This is one of my go-to places for my ice cream craving. Their gelato is heaaaaaveeeennnn. My absolute favorite flavors are their seasonal pumpkin gelato and their pistachio flavor. The pistachio flavor has chunks of real pistachios in them which pleases my soul so much. Their ingredients are so fresh, plus you can get multiple flavors. The business owner is awesome for keeping this business open. The owner of Icekrimski also owns the Varsity Theater and Mishka's Cafe. Soooo they clearly know what they're doing. This is a very tiny shop so don't expect to eat your gelato inside. However, there are tables outside so you can grab your favorite flavors and chat with friends. If you're ever catching a movie at the Varsity Theater (which I highly recommend because of their super comfy, red velvet chairs) then you can order your gelato from inside the theater. Their prices aren't so amazing but you get a lot of gelato and trust me it's filling. I don't come here often, only when I treat myself and need a good ice cream fix. Overall, I keep coming back for their tasty gelato. They do have candy you can buy, but honestly I've never seen anyone purchase their candy here lol. Good selection of not only gelato, but also nostalgic candies are sold here at Icekrimski. Obviously many other folks here on Yelp have discussed the flavors and quality of the gelato, but the standout part of Icekrimski is none other than the delicate fan wafers they include with each cup of gelato. Since there so many frozen treats places to choose from around Davis (shaved ice, ice cream sandos, ice cream in general, froyo, etc) the one thing that I cannot find a substitute for is the French fan wafers (likely from Michel de France?). These darlings are incredibly light and include something like...8?! layers of paper thin wafer folds. For a dessert lover like myself, I have to applaud whatever process it takes to create these impossibly delicate wafers that are such a wonder to eat... But, even though I love these wafers so, I balked at the chance to buy an imported box of them ($40+!!! good lord...even I can't justify spending that much) when I happened to come across them at an obscure Viet store in San Jose. So obviously the next best thing was to ask if I could buy *just* the wafers from Icekrimski- and the girl said yes! Score!!! A small is about $3.15 and it is CASH ONLY. You can only get two flavors regardless of the size you order. I dunno...I have a problem with that. Usually places will try their best to accommodate at least one extra flavor if you get a large. Anyway, that's just me. Not the largest shop, you'll walk right by it if you blink. However daughter prefers gelato to ice cream, so we had to do a special Yelp search to find this place. She got the lavender honey and another flavor, I want to say coppa mista? This place gets their gelato from the same company as the one I like in Fremont!! My recommendations? Green tea and stracciatella, of course! We walked in the hole in the wall ice cream shop and was met with nobody for the first few minutes until this man in his 20-30's with golden hair came out. I'm a pretty indecisive person, so I started trying out all of the flavors. BUT after asking to try two more flavors, the man was like, "uh, you can only try THREE flavors." in a really snobby tone and he kind of gave me a smug smirk.. Uh, okay? Three, really? And you honestly didn't have to be rude about it. We decided to share a cup because my boyfriend isn't much of a sweets person and got the blackberry cabernet and peanut butter cup. I thought this would be okay even though the flavors didn't mesh because I didn't expect him to PUSH the gelato down and purposely mix it together like that. He basically took both the scoops and used a spoon to flatten the whole thing to the LINE of the cup.. We went outside and sat on one of the tables. Talk about soft-served.. it was so soft, it was like melting. It seemed like the gelato was just out in the sun for a few hours.. It was mixing so much, I had to force myself to eat my peanut butter cup gelato so it didn't blend with my boyfriend's. By the way, the peanut butter cup was whatever. It was watery and didn't taste too peanut buttery, in the honest opinion of a peanut butter fanatic. I've had way way WAY stronger tasting at Yogurtland. Seriously, if I'm going to pay so much money here ($4ish), then I should expect quality service and ice cream! At least ice cream! It's the only gelato place in Davis and it can easily be forgot seeing that it's connected to the Varsity Theater which is mostly for indie films anyways. We just went just to say we tried it, having already been in Davis for like 5 years now. It's pretty basic, nothing special, tastes like all other gelato places. They have all your basic gelato flavors such as cookies n cream, strattachella, raspberry, mango sorbet, nutella, etc. The reason I will probably not come back here is that it's just