M2 is my favorite drink there but they have a lot of nice combos that are not just the build your own boba variety/Starbucks for boba

The selection is great, but it seems that every time I order something here, they don't have half of the ingredients to make the drink I want. In this case, they did not have the cream that goes with their cream selection which basically omits a fourth of the menu. Also, they didn't have the flavoring to a drink which eliminates one of their most popular drinks. Everybody got the mango sago, so I followed the wave and ordered it too. Oh wow. I was so disappointed in my drink. After the first sip, I knew that I made a huge mistake. The sago has such a weird texture. It flaked with every chew. It wasn't chewy like what one would expect. The mango drink was okay, but it was a bit too sweet for me. They also didn't have an option to lower the sweetness for this particular drink. read more

I've come here on two occasions, both times on weekdays at around 1-2pm. Every single time, there is a long line. Not outrageously long, but long enough that it might deter impatient people from entering the queue. A friend and I have a debate about the best bubble tea in the city. She judges her bubble tea based on tapioca/boba; I judge mine on the tea itself. If I follow her criteria, Boba Guys wins, hands down. Possibly for both boba and tea. I think i-Tea has somewhat mediocre boba, but great tea. The first time around, I ordered a G3 milk tea. Grass jelly, mango pudding, and boba. I waited for about 10-15 minutes, but the line was exorbitantly long so I can't complain. And I'm a pretty patient person, so I felt fine waiting. When I got to the register, the cashier informed me that they ran out of regular boba. On a weekday. She asked if I wanted white boba instead, and I said yes. Essentially, it's the same as regular boba but a different color, but I couldn't even tell. It just looked black to me. I paid $4.25 and she gave me a stamp card. My drink came out in about five minutes or so, in a chubby cup! Wasn't expecting that. The tea was good. I got 30% sweetness and 30% ice. It definitely could have been more flavorful, but there was a good balance of milk and tea. Since it's a green tea, I'm sure that the flavors are more muted. The boba was chewy. Standard. Higher grade than Quickly's, but still not up to par with Boba Guys. I came here again on Wednesday at 2pm or so. The line wasn't as long, and I ordered a pomelo aloe vera QQ. It reminded me of the fruity drinks you can buy in China from street stalls; similar execution of a fruit juice that isn't necessarily a tea. I got 30% sweetness and 30% ice, as per usual. I'm assuming that the QQ doesn't have tea in it, but it's straight up pomelo juice. It was slightly tangier than I expected, and I wish that I had gotten 50% sweetness. Otherwise, the aloe vera chunks were standard. And the (regular) boba was the same as the G3. It was $3.75, so I wasn't too heartbroken about it. Honestly, this place is good. They have a large variety of teas and fruit juices and smoothies. A friend told me that the mango sago is their most popular drink, but it's a whopping $5. That's essentially a meal in Chinatown. Maybe next time I'll try that. I usually come here when I'm in the area and/or craving bubble tea, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Great place! We had the three drinks split between 4 people - definitely enough as an appetizer. - 3G (boba milk tea with grass jelly and pudding). Good drink, one of the best in SF. The boba is lacking though.. it felt like it wasn't soaked and cooked all the way though. The tea was strong and didn't taste watered down unlike most other boba cafes. The grass jelly and pudding tasted like any other cafe's grass jelly and pudding. - Mango sago had a lot of mango and the sago was excellent! The drink itself was very smooth and the mango chunks was an excellent surprise. - Rose Green Tea with Panna Cotta. Very nice and crisp green tea with a deep rose flavor. The addition of Panna Cotta is very recommended since it gave the drink some solid noms and made the drink very smooth. Just like seemingly all other authentic Asian boba cafes, they give you a choice on how much ice and how much sweetness to have in your drink. Luckily we came right before dinner and there was no wait. Which was great since we were grabbing dinner at San Tung and there's always a wait there! LAZY STAFF. Just know that when ever they are "out of something", you can hear them speak in Chinese about it quickly and it usually goes: "do you want to cut up an avocado now?" "no" "ok I'll tell her we're out"... This goes for avocados, mangos, hot drinks, creamer sometimes, etc. They are almost never actually out of anything and I don't know why they think we won't understand their Chinese on Irving of all places?! She didn't suggest anything else similar. So I stepped aside to look at the menu again and thought she didn't even tell me the reason they didn't have that drink. This i-Tea used to