What I appreciate most is no hassle or pressure for buying into the membership. Hence the 5 stars. Raymond was very polite & made me feel comfortable by offering to try other makes/brands to see what will the best shoe fit. I ended up buying two pairs. Update: After I left this review (that I also left on Google), Road Runner Sports asked me to email them. I did, and I was later told that the Torrance manager and team had "touched base" with me, which is inaccurate. The only interaction I had with the store after my purchase was when I returned the same day to try to return the shoes. No one from the store ever contacted me afterward to follow up or try to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, no resolution was offered. Still the worse experience I've ever had. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. ---- Road Runner Sports started as a promising experience but turned into one of the most frustrating customer service situations I've had. I came in to buy running shoes, and the initial process seemed great. The associate scanned my feet (which was actually pretty cool), had me try insoles, and brought out three shoe options that fit my profile. However, communication was difficult, he was mostly mumbling, and I had to repeatedly ask him to clarify what he was saying. When I decided on a pair of ASICS, he immediately tried to upsell the insoles (around $120), even though I had only tried the shoes with those insoles, not with the original ones. That felt a bit misleading. At checkout, he also pushed the VIP membership, saying it would give me 90 days to try the shoes and return them if needed, making it sound like that flexibility depended on being a member. We declined. When I got home and tried to run in the shoes, I couldn't even last 90 seconds, they just didn't work for me. We called the store (using the number listed online) and were told that as long as the shoes looked brand new, we could return them. That gave us confidence to go back. Unfortunately, the in-store experience during the return was completely different. The associate told us: * The shoes did not qualify as "brand new" * We could not get a refund to the original payment method unless we were members * The only option was a gift card Then, again, we were offered the membership as a solution. The inconsistency between what we were told on the phone and what happened in-store, combined with the repeated upselling, made this a very frustrating experience. When I first got into running I drove here and I was met with such welcoming energy right away I was acknowledged and let me know theirs a waiting list they go by and added me to the list, I waited patiently and got help from a gentleman that ask me what my goals were, what distances I had accomplished already and had me try on different brands until we found the right shoe, than convinced to invest in an inner sole which I thought was unnecessary at first but to be honest I'm glad I listened to him !!!! (I wish I remembered his name, I thought all my experiences would be like this) ... fast forward 2-3 years later my mom wanted to buy me running shoes for my bday so I thought ROAD RUNNER !!!She will love this experience ! ... we walk in, busy as the time before except this time everyone looks at us and ignores us...I still don't think much of it so we head over to the shoes at this point I'm aware of the list so I'm waving people down politely and 2 people literally rush past me while saying "someone will help you I'm helping someone else" ... so I figured they would communicate with each other that we needed to be added to the list...at this point everyone is aware we're around (giving me look, and even smirking my way)... after a while I went up to one specific guy who kept giving me dirty looks and told him bro I need help and in an angry tone he tells me there's a list and I told him I know it's not my first time here l, he adds me to the list (this is 15-20 mins in) ... same guy comes up to us with a non welcoming attitude and I ask him to show me which "wide" options they have and he tells me without even giving me options "if you what wide online and order them from online" so I ask "you don't have any in stock" and he replies "some look around it will say it, do you need anything else ?" At that point I got the hint and just left....what broke my heart is that it was so obvious that my mom asked me "why did they treat you like that ? Maybe next time you should wear your hat..." BROOOOOO!!!! I have no clue what happened to this shop but it was the most embarrassing experience I had in front of my mother and for them to make her feel like I need to cover up my tattoos to be treated equally was sad... We went intentionally to RRS on advice of our podiatrist for our 7 year old child who was experiencing problems with his feet. Without exposing his "HIPAA" protection, we need an expert to fit his feet for he could temporarily fix an arch problem. Carlos was our fit expert and he was professional, patient and effective. Our child wasn't able to wear regular shoes for over 2 weeks and prior to his appointment with the podiatrist, we took him to 6 stores, order 2 pairs of shoes "1 day air" just having to return them the very next day. It was getting costly. Carlos fit him in the 2 recommended brands. He was able to tell us which ones he could tolerate with out him saying, "its too tight, it hurts". We ordered a color not available in the store and we are anxiously awaiting their arrival. Hopefully they will come by the time we were told 3-5 business days. We even joined the VIP Family plan in case we needed to have them adjusted within the first 90 days. I called today, 10/9 and spoke to Erin, another professional, pleasant woman who gave me the tracking number of my order and now I can check myself. I've bought shoes at roadrunner for years and have always purchased custom inserts as well. When they brought in the new arch support, custom form machine I was not pleased with the result. The fit wasn't as precise, and the inserts are a lesser quality than the ones I have purchased in the past.. read more

