Figured I'd add this review to my list of places to remember and go back to. Really cool spot with an amazing assortment of meats. From duck to quail. Venison to veal. Boar to chicken. Frozen to marinated meats. Jerky, summer sausage, cheese, spices. All kinds of things alongside the unique frozen meat that you won't find in your everyday grocery run. The butchers are hard at work in the background providing excellent quality cuts to their customers (and no, the store doesn't smell like a butcher shop). It's a homey little spot as you go down the driveway that opens up into the parking lot. Great and friendly service. This run I picked up: frogs legs, rabbit, boar sausage, summer sausage. Some of tried in the past, and was craving something unique for the family meals. My aunt is a picky eater who will shy away from such things if she knew what it was. . . so I won't tell her. .

They trim quite carefully and follow your directions to a "t". It's always a delight to open one of the packages (we have them wrap in paper as it stacks better in the freezer) -- almost like a gift these pieces of meat are so beautifully cut. We've really enjoyed their service. Of course, you can just pop into their quaint store and buy some cuts, but we purchase half animals (beef or pork) from nearby Stemple Creek Ranch and then have bud do the cuts for us. The quality of their work is first rate, their communication is excellent, and their price is fair.

The jerky was truly the highlight. The employee let us try all of the jerky samples (generous portions) we wanted, and talked about what kinds of flavors and textures would be best for our tastes. My favorites were the teriyaki turkey jerky and garlic beef jerky. Both varieties have a sweet, tender chew. No dried out jerky here. Make sure to check out the grab and go refrigerators opposite of the cash register. I made sure to grab a bag of smoked bacon ends/chunks which made an absolutely divine addition to my cherry tomato and Marin French Cheese angel hair pasta a few nights later.

If you get the chance to meet him, you'll understand why people talk about him like he's an icon. And the food... wow. The jerky is absolutely to die for. He even told us to stop back by before we headed home because he was making homemade focaccia. We came back, and he wasn't there, but he had the focaccia waiting for us anyway. That small gesture says everything about the kind of person he is. We left with jerky, his amazing garlic horseradish mustard, and summer sausage, and we already can't wait to come back. Next stop will definitely be his deli. Angelo is the real deal, kind, thoughtful, and unforgettable.

We had a great…read moreexperience with them and tried to do it again this year but they weren't taking orders, which led us to Willowside. We opted this year to do a half cow, which now seems to me probably overly optimistic, but that's what we did. We wanted grass fed/grass finished which is usually more expensive and harder to get, but Willowside told us no problem and we put down the $100 deposit. It seemed like almost overnight they were able to get all the stars aligned to get the cow ready and they were already calling me for preferences on cuts. I love the attention to detail we were given on education of different things, because for me having been a vegetarian for many years, this is a lot of info building still. We found out our cow topped the scales at over 800 lbs so our half share was about 412 or so and cost about $2300. We opted for vacuumed packed rather than butcher paper, and gave them our preferences on size of cuts. When we arrived to pick everything up we did have some challenges with making sure we had everything - I was told it would be 8 boxes but it only ended up being 6, and we couldn't find the bone marrow which was one of the big selling points for the half cow. Undaunted we took our prizes home and I set out packing two complete freezers full of meats and bones. I have yet to try the beef but it looks beautiful. Overall it was a good price, quick turn around, and I especially liked that the grass fed cows come from Full Circle Ranches which is in Petaluma and is run by a friend of the owner of Willowside so that's good local business. Definitely looking forward to burgers and roasts in the very near future!

Their produce at two price points of conventional and organic, their meat section offering all local and fresh options, their bakery is delicious and so beautiful, their deli with to-go food and sandwiches, and the soups are amazing, their taco and sushi bar, along with their hot food and salad bar all cannot be beat. They also have a bulk section for nuts, spices, honey, water, candy, coffee, etc. and offer everything else a grocery store would. The prices are a bit higher than other grocery stores, but you're paying for quality. Everything is fresh, the store is always so clean, and people are for the most part always friendly. They hire people with special needs, which in my opinion, is my favorite part of visiting there. Their butchers are always so friendly and helpful. Their only downfall is SOME of their cashiers. They often are lost in their own conversations, and do not greet or engage their customers. They can come across as rude or unfriendly for this reason. But over all, Olivers is my go to spot for all local meats, delicious and beautiful cakes, and to-go food. Highly recommend.

Going to Cattlemens is always a treat. I love a good ribeye, and they make it SO well. Tender, seasoned just right, a beautiful medium rare (that's how I always order it), and a genuinely generous portion. It comes with fresh French bread that is to die for. For years we'd get the "Rustler," but last time our waiter Corey talked us into the bone-in ribeye and MY -- we are never going back. Extra juicy thanks to the bone, and only a little more in cost. Do yourself a favor and order it that way. Your steak comes with a side of veggies or a baked potato (bacon is extra), and you can add garlic fries for a little more. But the real move is the tumbleweed onion rings -- salty, thin, impossible to stop eating. The salads are a bit underwhelming, standard lettuce-and-cucumber territory, but they'll get some greens in you. A few insider tips: Wednesdays are half off bottles of wine, which is exactly why that's our night. There's also happy hour at the bar, and their margarita is one of my favorites. We've sat at the bar plenty of times, and Alicia, Viet, and the rest of the crew are always attentive and so friendly. What really keeps us loyal is how they take care of you. On the rare occasion a steak came out a touch overcooked, they cheerfully fired up a new one -- no fuss. Same when a bottle of wine wasn't right; they swapped it without blinking. That kind of service is why we keep coming back. You cannot get a steak this good at this price anywhere else. Parking is plentiful, too. We love this place.
