This is an example of what dealing with any contractor should be. After much research I had decided to install the Hardie siding. I wanted to use a contractor who was familiar with the product and installed to James Hardie criteria and specifications. I went to James Hardie's website and searched for contractors that are designated as Elite Preferred. ACAE popped up and had impeccable reviews. Starting with the sales person, Joe, he thoroughly explained what they would do for me. He was knowledgeable and personable. There was absolutely no pressure whatsoever. The bid was higher than the others but after researching (ACAE) and speaking with Joe, I was convinced they were the company for me. In this case, you really get what you pay for. I was introduced to Josh, the Project Manager. Once again, very knowledgeable and personable. Very easy to work with and communicated with me on a daily basis. When problems cropped up, he was always there to offer suggestions on how to proceed. His crew, led by Nikolay with Rosty and Eugene, did amazing work. The workmanship is impeccable; the crew was very organized and professional. They always made the worksite safe and clean; leaving everything spotless when they left at the end of the day. I can't emphasize enough the quality of their work. It was just beautiful. The paint crew, led by Vladimir, once again did unbelievable work; totally transforming the appearance of an already exquisite job. Although color decisions were ultimately mine, Vladimir was always willing to offer a suggestion as to which color to use on a particular area. (I had selected four colors for the primary on the house, secondary for the house, trim and the doors.) These individuals collectively transformed my house (a basic ranch) into a home that I am proud to show off. In summation, I would highly recommend A Cut Above Exteriors if you want premium quality work on your home. You can probably get a siding job done cheaper but I truly believe you get what you pay for. Pricing of the project was very reasonable; I think it was the second-lowest quote we got, but Sawtooth's materials and warranty were better. Jose and his crew did a great job. During the job, every day's end-of-day cleanup was great. The end result looks beautiful, and we're very happy with the way everything went. The high end materials and awesome warranty also add to the satisfaction of a job well done. One hiccup: 2 fascia boards with some minor dry-rot at their ends were supposed to be replaced before the installation of new gutters (new gutters were part of the project). Somehow that fell through the cracks, and the gutters went up over the 2 boards. Darrin quickly took ownership of the issue, and did a great job of repairing/rebuilding the corner where the problem was. Very satisfied with the response to the issue! Suggestion to Sawtooth: if new gutters are in the project, they need to be included in the project scope all the way to the end. That includes final inspection and invoicing. The QA inspection by Nick should have been done AFTER the gutters were installed, not before. The inspection should include both the roof and the gutters, not just the roof. The final invoice should be emailed AFTER the gutters are installed, and all issues are settled.

He said his kids had removed it over the weekend. I offered my 36‑foot ladder so he could take a look. He leaned it against my gutter, which began to bend as he climbed, so I stopped him to prevent further damage. He said he would return the next day with a technician and proper equipment to fix the gutter and inspect the skylight. He never showed up. When I called the office, I was told he would call me back, which never happened. Overall, this was an unprofessional experience, and I would not recommend this company.

Within months of them having done this the roof started leaking around the chimney and, it was noted by a contractor doing a different project on my house, that the roofers had lifted the electric roof fan, disrupting the power but did not cap the live wires. When I called Stalcup about these concerns they sent 2 guys out to tar around the chimney and completely remove the fan (a decision not discussed with me) and patch the roof. More recently, in prep to put my house up for sale a pre-inspection check revealed the roof is prematurely at end of life. I called Stalcup to request that they honor the warrantee but they declined to do this instead, they sent a salesman to offer me a bid on a 50 year warrantee roof! There are too many reputable companies out there, do not risk your roof with Stalcup.