Unfortunately I did not have the same experience I previously had. This has to do all with the service know one really knew who was helping who it seemed like the store was also not busy. We went in for some shoes for my wife after she got the sizes to try no one ever came back up to us we where left standing there I had to go up to another employee who was helping someone else and ask for help. He got his mic and ask every other employee who was helping us a no one answered. Then when someone finally asked us if they could help I said yes and asked for the colors of the shoes he said they only had one and didn't offer to look at other colors online or order them. Customer service is horrible, salesman will not reach out with questions, most are men, they only recently hired women. Not knowledgeable in shoes like they should be. Warning: stay away from Road Runner Sports. Honestly, this place is a whole scam and I wish someone had told me before I wasted my time and money there. So I went in looking for a new pair of running shoes, and at first everything seemed legit. They did this foot scan thing which was kinda cool, and the associate brought out a few options including some New Balances that felt solid. But the whole time, this guy was mumbling so bad I could barely understand a word he was saying. I kept asking him to speak up and he just wouldn't. It was giving zero customer service energy. Here's where it gets real shady. The worst part of this whole experience was the insoles. He had me try the shoes on with these premium insoles and never once mentioned how much they cost. He never asked if I wanted them. He just acted like they were already part of the purchase, like it was a done deal. Then at the register, surprise, they're $120. On top of that, he started throwing in recommendations for t shirts, socks, and other clothing like we came in trying to redo our whole wardrobe. We came in for shoes, bro. The upselling was nonstop and honestly felt so pushy. Then he starts going on about this VIP membership. The way he framed it, he made it sound like I could still return the shoes without the membership, I just wouldn't get the full 90 days. He never once mentioned that without it there would be no refund at all. Not a word about that. We said no thanks and moved on. Got home, laced up, went for a jog, and within like two minutes my feet were done. The shoes were not it. Called the store the next day and the person on the phone said no problem, just bring them back looking new and you'll get a full refund. Bet, we thought. Went back to the store and it was a completely different story. Now suddenly the shoes had too much wear, they couldn't refund our card without a membership, and the best they could do was store credit. And then, no cap, they tried to sell us the membership AGAIN saying it would fix everything. So basically the associate left out the most important detail about refunds, buried the insole price hoping we wouldn't question it, and the phone rep and in store staff told us two completely different things. The whole operation feels like a bait and switch designed to either lock you into a membership or trap your money in gift cards. Big ick and I will not be going back. To say I was utterly disappointed with the customer service would be an understatement. There must have been about 5-6 staff members. And about 3-4 customers. My partner got to the store be fore I did. He went over what shoes he was currently wearing and let them know he was looking for a new pair. The gentleman that helped him went over a few options and got him two pairs to try. After he got his shoes no one checked in on him to see how the fit was or to ask if he wanted to try anything else. When I arrived he was in the process of trying on shoes, I also wanted a pair for myself and asked a staff member for my size. At the moment he was attending to another customer and asked me to give him a few minutes. Understandable, we were in no rush and wanted them to help the other customer first. Once he tended to the other customer he began chatting with another staff member, did not even bother to check in with me again. After a few minutes of him chatting it up with the other staff member I checked in with a different staff. They quickly got the shoes for me, but again no one bothered to check in on us after I received the shoes. My husband wanted to get insoles as well as try a few other pairs, and we were going to purchase two pairs, but the staff just seemed uninterested in helping. We have been to this store other times with less staff and received better service, but today they had more staff and the service was just not there. My partner and I even joked that they must not make commission on sales because there was zero sense of urgency to make a sale. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! I had a really disappointing experience at this shoe store because of an employee named Eduardo. He was rude and dismissive from the start. When I asked to have my feet measured to find the right fit, he told me I "didn't have enough time" even though there were still about 20 minutes before closing. Then he went on to help another customer instead. To make things worse, Eduardo gave my boyfriend the wrong pair of shoes and refused to admit his mistake. He tried to claim the "wide" sticker must have fallen off, but the shoes didn't say "wide" anywhere on them. Meanwhile, I noticed another employee helping their customer with patience, kindness, and professionalism something Eduardo completely lacked. Overall, it was an unpleasant and frustrating experience. Eduardo clearly didn't care to provide good service, and I won't be returning to this location. read more