be my favorite location. But now, the quality has been worse and worse everytime I go. The parking has always sucked since it's in a busy part of the sunset. And the quality of drinks have gone down. One of my go to is the mango sago and recently they have cut out the mango chunks and their sago is kinda hard. I was craving a sago drink tonight and i-Tea was the only place who claimed to accept credit cards on Yelp. So I went out of my way and headed there by bus. I was so excited to get my mango sago drink, but once I got there, the employee quickly informed me they were all sold out. I guess it was partially my fault because I should have known the ingredients for their mango sago would sell out. However, they should be prepared with many ingredients knowing that this is their most popular item on their menu since 2012. Or they should at least have a notice on their information section on their Yelp page of an estimated time they usually sell out. I asked the employee what time do they usually sell out of the mango sago, and was informed they sell out at "around the afternoon at 7pm". I'm confused if she meant late afternoon, like 4 or 5pm? Or if afternoon is considered evening to her? Since I came all the way there, I decided to order the rose green tea with grass jelly in hopes it would taste like my favorite elegant lady rose tea from T4. Sadly, it didn't taste like it. The rose green tea tasted too sweet, even though I said regular sweetness level. The drink also tasted a bit syrupy. The grass jelly was really good and fresh though. The drink wasn't worth the time I took to get there, and not worth $4.75. I had to pay .50 extra for using my card. *It's a $15 minimum for using card or a charge of 50 cents. UPDATE: I went to i-Tea the next day to try to get their mango sago again. I got there around 245pm. It's almost like the mango sago popped out of nowhere because right when I ordered, it was right in front of me. Their mango sago was better than I expected; it was really good. It was worth $5.45 (4.95 + .50 credit card charge). The drink was made from fresh yellow mangos, and there were little bits of mangos in the drink too. We go here often and the staff is always rude and have zero knowledge about customer service. I asked for sago in my tea, the cashier said no problem but this grouchy woman who was preparing drinks, immediately corrected her and said you can't give him sago. I said I'd pay for it and the grouchy woman refused. She was doing me a favor by selling me her over-priced, very sub standard boba drink - I THINK NOT. My tea was tasteless, toppings were nothing like the pictures showed, just a few in the bottom of the glass, there was almost no boba, the mango was like mush, it was nasty slimy like it had been sitting and rotting in the bottom of a container for days and strawberry was non-existent. Don't patronize this rude woman who thinks she's doing the customer a favor by allowing them in her store, who never greets you with a smile or a hello and charges you to use a credit card if you don't spend a certain amount. I came for the Mango Sago since everyone raves about it, but they sold the last one to the person right before me! :( It was about 6pm on a Tuesday so beware if you're trying to get this drink. Instead I got a Mango Crystal (didn't know what the clear stuff was on the bottom, but it's jelly!) with 50% sweetness. Definitely don't get 100% sweetness because 50% was sweet enough, but I almost could have gone down to 30%. I loved how you could tell it was made from real mangoes from the texture, and there were a bunch of chunks of real mango in the drink. Definitely recommend this drink if you love mango and if you want something refreshing! I have a bunch of favorite boba places, but i-tea isn't where I come for boba. I visit I-tea for their mango sago drink. Have you tried the mango sago at golden island?!? Well you can now get it in a drink version at i-tea!! It has more coconut milk than the mango sago at golden island but it is soooo good. I'd definitely call ahead to see if they have any mango sago available because it runs out fast! Make sure to sign up for their rewards program! I think it's purchase 12 drinks get one free but it excludes the mango sago! I haven't tried any of their other drinks so the 4 stars is for the mango sago! Yummy!! read more

