The scoop sizes continue to diminish while prices increase, $6.50 for a single flavor scoop, you gotta be kidding-yes, it's comparable to a Van Leeuwen but one, your flavor diversity is lacking (can count your old hits on the fingers of one hand and the far and few new launches are avoidable) and two, local/neighborhood artisan ice cream shops are delivering better quality in the same or lesser price range. And soft serve for the same price as a scoop, seriously! Coming back to the flavors, the rum and raisin was a shame, it is a classic favor, but whoever gave you the idea of dunking a packet of raisins in rum and then throwing the entire thing into the ice cream clearly never tasted the classic flavor before. Then there was this summer's orange creamsicle, less like a creamsicle more like a cough syrup. Whatever happened to your honey lavender days. Service, is anyone doing a sanity check at the Ballston location? Most of the times they are out of the serving dish/container for the flight. The staff is disengaged and at times bordering between clueless, rude, indifferent. The final thaw for our family was our six year old requesting for an empty cup (like kids often do) to cover her ice cream cone so the ice didn't drop. She was told "you will be charged for the cup, our management told us." Then the little girl noticed her cone was fully cracked within seconds of being handed the ice cream, "my cone broke". Back when I lived in Northern Virginia, this was always my go-to dessert spot since it was only a short walk away from where I lived to in Ballston Quarter. Casual place located on the ground floor of the building. Lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor amongst all the restaurants there. Usually only 1 or 2 people working the counter during then so service could be a smidge slow when it was busy, but it's worth the wait! My go-to staple flavors was always MarionBerry with graham cracker which is like a sweet/fruity flavor that I really enjoy. But during Lunar New Year they always release a set of Asian inspired flavors that are always pretty unique. In particular, I really love the roasted barley tea and red bean almond cookie which seem to be a staple in those releases. Definitely super unique flavors that remind me of my childhood, that's for sure haha. The owner, Victoria is also a super nice person and have had the pleasure of meeting her a couple times for different Ice Cream Jubilee events. Gotta love and support your local small businesses. Especially an AAPI, women-owned spot! Also a note on cost, pricing is definitely on the higher end of ice cream, but that's just what you got to expect for the quality and uniqueness of ingredients. Delicious ice creams! I tried two of their limited edition flavors - sticky mango rice and red bean almond cookie. I loved the tropical and juicy mango with the slightly sweet rice flavor. There are options of waffle cones, getting the scoops in a cup and a variety of sizes. I was debating on whether I should get a sorbet or ice cream and went with the latter. I ordered one scoop of the blueberry pie which is just the right amount of sweetness after my large meal at Jinya. This scoop was a little more sweetness than I like, but still tasty. It had chunks of pie crust mixed in which provided a good contrast of crunchiness coupled with the creaminess of the ice cream. I sampled 4 flavors - Thai iced tea , mint chocolate chip, honey lemon lavender, cookies and cookie dough. But decided to go with the Thai iced tea in a cup. It tasted just like the real Thai tea and was very refreshing. I was not particularly impressed with the mint chocolate or honey lemon lavender. The mint didn't taste too much different from what you could buy at a grocery store. The honey lemon lavender tasted too artificial. The cookies and cookie dough was good but I decided to go with the Thai iced tea since it is a little more exotic. The ice cream is very thick and creamy and not too sweet. Good for adult taste buds. For one small scoop, they actually give you a lot. For no extra charge you can get it in a sugar cone. They also do sundaes and a few pastries. See pics for menu and current pricing. They have seasonal flavors and certain flavors all year round. Since they have other locations in DC, you may want to call the store to see if they have the flavor you are interested in. When I went, the selection is a lot less than what they have on their website. The reason for the 4 stars is because the employees were not particularly friendly. When I asked for samples they gave me look. I would expect that they would be a little more courteous in the response especially since the ice cream isn't particularly cheap. They also just assumed that I wanted a cup without asking if I wanted it in a cone. But it was also very close to closing time so I can kind of understand. Normally you would have to pay for parking but I guess because I came in the evening around 8pm weekday, there was no fee to park (at the metered parking). It is a small counter-style layout within the Quarter Market food court. So there is plenty of seating to enjoy your ice cream. There is also a very nice outdoor area. The Quarter Market is accessible directly from the outside without going through the mall so if you came on foot or Metro, it is easy to get to. Overall, I think this is a nice ice cream spot to go to if you are in Arlington. But I don't think I would personally make a trip out here just for the ice cream. read more

I went to Ice Cream Jubilee last weekend and it was so surprisingly good !! I could always smell the fresh waffle cones and the sweet smell of the ice cream whenever I went to the mall, so I decided to try it. They had so many creative flavors, including a special list of ice creams just for the spring time. The man working was really kind and let us sample some of the flavors before picking an ice cream bowl that we wanted. I was really impressed by the seasonal ones, like the smoked vanilla cherry Sakura flavor. I ended up getting the Marion Berry which was Marion berry jam and Graham crackers and the banana caramel bourbon ice cream. We got a fresh waffle cone too. It took a little while because of the fresh waffle cone, but it was warm when it came back and it melted the ice cream. Yum! 10/10. I can't wait to come back! read more

