It was nice a crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. It had a wonderful flavor. I loved it. The Tonkotsu was good. It had good flavor. I have had better though at other places. It was also warm and not hot. I can't review the Dan Dan Noodles because I did not try it since it's spicy and I don't like spicy foods. The eggs roll were good. Simple crispy, and good. I took my granddaughter for her birthday. There were four kids and three adults. I got the bill. They charged me 18% service charge when I question what the service charge was, and if it goes to the server, the server was very timid and said she didn't know. So I asked for the manager or the owner neither were in, but a lady behind the counter called the owner and the owner said it split between the servers which I highly doubt because they were very secretive about giving that information. I've been here many times not with a big group but if you go there with six or more question that 18% surcharge and where does it go to? I think it goes to the owners. I go to many restaurants and I tip very well but I'm not gonna screw a server out of a tip, but the owners are taking 18% out of my bill. This needs to be addressed not only at this place, but there are other places similar to this that when you walk in the door that's an automatic 18% surcharge this needs to stop and make sure that the servers are getting what they deserve. We came around 7ish and there was enough seating for the two of us without waiting. Between us, the bill was about $120 with two bottles of sake, ramen, three rolls and two beers. I ordered to go but when I went to pick up my order I realized I had made a big mistake and I should have dined in. The restaurant was, modern, open, clean and inviting. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, egg rolls and pot stickers. The Dan Dan noodles were amazing, with much flavor coming from the stir fried ground pork, with the hot chilies, sesame sauce, and scallions. The eggrolls were light and airy. They were actually the spring rolls, deep-fried. Yummy to my palate! The potstickers I didn't eat until the next day, but they were bursting with flavor. This place gets 4 thumbs up! It was my first time at Ichiban ramen and since my friend is a pescatarian, we decided to omit meat for our lunch. Atmosphere is so pretty and staff was nice and friendly. Since I speak Mandarin, we were able to communicate and they were so nice. We ordered the Agedashi tofu appetizer and it was so delicious with the house sauce. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was light and savory. I got the vegetarian ramen and tuna roll and both was fresh and delicious. My friend loved her shrimp tempura udon. I will definitely go back again just for their 1/2 ramen + 1 sushi roll lunch special. If you're in the neighborhood and crave ramen, I highly recommend Ichiban for both the food and the atmosphere. I hope to bring my hubby there so he can also try their sushi and ramen. Wasn't crazy About the fried squid; it was not light & crispy like their lovely tempura but more traditional breading, bit overcooked. Ramen is fine; the pork isn't as luscious at some other places nor is the broth so I focus on other items. My friend had chicken yakitori which was a little different; I guess usually it's thinner slices on skewers and this was big generous chunks but I liked the one I tasted. An absolute gem! Love that you can get authentic ramen/Japanese cuisine in Homer Glen. I ordered the Karaage Shoyu ramen for carry out on a cold and rainy night for some comfort, and it sure delivered. The broth was flavorful, the chicken was crispy, and I loved how the bowl was packed full of toppings like corn, sprouts, and scallion. The noodles are delicious as well. I didn't take a photo because I couldn't wait to eat! Service was great, and food took around average time for carry out. Good experience! Two vegetarians here and we got the veggie miso ramen and it was very good! The agedashi tofu, however, was probably one of my favorite dishes I've had in years. Having moved from the city with ample ramen options, we had been on the hunt for a solid ramen joint in the south suburbs. We came on a Thursday evening and were seated and waited on immediately. While we were there, there was one other couple eating, and about a dozen to go orders processed -- we were pleased to see them busy. The food was phenomenal. We started with the crab rangoons, which were cooked/fried to perfection and were a tremendous serving size. We then both had ramen. I had the Miso Ramen (with meat) and my partner had the Yakisoba Ramen with fried chicken. Both were very good and again, generous serving size. We threw some spice in there, and it was delicious. Afters months of searching for a new sushi spot, I somehow ended up ordering from here, I'm glad I did! Placed a takeout order, the food was almost ready in 20 minutes. All of the food was fresh, boxed nicely. I couldn't believe the quality when I got home. After several horrible recent sushi experiences, this place has set the bar high! We've been wanting to check out this place for a while, and decided to stop here after a dentist appointment next door :) We ordered the Dan Dan ramen, Hawaiian style poke bowl, and a Thai iced tea with boba. It was all absolutely delicious. The food looked exactly like the picture in the menu, was fresh, rice in the poke bowl was seasoned perfectly, the ramen noodles were chewy and delicious, and the broth was really flavorful (and spicy!). I love this place so much already and we are already planning on when we'll be back. There were a couple to-go orders while we ate. They have a decent indoor dining area - perfect for either a quick lunch or a nice dinner. The menu has enough of a variety without being overwhelming. The BEST ramen spot in the south suburbs of Chicago. Before finding this place, I use o have to go up to the city to get passable ramen but Ichiban delivers on the flavor. My usual is the tonkatsu but I occasionally get the shio ramen if I want something lighter. Love the noodles and the toppings are very good as well. Right before the pandemic, we hit this spot up before everything closed down. When we felt more comfortable to dine in again, this was the first place we went to. I also usually order the takoyaki as well and it's just as good as the ones I ordered back in SoCal: tasty and piping hot on the inside. Service is pretty good. We've gone here quite a few times and the waitress remembers us. One time, she even asked us if we even needed the menu since we've become regulars! Disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian, I do not eat fish or any other type of meat. Therefore, please take this review with a grain of salt as I did not personally eat any of the non veggie items. My eldest son ordered the eel roll with miso soup. That was devoured rather quickly. I ordered the Vegetable Noodle Ramen along with Vegetable Fried Rice. Enh, the noodles were nothing to write home about. Half of it was cabbage. Yuck. I'll stick to my cheap ramen package using vegetable broth, thank you. The Vegetable Fried Rice was not saturated in oil, which was a nice reprieve. However, the portion size was not large and the carrots looked old. Summer roll was okay but 5 average size pieces with below average amount of shrimp. It was just a pout half the size of the normal rolls and nearly twice the price. Full disclosure - we didn't order any ramen, just sushi. Very disappointed with the quality in all the rolls we ordered (Spicy Tuna, Volcano, Sweet Potato, Pink Lady and Crunch roll). Several rolls would fall apart the second you tried to pick it up. So you were basically eating the roll deconstructed. The rolls that did stay together didn't really have anything to make you want to eat it again. Would like to give them another shot to try the ramen bc I'm all about supporting local business, but will likely be in search of a new sushi spot. read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday. Was recommended by a friend and had take out due to COVID-19. I had the veggie ramen and my husband had the teriyaki bowl with salmon. We both loved our respective dishes and we've had similar dishes in other restaurants. My veggie ramen came in separate bowls. One for solid and the other for the soup. That's typical. Ramen had a lot of veggies: shredded cabbage and carrots, broccoli, shoots, bean sprouts and corn. The soup was very good. It all tasted very fresh and not overly salted (but not bland either). Soup was not spicy at all. So, if you like spicy broth, this is not for you. I normally don't finish a whole bowl of ramen, but this one I did. Not sure if I was just so hungry or it was just that good. The teriyaki bowl with salmon was good. However, much smaller than I'd hope. It was a 3oz salmon + maybe 6 pieces of veggies and a cup of cooked white rice and that's it for $14.95. Good but unsure of the value. As for service, they were pretty busy and staff seemed nice but after telling us an eta of 30min over the phone, our food wasn't ready. They even said they'll call if there was any changes which they didn't. Even after arriving at the restaurant and being told the food should take about 5 more minutes, we ended up waiting 30 more minutes in actuality.