Mango Sago!!! If you love mango, this is a must. It tastes unbelievably similar to the dessert, and pairs well with that dessert stomach you always have open. Other drinks that I've tried were refreshing on a chilly or warm day! You can also adjust the ice and sweetness level on most of the drinks. For a boba fanatic, this place did not meet my criteria. Maybe I came on a bad night but my boba was hard and not chewy whatsoever. It did not have any sweetness to it either but it's probably because how used to I am with honey boba. The milk tea I had was mediocre. I had the Oolong Milk Tea and I felt I've had it better elsewhere. One of the plus sides was the speed of the drink making. I ordered and my drink was ready before I even left the cash register. The drink menu had a good selection of drinks &a toppings that I will try someday before I can fully judge how much I like this place. I saw that the mango sago is a popular pick here so I'll definitely come back for that! I recommend bringing cash because it's an extra 50 cents if you use card if the order is under $15. There is a Chase right across the street that you can go to if you do! Overall, average boba place. I didn't find anything special about this place and definitely didn't like the boba here. i-Tea is one of my more frequent stops for milk tea and sago. It can be a bit of a pain to find parking here, but make a few loops as turn around for spots is relatively fast. The store is very small, with essentially just two or three seats and a bit of standing space. Some of my favorite drinks: Roasted Oolong Milk Tea + Grass Jelly: I love the roasted milk tea flavor with grass jelly. The grass jelly here isn't sweetened, but the milk tea can be really sweet so it works out. Mango Sago: This is pretty sweet but I love the balance between mango and sago in this. It is really creamy, a bit too sweet, but an enjoyable dessert and a nice sugar boost. Overall, the drinks are pretty good, but way too sweet. The sugar levels seem to be poorly controlled, as sometimes 1/2 sweet will be perfect, other times way too sweet, and I have a lot of trouble finding my perfect sweetness level. My main gripe however is generally with the service at this place. I have had multiple occasions where the staff was rude and occasionally contradictory. I got laughed at for asking what flavors of sago they offer (My favorite sago is the taro sago that I've had at the Oakland location), to which the two workers at the front desk (not sure why they need two people manning one register) responded, one laughing at me for asking what they seemed to think was a stupid question and answering - "just mango" while the other replied that "THERE'S A LOT OF FLAVORS". I would likely be back, but I would appreciate the experience with better service and more consistent sweetness levels. read more

Yassss my fav boba place in the city -- although I admit, I get picky and then attached, which makes me hesitant to try new places... but whatever because I don't imagine it gets much better than here :) Whenever I'm in the area I'll stop by here for a lychee/ green milk tea. I like that you can actually taste and appreciate the tea, that the boba tastes fresh and chewy, and that the drinks don't come too sweet at standard (100%), although I reduce my sweetness level to 80% or 50% anyway. Today, I got the black milk tea with boba. The boba was soft, but I noticed it's not that round. It has a good honey taste though. The tea taste is good but not super strong. Long line...tiny cramp place, no seating area. Run out of items very quickly at this location. Waited in line for 20 mins to put in my order of a peppermint green tea boba. Paid for it and was waiting for my order. 10 mins later, was told they can't make my order since they ran out of the peppermint. Had to change my order to Panda tea. The drink was fine. The boba is soft, but due to all the negatives, I won't be coming back here. There r enough boba tea places around that will provide a better experience. read more

I usually love coming here; the drinks are great and have good quality. But I went today and ordered 3 drinks. 2 of them were done in time, but one was missing and took so long for them to finally make it (mind you, there were plenty of the same drink being made). We finally got the last one and as I was finishing my own drink, I saw the sticker of the missing drink in my cup. The reason why it was lost was because the sticker for it was in my cup. Why? i-don't-think-i'm-too-impressed :( womp! Unfortunately for i-Tea, I was not blown away. I was grabbing Thai take-out for dinner and was craving boba per usual. Busted out my Yelp app and saw that i-Tea was literally across the street from Chabaa and sported a shiny 4 Stars average rating! On a regular ol' Tuesday night, i-Tea had about 6 people waiting inside. The shop is located along the busy street of Irving and 23rd, so street/meter parking is difficult to find at times. Some unfortunate gripes and some positives I have with i-Tea: 1//(-) I realize SF is cramped and lacking in space, but i-Tea is a take-out/to-go boba place. There is one chair inside and a built-in table along their glass wall. The interior is cluttered and cramped, and there were boxes everywhere. It's one thing to have limited space, but it's another issues to be disorganized and looks unkempt. However, kudos to their shiny menu and presentation though. The purple and white color scheme reminds me of Purple Kow. 2//(+) Love their menu offerings! Once again, i-Tea is very very similar to Purple Kow. Perhaps competitors in the same region of Taiwan? But nonetheless, I appreciate their creative offerings of special combos, milk teas, kreamas, fruity drinks, etc. I opted to try the OOLONG TEA KREAMA with black pearls. Overall the tea taste was strong, perhaps too strong for my liking. My creama ranking thus far: (1) Sharetea, (2) Gong Cha, (3) T4, ... (?) i-Tea. I will have to return and either try a milk tea or oolong milk tea. 3//(-) Nooo I dislike bland pearls yuck :( Their black pearls were chewy but it lacked entirely in taste. There was no hint of sweetness or anything. I was sad. Maybe I've been spoiled by honey boba. But I like sweet pearls, just my preference. 