It's been a good five-plus years since my last visit to a Cattlemens, the previous one was at the Montgomery Village location before it closed. This newer location, which took over the old Outback Steakhouse space, seems to be booming. As we parked and walked up, we saw a huge crowd waiting to be seated, but thankfully we had made a reservation earlier that day. I don't remember the old menu well enough to compare, but the value across the current menu feels very reasonable. Perfectly cooked, great flavor, generous portions. It never tastes mass-produced or frozen. It tastes like a steak that was actually cut and grilled with care. The Cattlemen's Steakhouse - Rohnert Park location delivers every time, and a big part of that is Corey. I've had him as my server more than once, and he's locked in. Drinks refilled right as you finish. Plates cleared at the perfect moment. Always attentive without hovering. He reads the table and stays ahead of what you need. I hadn't been back to Cattleman's in years, so this was my first time at this location. The last time I ate at Cattleman's was around 2013 at the Montgomery Village location, which has since closed. A lot has changed since then. I remember when the menu was à la carte, and they even brought out real dessert samples to show guests. Now, entrées come with side dishes, and they also offer a two-person deal that includes a shared appetizer, two entrées, and a dessert to share. While Cattleman's is still not cheap, it does feel more affordable than before. Overall, the food was good and all four of us enjoyed our meals. We shared the fried onion appetizer. One person ordered the 12 oz prime rib, another got the baby back ribs, and my husband and I ordered the two-person meal. Suddenly craving a ribeye Sunday night around 7ish? People were waiting outside to be seated but it was just me so I went in and sat at the bar. I was greeted very quickly by Kate and she got me started with a great strawberry lemonade. I ordered my ribeye medium rare with a salad and loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare although I would say too heavy a hand with the salt. But it was very edible and delicious and I enjoyed it very much. There's no way I can eat a steak, salad, baked potato and bread so I asked Kate to put the baked potato in a to-go container when I ordered and she did so and I really appreciate the graat customer service she gave me. Now I know he has to be hot on a regular basis to think of even bringing this to work, and that tells you that they're not cooling the building the way they should. People who come to eat should bring a sweater so that the staff isn't miserable running around in sweltering temperatures just to serve you. I really like Cattleman's. It feels like a Texas steakhouse. The portions are generous and the food is tasty. I don't think any of the food was amazing, but it was pretty decent. My family went to Cattleman's because it was a Dine and Donate night for my daughter's Elementary school. It's really nice when restaurants do this for local schools or other organizations. For dinner, we enjoyed the fried Brussels sprouts appetizer, the warm sourdough bread and butter, and a house salad. The bread was especially good. I ordered their 12 oz prime rib with a loaded baked potato. The prime rib had a strong smoky taste, and I love that it's served on a hot plate that sizzles the meat a bit when you get it. I really enjoyed everything on the plate. My wife order their salmon with dill sauce. She enjoyed the flavors but felt the salmon was overcooked. Ive been going to the chain of Cattleman's restaurants for the better part of 30 years. I have been to the one in Dixon (though it has been some time), and the location that used to be in Fremont. I was not disappointed by my experience at the Rohnert Park location. Me and my parent's petite filet mignon steaks were cooked perfectly. Between the salad, bbq beans, and delicious sourdough, we were all stuffed and didn't need a bigger steak. That said, the large ribeye steaks looked amazing. Also, really fair price for a delicious filet mignon--if this place was in the Bay Area, it would have cost almost twice as much. My dirty martini was strong and well made. Removing a star because the booths are very cramped and fairly uncomfortable. Service was fine, though the bar was really slow. Growing up in Sacramento in the 80's this was a popular spot that people went to. My family didn't really ever go out to eat so I don't have a memory of actually visiting cattlemen's but I heard great things about it. We saw that this location was near our hotel so decided to check it out. We sat at the bar the bar take over about half the restaurant with separate dining room seating. Bartenders were busy but super friendly and attentive. We ordered a few appetizers and cocktails. Food was good...nothing to get super excited about but it was good. The