AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. ---- Road Runner Sports started as a promising experience but turned into one of the most frustrating customer service situations I've had. I came in to buy running shoes, and the initial process seemed great. The associate scanned my feet (which was actually pretty cool), had me try insoles, and brought out three shoe options that fit my profile. However, communication was difficult, he was mostly mumbling, and I had to repeatedly ask him to clarify what he was saying. When I decided on a pair of ASICS, he immediately tried to upsell the insoles (around $120), even though I had only tried the shoes with those insoles, not with the original ones. That felt a bit misleading. At checkout, he also pushed the VIP membership, saying it would give me 90 days to try the shoes and return them if needed, making it sound like that flexibility depended on being a member. We declined. When I got home and tried to run in the shoes, I couldn't even last 90 seconds, they just didn't work for me. We called the store (using the number listed online) and were told that as long as the shoes looked brand new, we could return them. That gave us confidence to go back. Unfortunately, the in-store experience during the return was completely different. The associate told us: * The shoes did not qualify as "brand new" * We could not get a refund to the original payment method unless we were members * The only option was a gift card Then, again, we were offered the membership as a solution. The inconsistency between what we were told on the phone and what happened in-store, combined with the repeated upselling, made this a very frustrating experience. What started as a helpful, professional fitting ended with unclear policies and poor communication.

I asked if they carried the 1080s in a size 7.5 in black. She asked if I wanted the regular width or wide version. I didn't know there were options, but having wider feet, I asked for the wide one. She left and returned with two pair of shoes in different widths. One regular and one extra wide. The extra wide one fit like a glove. She gave me time to try them on and walk around. She then came back to check up on me. The selection here is very good. I had scouted the 1080s in a specific color and size online and this store had them. In terms of value, I would also say I got a good deal on these shoes. Six months ago, on the website, these shoes were selling for $165. I got mine here for $100. Some final thoughts: The man at checkout was very nice. He did want us to provide an email for the receipt. Apparently if you lose your physical receipt, you can still return your shoes with the emailed receipt. I had no intention of returning the shoes so passed on providing the email, but this may be something for you to consider if you're not entirely sure those shoes you're buying are keepers. I sat down inside the store and called customer service and connected with the nicest, most helpful customer service person ever who immediately did her best to understand the issue with the shoes and let me know she would do everything she could to help me. Since the product failed, we were well within the time limit to return the shoes for a full refund. The return window is much longer online or on the phone. She also made me aware that the original product we purchased was now on sale so she helped me return the defective product and then helped me purchase a replacement at the new sale price.
