We wanted to purchase JR rail passes so we contacted IACE and submitted the required information online. My wife also spoke to their NY office and they helped coordinate an appointment for the following day. IACE travel is inside the Bizhaus building. We paid in advance so the IACE representative had our tickets all printed up and ready to go. We were in and out within about 5 minutes. Very nice experience! I was searching online to purchase the Japan Rail pass, which according to everything I read had to be purchased outside of the country, and after looking around, Iace had the best price and luckily, they had a location in Orange County, so I called right away and spoke to a nice lady who explained what it does and how to purchase it. I paid for them over the phone on my credit card, and she informed me that I can pick them up the following day. I went to their office and spoke to another very nice lady at the counter and got my passes, she explained how to exchange the vouchers for the actual JR pass and where to do that once I arrive into Japan. Having lived in Japan for 12+ years, my Dad would always call IACE Travel to book our vacation tickets. Since I moved to California and my parents still live in Japan I take a trip out to visit them every possible chance that I get. I was surprised to find that there was an IACE Travel only minutes from my house. Since then, I use them every time I need to get a ticket to Narita. The staff at this location are incredible. Their customer service is outstanding and they always go above and beyond to make sure that you get a great deal! I remember a few times where I wanted to book a ticket, but needed to consult with my Dad before making the purchase. It was early morning in Japan and I couldn't get a hold of my dad. The lady understood that the time difference was a pain in the ass and she held my ticket for me until I was ready to make the purchase! I was so relieved! Once you've purchased through them, they keep your name and address on file. So the next time you come to buy a ticket they have all the information they need. All you need to do is give them your credit card number and they will send all the paperwork to your house. If you go to their website, they have great discounted airfare on airlines like Korean and Singapore. I personally ride Korean Air every time! Make sure you book early because the best deals go fast! If you want to find the cheapest JR pass in OC and with awesome customer service, this is the place. I've compared their pricing to the travel agency inside Mitsuwa and every time, this place is always cheaper. I have purchased 3 JR passes so far from them and every time they are quick and so polite. It usually takes about 10-15 min, and they provide you the voucher to redeem the pass. Maybe they're good with helping in person in the office, but on the phone I barely could hear the girl who answered the phone. It's like if she was talking into a pipe or something. I guess if you don't want to get out of the business during Covid-19 times and you're doing only phone and email services, you should take care of the technical issues. Also, when I asked her what I need a help with, she said she doesn't know and she doesn't have information on the COVID-19 travel restrictions with other countries. I talked to a travel consultant at IACE and the travel service was magnificent.. The consultant answered all of our travel questions pertaining to Japan travel. Some of the questions pertained to Rail Pass, metro train pass and ordinary train pass. Each items purchased were explained in detail. One thing I forgot to ask was seat assignment on our flight to Okinawa. When I checked the itinerary at home, the seat assignment was already indicated. We spent over one hour at the travel agency and we were not pressured for any additional service, unless we asked. The consultant was patient and considered. They treated us if we were very special. Came into IACE 2x to book and plan a last minute trip to Japan. First time, I spoke w/the lady sitting behind the counter and she was very nice, informative & helped me narrow down my itinerary, as it'll be my first time in Japan. I didn't book anything at the time because I wanted to look into everything before I made my final decision. I came back & worked w/Yumiko, who was really wonderful. She helped with the flights(got me cheaper tickets than what I could find online), JR pass, limo bus transportation from airport to hotel, and followed up w/emails with all the links to maps, trains/subways, & popular places to eat and visit. One star was given for lack of communication, delayed response to inquiries, surcharges, and poor customer service. This agency was chosen by a teacher / chaperone sponsoring an overseas trip with students. As this was our first experience with this agency and my child's first international trip without family, I asked questions - lots of questions, and asked for access to travel insurance and a thorough itinerary. I discovered that the travel agency charges a 4% surcharge for using credit cards, charges a 10% non-refundable deposit, offered additional cancellation insurance by request, for an additional $17 more than the insurance company's website quote , and was slow in providing details requested - often deferring communication to the teacher / chaperone rather than providing details directly from them. Even with all of that, I chose to pay the non-refundable deposit for the trip and purchased the additional insurance to secure my child's participation a week before the deadline. Without the courtesy of any advanced communication (telephone call, email, or otherwise), my check was returned and my child was removed from the travel list! The check was returned based on the assumption that I seemed uncertain if I wanted my child to participate - which defies all logic! I paid the non-refundable fee AND purchased the cancellation insurance! I feel there was some sort of underlying bias and/or discrimination exercised here by both the travel agency and the teacher / chaperone. Both the travel agency and the teacher / chaperone have not responded to my subsequent email. read more