vibe was fabulous! Felt like a local's bar/restaurant but it's a chain! I definitely loved how everyone seemed to know each other. If you want a good steak this is the place! I ordered the steak and lobster plate. The Stake was very flavorful and cooked just the way I wanted. My boyfriend also ordered the NY steak & enjoyed it. However, The lobster was not fresh, rubbery, and lacked flavor. I only ate it because it was 45$. I also had the bacon wrapped shrimp & was also disappointed in the lack of flavor considering anything with bacon usually has lots of flavor. SEP2024 Saw a deal for Monday night football and we were able to find a table with views for the game. Service was very attentive and friendly, helpful with any questions. Water refills frequent. I had ordered beef ribs since there was a nice deal for those. My partner had ordered the steak and crab meal. We had gotten the brussel sprouts and butternut squash to try things out. I got the vegetable medley, the mushrooms, and beans on the sides to check those as well. The ribs were dry and over done, and the numbers kept getting mixed up. The steak was well done rather than medium, and the crab overcooked and chewy. The brussel sprouts were decent but also too long in the oil. The mushrooms were decent just needed something other than the butter. The vegetable medley undercooked, and lacking seasoning. The beans were what you'd expect. It just missed a lot of marks. This steakhouse is the perfect way to bring life into such a small town! We made a reservation, so our wait time wasn't too long. We sat down at a long table, and had been served by 2 different waiters and 2 other additional staff. The restaurant is clean, super western, but smaller than the other locations I have been to! I love the prices as some of the items weren't too expensive, the food tasted good, and I especially loved the endless salad and bread! My steak was a bit on the chewy side, less than medium rare, which I asked for medium rare, but it was seasoned perfectly! Oh how I wish I could leave a better review, but Cattleman's has really gone downhill over the years. Our food was subpar and just not what we were used to. The prime rib was chewy, and the NY strip was just not flavorable. Even the baked potato was undercooked and tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave. After paying for my order, I asked if there were any take-out menus. She offered me a regular menu and went to fetch it. A busy waitress noticed that I was standing at the counter and asked if I had been helped. I was impressed with the attentiveness of the staff and the generous offer to give me a full menu. My only disappointment was that there was no colorful sticker on the steak wrapping, as shown on the website. We have been to cattleman's before for the happy hour menu. It was amazing. We came back today to celebrate my birthday and we're lucky enough to get a table in the bar area. The waitress informed me that since i wasn't seated at a high top table or actually at the bar i couldn't order the happy hour menu but had to order from the regular menu. Cattlemens isn't what it used to be, it's still good but not like "get excited about going to cattlemens" good. The legendary margarita is terrible and so is their Paloma. Stick to beer and simple well/call drinks. Nice and cold. The ribeye i got, looked and tasted like a NY, isn't as marbled and tasty as my preferred ribeye. And the 6oz filet is laughable. The mashed potatoes aren't creamy like they used to be and the artichoke dip is very sour tasting and so oily, not creamy and delicious. I sent it back. So food is just ok. The service was great though, even as busy as they were and it looks very nice and welcoming just got to get the food back to how it was, this was not a happy anniversary dinner. We've been coming here for a while. We get the dinner special for 2, and for dessert we get the carrot cake Everything is usually great, service, food and the price is good- but tonight our server said- I have to charge you a dollar extra for the carrot cake- we've never been told that before but no biggie because it's delicious. He rings us up and comes back and says it's actually $2 or $3 dollars more, do you still want it? I say yes. We get the bill and he's charged us $10.99, not the $2 or $3 - I ask for water because it's sweet, he comes back with water and as I'm saying thanks, he kinda throws the water down and walks away without saying anything. Just went with my family over the weekend. We've been going to Cattlemens for at least 50 years. There have been a few years where portion sizes and quality weren't up to standard. But This last time was by far the BEST meal I've had there. Prime rib was perfect and more than I could eat. My dad had a steak that came on an oval plate that the steak was so big there was almost no room for the baked potato. Definitely plan to go back soon.