Today we had the best experience at road runners in torrance. Shay helped us so much and was very knowledgeable with what we needed. My daughter is running the LA marathon and we wanted shoes to get her through it. She never made us feel rushed and gave my daughter plenty of time to try shoes on and walk and run around the store to make sure she was confident in her decision. We told her what we were looking for and brought out 2 shoes that were perfect. I recommend this store and especially recommend Shay. read more

This is the only place I come for shoes and for my inserts. Every time I walk in the staff always greets me with a smile and they're very attentive Parking is free and easy in the plaza outback. There are tons of shoes to choose from, but I always stick with a new balance because I have foot issues. That brings me to my favorite part about this place, which is the fact that they, do a full foot/walking analysis for you. I love getting the inserts that fit in all of my shoes. They warm up the inserts and mold them to your feet is such a wonderful option! I refer all of my friends to this place and I am definitely a VIP member! I had to return a pair of shoes and order a new pair and decided to come to the store and try on some shoes in person. Matt was the person who helped. I received excellent service from Gerson. I came to exchange Hoka's I had recently purchased which surprisingly hurt the bottom of my feet. Gerson encouraged me to complete Road Runner's shoe finder in which I discovered I am a half a size larger and tend to supinate with each stride. Just left this store and I can't say how gracious I was after my experience with their clerk Salvador. He was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the fit finder process. Even though the store was very full (he said for a Monday, this was particularly busy), he didn't rush me and my friend when it came to speaking to us about the best fit. Amazing store, wanted to start running again and as soon as I walked in there I was greeted by Chance. He was super nice and overall well rounded. We did the full analysis on my feet and he went over the results with me and explained what everything meant . We went over the shoe options and his personal recommendations. I snagged a pair of personalized insoles , asics that are made for my feet type, and socks, total was roughly $400. Now I know that's a steep price but with the experience you get, the personalization all around, and the tailored personal one on one experience with a rep made it worth it. If you remove the shoes and insoles it's way cheaper, also you don't need to purchase shoes there, they email you your results on your foot if you're not ready to pick a shoes quite yet. Also my run was amazing it felt like I was running on air. Ask for Chance if he's available, he's a tall man you can't miss him lol. read more

Be very careful when you sign up for the Rewards program. I thought it was a great deal and was going to forever buy my shoes here. But I was told it was $20/year, but apparently it is $50. I was straight out lied to. Then without my consent, I was upgraded, and just got charged for $99. I had to cancel the entire membership to get a refund. I am extremely disappointed in the entire thing. I will be letting friends and family know not to shop there. read more

Total scam company and store. I bought a water bottle for a gift and the sales person convinced me to sign up for the membership for a discount. They told me can cancel it before they changed me for the yearly membership. I totally forgot about it and was charged like $50. My fault, so I called to cancel it without a refund. A year later, i get changed again.... I called in their support and they see that I canceled it prior, but it didn't fully cancel in the store so the store charged me again. What's the point of canceling it if they will deceptively charge you anyway. Total scam company. Do not get their membership, they will find ways to change your card even after you already canceled it. If you search on Google, you'll see the countless stories of them doing this to other people.