expensive. Oh Davis, you make me so happy. Finally found a great gelato place downtown. Place is right next to the Varsity theater so I you're gonna check out a movie, why not buy some gelato as well. They have about 15 flavors, and each on looks delicious. Chocolate, vanilla, rasberry, and tangerine are just a few. My favorite is the caramello chocolate crunch. Man, now I'm craving for some. Place is small, so I recommend buy your gelato and eat outside. But there was one incident where some friends and I were sitting outside, and a couple inside the store were staring at us. This hole-in-the-wall ice cream store might be a bit hard to find if you're driving by, but just walk over to the left side of the Varsity theater and you'll be sure to find it. Out of all the flavors I've had here, my favorite would have to be the dark chocolate. So rich and creamy and decadent.. I could probably eat a whole pint by myself. Although, the blackberry cabernet and raspberry sorbet are also both delicious if you're looking for something on the lighter side. I think that Icekrimski might be one of the best under the radar places to get a treat in Davis. It's tucked away, and you can miss it if you're not looking closely since it's sort of tucked away next to the Varsity theater but, once you notice it and go in, you won't be disappointed. The location itself is lovely and right in the heart of our small downtown Davis. The interior is also so cute. Best gelato in Davis! I love going here during the summer and enjoy eating my gelato outdoors as I walk around downtown. My favorite flavors by far are chocolate hazelnut (which basically tastes like Nutella but still so delicious) and strawberry creme. I usually get child size because gelato is really heavy. I found this shop when I revisited my college town and I am so glad I have this place a try. The shop offer many flavors ranging from your classic flavors [vanilla, cookies n cream, green tea, chocolate ...] to more adventurous flavors like fresh ginger, honey lavender, coppa mista... in addition to their seasonal flavors. The Cafe itself is located next to the Varsity Theatre, and even has a window into the theatre where patrons can order. The decor is soft on the eyes and I especially like the industrial feel of their logo. Awesome design leads to an awesome experience, which I think is oftentimes overlooked by many restaurants. One of the few draw-backs is that it's cash only, so be prepared with those Washingtons and Lincolns. Also, there's limited indoor seating, although there is a nice window-side outdoor bench that customers can enjoy. Overall, a nice place to visit if you're tired of all the yogurt places Davis seems to be springing up. A child scoop is $3 and it enough to fill your gelato cravings. I sampled a couple, but I ended up ordering the Coconut Macadamia Nut Gelato. The coconut flavour was really robust, and there were chopped macadamia nuts. The scoop came with an Italian cookie. it complements the cool gelato really well. Being one of the few places in Davis that serves gelato already gave this place 3/5 stars on its own. Being the only place in Davis that serves more than 4 flavors gives them the full 5. This is a very small and quant shop attached to Varsity theatre that also sell candy. The candy can be hard sometime since it doesn't seem to sell very fast so definitely go for their gelato. The have various flavors and my favorite is their chocolate chip. It is actually really funny because I kept thinking it was something else since its name is Stracialleta and felt super fancy and then I come to find out its normal chocolate chip gelato. Their Gelato are amazingly delicious. My all-time favorite is the Stracciatella. It's so good! Sweet, smooth, and crunchy. Just heaven in a mouthful. A fan waffer is also added to your gelato cup, which makes it a little bit more special. They also just started selling Affogatos, try one of them! + Service Usually welcomed by a friendly staff. I don't know how I have lived in Davis for almost four years and never tried this gem! This tiny gelato store has some fantastic flavors. It's probably also the only place in davis to serve real gelato. It's connected to the varsity theater so don't be surprised if you call to ask how long they are open and someone at the theater responds. We tried a bunch of flavors- ginger (very gingery, very tasty), pistachio (pretty good), coppa mista (yum!), and tiramisu (my favorite). I have always been a tiramisu fan but I'm happy to report that I'm now a bigger fan of tiramisu gelato! You can get gelato in a waffle cone or bowl. For the bowls, they have a couple different sizes starting from the kids cup at 3.95 going up to a large for 6.95 if I remember correctly. We got the regular for 4.95 and they let us do two flavors. We sat outside Mishkas and had our gelato as the neon flashing theater lights right outside the gelato cafe were a bit trippy. read more
