menu) to find where my D5 the cashier talked with her coworker a bit, that's fine. I said I would like the D5 She repeated with asking D5? That's what I thought she said. i-Tea was my go-to boba shop while visiting the Bay Area and staying at Alameda! The store offers a wide variety of drinks, and what I loved about them was how much topping they put in your drinks. I personally love chewing on boba balls and lychee jelly bits a lot, so that was a huge plus. My favorite drink here was the Passionfruit Tea, and I really enjoyed their Hong Kong Puffle as well. It was very chewy, soft, and came out piping hot! Whenever I get a Hong Kong Puffle back at my hometown, the stores I go to tend to overcook it and make it too crispy, but I found that i-Tea got it just right. This place seems to get crowded pretty frequently, and whenever I went there was a sizable line at the cashier. Was disappointed by the popcorn chicken i bought today. Everytime i order popcorn chicken from here has been very delicious and consistent. i'm not sure why the sudden change. The chicken was overfried (as if it was burnt) so it's pretty hard to chew. Perhaps they overcooked it or maybe it has to do with the oil. Another i-tea! I prefer this location than the Chinatown location because it has food, takes card, has seating, parking lot, and a restroom! However the space isn't well designed and I try to avoid coming here during their rush hour. There are 2 entrances, which makes it challenging during rush hour because the line starts building up with people coming in from the front and back of the shop and you have to figure out where the line ends. And you can't easily walk from one end to the other because there's always a cluster of people in the middle watching drinks be made, blocking the pathway. What's also not so great during rush hour is the parking lot gets filled quick and all that's left are compact spaces. There are other differences from this location as well such as their food - they don't give you tartar sauce for their fried fish. They give you this pinkish honey mustard sauce. All the times I've been here, they don't top off the curly fries with nori here, even when I asked and told them that's how every other I-tea I've been to does. I must have arrived at the wrong time because there was a long line, 4 pm on a Friday afternoon. i-Tea offers a large assortment of teas, smoothies and food ie. deep fried chicken strips, tofu and other snacks plus they have ramen soups. This is probably the 3rd i-Tea location I've been to in the Bay and still one of my top picks for chain boba places (over Sharetea for example). The Alameda location was surprisingly spacious when I came for the first time and the service was fast. Line was long though, because it was happy hour. What are the happy hour drink letter and number combinations? No one really knows for sure, but what we did find out for sure was that the sago series is NOT eligible for happy hour discounts and that's great because my friends and I only went for the Mango Sago drink *eye roll*. Parking is not that great, you'll have to find some street parking that is dangerously close to the driving cars and make sure you don't get hit as you're getting out of your car. Mango Sago is always #1 in my heart and they put so much fresh fruit in their drinks, it's awesome. Even though it's not happy-hour-eligible I bought it anyways, and between 3 people we bought 4 of them, spending over $20 total. The space accommodates a group of 35+ easily and they let you bring in your own treats. I had the roasted oolong milk tea with half sweetener and the egg puffs. I like being able to choose sweetness level but it's always a gamble when I don't know what "full sweetness" tastes like. 50% turned out to be just what I was looking for. One of my favorite all-time boba shops in the Bay Area. Compared to the one in Oakland, there are plenty of tables so you can sit down and hang out with friends. The line is always long and takes awhile for the orders to come out. Drinks average around $4. Free parking lot in the back or street parking in the front. mango sago: there are mango chunks mixed with the sago! Compared to other places I've been to, this is the only boba shop that has it. The drink is more on the tart than sweet side. It has a thick and creamy consistency which pairs well with the soft texture of the sago. At $5 a drink, the cup is a decent size. I'm not sure if this is premade but it usually comes out faster than the fruit tea or boba orders. I'm not a huge fan of fruity drinks, but this mango sago is amazing! Overall, the quality and taste between the Oakland and Alameda one is exactly the same. The Alameda is my favorite since this is bigger versus the small shack in Oakland Chinatown.
