Super cute store in the Davis area. They've got plenty of snacks and are reasonably priced for their wide variety of options that you don't typically see in your larger grocery stores (including Asian ones)

Classy shopping bag for the Rose Moon Cake we purchased.

On our calendar, today marks a full moon. On the lunar calendar, did you know the Moon Festival is right around the corner? Thank heavens Ho Ho Market is near, and well stocked. And yes, we found Moon Cakes here!!! For those of you that unfamiliar, the mid autumn festival is celebrated in the middle of September to early October. This observance is an opportunity to give thanks for the harvest (plus peace and prosperity). We were super lucky that someone more familiar (could read Chinese and translate) was in this aisle the same time we were trying to decide which flavor of moon cake to get. So many varieties to choose from...standard red bean, mixed nuts, or lotus. This nice young man pointed out a new flavor, rose...so we tried that. Pleased to see the variety of items being sold here. We will return, as this market is super convenient with all kinds of great finds. Prices are reasonable too!

    Nice small Asian goods market!

Stopped in here as the fam wanted some snacks. They got 3 for $6 mochi packs of various mochi selections. This store has a bunch of Asian goodies. A nice store to peruse. Prices are reasonable. Service is adequate.

Oh my god. If you're looking for some obscure, hard to find Asian products in Davis, this is definitely the place. It's pretty small and in a corner where you might not see it, but it's chock full of goodies that I don't usually find even in an SF super or 99 ranch. Different flavored chips, candy, and noodles, along with snacks I haven't seen since childhood. Decent prices too, such a gem of a place!

There are no Ho Ho's here=bitter disappointment. But there was a lot of other great stuff from Japan like a wide variety of mochi, White Rabbit candies, many flavors of rice snacks both sweet and savory, Royal Milk Tea, Pockey (why am I a grown-ass man that still likes these things?) and a cooler of interesting drinks by the front door. Stop on in!

Wafer rolls with chocolate filling make a yummy snack :)

This shop is very adorable and feels like a hidden treasure. It's a little hard to find at first, but it's hidden in a corner on the first level. It has a nice selection of snacks, candy, and ramen. I'm sure there were other items but I ignored them in favor of the goodies hehe. I definitely recommend to the owner to include a cheap ready-to-eat lunches section. I don't frequent Asian stores that much, but the prices seem to be on the cheap/reasonably priced end. I will definitely be coming here more often to restock my snack drawer. I docked a star BC I noticed I was charged more for an item than was stated in the aisle. (I believe it was the matcha pocky) It's a pet peeve of mine when items and their prices do not match. Other than that, I had a good experience and will be back.

Ignore the Thai food. Look @ all these snacks!

This shop has great snacks. I would 10/10 recommend them to a friend. It's a hidden gem. I could spend hours in here. They have great prices too.

Milk tea (red bean) is 4.99 while the product is place with the price tag milk tea (taro) with price 3.99.

This is my first time also definitely last time to visit here. It's nice to see Asian (Chinese) convenience store in Davis. The store is small but has almost all kinds of snacks Chinese people/students need. This is the good thing. However, the price tag system is a disaster and I am really disappointed. I was craving for some milk tea and bought the milk tea (red bean). The price tag under the product is milk tea (taro) $3.99. There is no correct price tags around. Also there is no milk tea (taro) on the shelf. So I thought it makes sense to assume the milk tea (red bean) is $3.99 too. When I checked out, the price is $4.99. I asked the lady to double-check. She said sorry, not all products have price tags. Let me address the fact again, there is no price tag $4.99 nearby this product at all. I am not saying the store does this on purpose, but the experience I had was so disappointing. This is not the only case. Another product marinated lotus root associated with a price tag $5.99 but shows $9.xx when I checked out, and I cancelled that product.

So happy another Asian store has arrived!! They have a good selection of snacks. Usually, I have to go to Sacramento to get certain things I'm looking for. It's a cute little shop that's tucked underneath the little plaza. They have aisles for snacks like chips, cookies, crackers, candy, pocky. Another one for the different rice and noodles, the many different ramen, they even have a fridge for frozen things like mochi, dumplings, meatballs. I love the many different types of sauces they have for cooking, the pickled side dishes, instant soups and they even have all the different types of drinks and teas. It's a good decent variety of items there. The worker there is uber friendly and polite. I love they have snacks that remind me of my childhood. And their prices are much cheaper too which is nice.

My family and I decided to walk around and as we were about to cross the street, out of the corner of my eye I spotted an intriguing window display...of tinned fish! Be still my bougie heart and the cookbooks, totes, art prints, artisanal and local cheeses, breads and spreads! They had just moved from a smaller location and this little house front made it all the more charming. My husband laughed and said it was like Mabel's had manifested itself knowing I would be there that day. The owner (Shelley I believe) was so warm and welcoming. She was sweet to my toddler and clearly had experience as a mother/aunt/grandmother to someone because she charmed my daughter who is usually very shy. I walked away with a gorgeous tinned fish print of one of my favorite local artists, and a tote full of tinned fish from brands I enjoy and others I had not tried before. The selection is vast and really offers so much for both experienced and new converts to tinned fish. Mabel's is THE place to come to for your picnicking needs. Grab a blanket and make your way here to grab stuff. Small sized spreads make it easy, and all you need is some bread or crackers, fresh fruit and salami, chocolate and tinned fish of course! The wonderful people who work here make Mabels Market. Because you feel like you have a friend who is looking out for you; to ensure you have the best experience. So support this lovely business because we all need a little tinned fish.

They have their famous pies as well as produce and some other stuff, but its a very small shop with like 4 tables outdoors. Def a stop on your way somewhere, not necessarily a destination. Their pie slices were like $8 a slice and a whole pie was $30. They also had many more options for whole pies vs pie slices, but its possible its because we went later in the day? They had some savory pies, cold pies, but mostly baked pies like peach, various berries, etc! They also have fruit freezes you can purchase too! We ended up sharing a banana cream pie and i got a peach pie too. The banana cream pie was HEFTY. It was HEAVY and PACKEDDDD. A LOT of cream a LOT of banana filling. Very yummy though and feeds a lot more people than you'd think. The peach pie was also very good! Im not a huge "cooked fruit" person and neither is mt family but we demolished the pie. The peaches were a surprisingly nice texture! And the crust was very good. $30 is a bit steep but if theyre using fresh fruits and baking them fresh its worth a stop if youre in the area!

Either way, this was a neat stop that we went to during one of my visits. It's small, but it fulfills a niche without making the residents of Davis have to meander out to San Jose or the like to go to a Japanese market. There's imported Japanese household goods, anime and kawaii merchandise and trinkets, snacks, drinks, a LOT of Gunpla and model kits, manga, stationery, instant noodles, condiments, furikake, mochi and other ice cream, cosmetics, apparel, and much more. There's also some hot and fresh foods like baked buns, etc. Cool that they added several different floors and support the Japanese community there as there's classes too.