The classic flavors - Cookies and Cookie Dough and the Banana Bourbon Caramel were okay. The Mexican Hot Chocolate and the Pumpkin Honeycomb are bursting with flavor. The Mexican Hot Chocolate is dark chocolate ice cream with a subtle spicy kick. I'm not a big fan of spicy food and glad there wasn't much heat, the notes of cinnamon and spices really elevated the flavor. The Pumpkin Honeycomb tastes like pumpkin spice with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, and pairs really well with the plain waffle cone. A whiff of the chocolate waffle batter resembling gooey brownies will tantalize your tastebuds and have you begging for a waffle cone/bowl! While the chocolate waffle cone/bowl has an amazing aroma, it's a bit bland and actually prefer the plain waffle cone/bowl. Note the cones are not leak proof. I walked a couple of blocks and the ice cream started leaking out! Unless you're planning on sitting down with the cone, go for the waffle bowl! There's no mess and much easier to break off the crispy waffle and dip into the ice cream! Some of the ice cream tastes a bit frozen over or not quite thawed, it also melts pretty fast within a couple of minutes. Also Ice Cream Jubilee stopped taking the loyalty cards (I would have scored some free cones over the years!). The friendly and speedy service is fantastic and truly the cherry on top! There are a variety of flavors that span from your classics to unique flavors that you've probably never heard before. I ended up wanting to try one of their more distinct flavors and got a single scoop of marion berry. Upon seeing the scoop, I honestly thought I was gonna be in for a rough time because it looked super sweet. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor and it ended up being really good! The base is vanilla with a blend of marion berry jam and crushed graham crackers. Never heard of a marion berry before but whatever it is, it's delicious LOL. I thought the addition of graham crackers would make this ice cream crunchy but it's actually powdered down so it added an interesting texture to the ice cream without adding a crunch. This location is within Ballston Quarter. It's right in the middle of the food hall so you can't miss it! There's a lot of seating around the food hall so you can enjoy the ice cream inside or enjoy it in the outdoor patio. Price wise, it's $6 for a single scoop. I would usually not pay that much for ice cream but considering the unique flavors and quality of the dessert, I'd say it's reasonable. FYI, if you get a double scoop and split it, it'll be $8 and you can save some money! Probably will do that next time I'm in the area to try out some of their other flavors! read more

The staff there is very friendly and helpful. Some issues I noted however, is that you can not see or sample the ice cream. They have some exotic flavors of ice cream available. Keep in mind that even though some of the flavors have alcohol names, they do not actually have alcohol in them. I got a cup of Buttered Toast & Marmalade and another cup of Banana Bourbon Caramel in a waffle bowl. I liked the Butter Toast flavor the best. But I am also a fan of the waffle bowl. It is made fresh, come out warm and is soft. It was really good and should come every scoop of ice cream that they sell. The place is very clean and there is ample indoor seating in the food court that the shop is in. This is a super local ice cream spot. As I mentioned, the have a great selection of exotic flavors and they can scoops in a bowl, or on a waffle cone, in a waffle bowl or in a shake. Who doesn't love eating ice cream when it's 28 degrees outside, windy, and feels like it's 16 degrees?! Us, that's who! With the nixed events due to the pandemic, I still wanted my baby to get a taste of Lunar New Year in some (safe and socially distanced) form. We visited ICJ-Ballston to check out their Lunar New Year flight tasting and it did not disappoint. Each bite made me want more. Of course, ICJ Did give a generous scoop of each of their 6 flavors. My daughter polished off an entire scoop and left me 5 to try and finish myself; while I love ice cream, def could not deliver on finishing off 5 scoops after having a big lunch with her. We also got to take home a pint of the coconut lychee lime sorbet, which was her favorite. The gentleman there was super friendly, patient and kind and made our quick visit there so great. For those who haven't been here before, we have tried soo many of their flavors (I want to say at least 2 dozen in the past year or more) and I have to say, I (and my family's haven't been let down so far. They have some unique flavors here but my personal favorite is definitely the Thai iced tea. The mango habanero i thought was just okay... the habanero was a bit too spicy / odd for me. From living in Seattle for Molly Moons to my weekly visits to Portland's Salt and Straw, Sooo, one of my friends who also lived in Portland suggested that I try Jubilee. I gotta say, the ice cream itself is great. The marionberry and graham crackers reminds me of Oregon as well as the lavender lemon. Decent servings. I also had a taste of their guava passion fruit sorbet which I really really really wanted to love. The flavor was definitely there but the texture was more gooey than a sorbet for me. It felt like too much xanthum gum was added perhaps. The unfortunate reasons why I knocked off my two stars were because of the customer service. One evening, my friend and I went and placed our orders 20 min before closing. I went to go grab our orders and no one was to be found. I stood there for ten minutes before this guy with the beard and flannel came out. He claimed our orders weren't even seen on the screen. As I walked away, he shouted REALLY LOUD that he then saw it... and that he only one waffle cone left. (We also paid for two waffle cones). Instead of putting the ice cream in the waffle cone, he just put it in a bag and awkwardly gave the order to me. I also ordered another waffle cone during a next visit. Customer service was better and the girls were great.