4//(-) Expensive prices! If you use a card, you need a minimum of $15 or else it's a $.50 surcharge. I get that they are a small business, but that is such a turn-off :( Most drink prices range from $3.50 - $4+ baseline. OK, I went here late afternoon to get some Bubble tea and drinks. As the adage says in the food paradise world,"If there are a lot of people lining up at a food establishment. If you have to get and buy it, and it taste amazing!". I ordered 3 drinks - Litchee Frost with Tapioca Pearls, Taro milk tea with boba and jasmine milk tea with boba. Each cost around $4.75. When we were waiting for our drinks - we noticed their system making their drinks is so awkward. I mean one person for each station, but there was a build-up of drinks that were taking too long that are ready to be served. Then my brother was waiting impatiently because it was taking more than 15 minutes for his taro milk tea with bubbles ready. Then 1 employee told 1 supervisor - we are out of taro. At that moment, they should have called the customer if they wanted to replace a drink, and not wait long and get it served. In my rating standards thats -2. Then put whatever amount of taro powder in your drink, and they just brushed it off or just served it that way. That's actually cheating your way to make some profit. Their system is way too slow, one person handling each station like making teas, then another putting boba, then another finishing the orders. 2 of the employees were new and kind of slow so there was a build-up on the orders. Bad! Their system should be changed as tag team and getting each of the employees knowing the recipes and making each drink from start to finish, and ready to serve. Call out numbers in order or not whatever is finished and ready to serve. Taking orders is no problem here, but making drinks and get it out when it is ready is a huge problem. And customer service coming from the team making the drinks is very poor on just what happened to my brother's drink - little taro powder and didn't resolve the issue like calling the customer to replace a different drink if you run out and very low on an ingredient. The owner should increase their yields on ingredients to satisfy all customers, so that they don't run out of product on any given day. Operations wise is very bad here. Customer service needs to be improved and not be neglected. Another thing here is change your system of making drinks because employees need to be trained and knowing recipes. Each of the employee should know how to make drink from start to finish = ready to serve. Yesterday was a very bad day for them and not getting my business again. Not going on this location anymore! So glad Teaway is gone, good riddance. i-tea is yet another chain. My first run in was in Oakland. Both locations are TINY. Barely any room to stand inside and order your drink. Both locations operate the same. Wait in line, cashier takes your order, and the cashier periodically stops taking orders to distribute drinks. Some think this system is inefficient, but I believe it works because it slows down the flow of incoming drink orders so that those making the drinks have time to catch up. Pretty big menu. I have actually stopped drinking milk teas and I don't even eat boba anymore! I keep coming back here for fresh mango sago (so fresh.. there are boxes and boxes of mangoes stacked up inside!) and pomelo green tea with aloe. You can control the amount of sweetness and the amount of ice. Don't stand inside to wait for your drink though. It's humid, cramped, and stinks like sweat. Sunset is getting more competitive with boba. Boba places opening left and right. This place highly resembles those of HK types. Mangoes, Mangoes, Mangoes everywhere! I mean, Mangoes are the best fruit out there right? Well, I came after dinner. I suppose my mistake, because line was long and wait took long. It's a small place, so very limited waiting area. I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea with agar boba. It was yummy and the right amount of sweetness for me. I loved my drink and I'm sure their mango drinks won't disappoint either. I love the varieties they have here and the fact they use fresh mangoes. With lots of other fresh ingredients such as avocado. Love the tea! We always order the black tea with 80% cream with coffee jelly. Always he hit! This actually would be a 4.5 star however last time we went the tea was way too thick and we could barely drink it-- although the flavor was delish.