This contractor performed a roof inspection and provided a proposal for roof maintenance work, moss and mold mitigation work, and roof-related upgrades at the request of a buyer under contract on the sale of our house. The portions of the contractor's proposal that were agreed upon for the house-sale contract included just the maintenance and mitigation work for a total three-page list of fairly detailed items. Contractor spent approximately one hour at the house and charged more than $1000. When asked for verbal or email verification that all work from the three-page proposal was completed despite the brief time at the house, the contractor did not respond to phone calls or accept voicemails. He responded to email but did not address this question. He was paid through escrow on the closing of our sale and provided an abbreviated proposal to the title company for payment. I would strongly recommend checking references and verifying work with an in-person walkthrough before and after if you consider using this business.

It wasn't just that his price was fair, they had re-sided a co-worker's home ~11 years prior and their name was listed in his stack of references. I spoke to my co-worker and they STILL had good things to say about Gino and Lifetime. In addition, the company is Hardieplank Elite Preferred installer, meaning they were up to date on any installation best practices and that was important to me. Unlike all of the other bids, there was no pressure. Gino was easy to work with, extremely responsive, meticulous attention to detail. No overselling or "the sky is falling" behavior. No eye rolling or treating me like I was a PIB at the end when some little painting details needed extra attention. Was very respectful of me as a woman. No weirdness or disconnect from his team. Everyone was on the same page. And his team are direct employees of Lifetime ... for many multiple of years. This latter point spoke volumes to me. His employees were superlative workers who were VERY careful about picking up debris, daily check-ins, keeping an eye out for my dog's safety, etc. They were on time, in budget and did great work with everyone being super professional. I will definitely hire Gino in the future for other projects. It was such a relief to have real people with a true business ethic not just working on, but taking care of my home. Thank you Gino!

The final painting had to be held off until the weather warmed up, but as soon as the sun came back so did they. I had great help in picking our final house colors as well. I was in contact with the main contractor the whole time and the same great group of guys did it all; siding, windows and painting. After 3 different bids, Lifetime was right in the middle but at the end they gave us a top dollar experience.

We are not wealthy and this project was something we worked hard to be able to do in time for summer 2021. Unfortunately, I had to engage in mediation through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) in order to address suboptimal workmanship, terrible project management, and an attempt to convince me that I received a product that I did not receive, created a lack of trust in the company. We are fearful that the reinforced section of the patio where we hoped to install a hot tub would not hold and may cause damage to our property and/or those using the tub. The result of mediation was the refunding of all but $1000 of the contracted price. Below describes the details of my experience with a patio installation done by Eternal Rock Construction, Inc. (1)The project was several weeks late and the day they came to begin spraying the concrete, their machine broke and they sprayed concrete all over our driveway and garage. They left that evening without cleaning up. It was days before a foreman visited our property despite our calling the company. (2) We were left with a partially complete patio for 5 days and only after a number of emails and phone conversations with members of the team did we eventually get a manager to send a crew to complete our project. To date there remain damages to our property that have not been repaired - latch on fence door, damage to a fence door. (3) The contract states that a patio will be installed using a sand finish. We certainly do not have a sand-washed concrete patio. The concrete is streaked gray, discolored, pock-marked, and with lines running through it. It looks nothing like the photos on your website, nor does it meet the description of sand finish. When I inquired with one of the on-site team members about my concerns related to the color and the finish, he stated "they must be using a different color sand concrete" and that the patio finish will "look better when it dries". This is not the case. (4) There is no moisture barrier installed between the concrete patio and home foundation in order to protect our wood siding from rotting over time. This is incredibly concerning to me and an indication of shoddy workmanship and a disregard for hardworking homeowners who are attempting to improve - not devalue/damage - their property value. (5) The sloping of the patio is extreme. When I spoke with the owner about the slope of the patio, he assured me this was necessary for water drainage but after conferring with another professional, I learned the grade of slope is far more than is necessary. We are hard-working folks who felt shafted by this company. I do not recommend them.

I've contacted the contractor right away to resolve the issue. The next day, I received an email saying they cannot proceed with this project! The Eternal Rock Construction is not keeping with the standards expected, very unprofessional.
