He Said: This restaurant has the best AYCE in the state of MN; try to tell me otherwise. High quality food. Good variety of food. Good service. Reasonably priced (mostly for lunch). I have been coming to Ichiban since it first opened. While it's sad/ frustrating that their menu offerings have decreased (no more lunch scallops), the quality of food has always been stellar. The menu is on a tablet, but customers place their orders with the waiter/ waitress, still. Food does not take too long to arrive. Their lunch option is fairly priced. I have never had their dinner, but I imagine it's good, too. Pros: - Food quality is good - Staff is great Cons: - Dinner price is a little high

When my friend comes in town from New York, this is her favorite spot to go to since it's nearby where her mom lives so this is a place that we always end up at after COV beverages We like the portion it's definitely enough for the price of AYCE

Food presentation is always pretty, there's a lot of options, and quality is as expected for ayce. On a Saturday night, it gets pretty loud so it's a little harder to have conversations or hear the server. There were a few hiccups on orders but nothing to get fussy about, especially when the staff is so friendly. There's a two hour limit on dining and they only seat you if your whole party is present.

This place is so beautiful when you step in. From the presentation of the decor to the presentation of food was very impressive . The menu is on a tablet and you have a waitress to take your order. Super friendly and food comes out very fast. Staff is very attentive to make sure everyone has a great experience. The food tastes really good . The only thing that really is different is the limit of food you can order each round. I don't think it's that big of a deal, makes you slow down.

Ichiban Sushi is easily a go-to spot for quality sushi in Minnesota. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the all-you-can-eat menu features everything from high-grade nigiri to creative specialty rolls. The experience is seamless.. you order through an iPad, and the food comes out remarkably fast. With its modern, chic ambiance and a very friendly waitstaff, it's the perfect reliable pick for a quick and delicious meal

Still so good! For $49.95/person++ it's so worth it! Especially the bluefin tun and soft shell crab was epic.

Had never been but was invited for a birthday. They do not accept reservations for less than 6 people and we had 5 so we just showed up and waited. Took about 30 minutes to get a table on a Friday night. We had plans after dinner and let them know we had about a hour till we had to leave and the service was great! Not sure if it's always fast but food came out super quick. Not only great food but the cocktails were definitely worth it for me. When i think all you can eat, I dont always equate that with good quality but this place had both. I will be visiting again soon.

We came here in December for our anniversary and were so impressed we made it through a 2 hour wait on Valentine's Day to get a table! Delicious food, extremely fresh fish, creative rolls and great service. I just wish they took reservations!

Came here a lot when it first opened. Finally doing a review and came here during a weekday lunch. Price when I went this time was $29.95. It used to be $24.95 earlier this year.. The space is clean and very open. Sat at the bar area this time on as we came during peak lunch hour and still had great service. The server was attentive and dishes came out quickly and dirty plates were being taken away just as quick. The food is definitely more upscale than the typical AYCE sushi place in MN. One thing I think that sets Ichiban apart from the rest is how well they prepare their rice. It has a nice subtle tang from the sushi vinegar that helps to balance the fish. The nigiri is the best thing here. The sushi rolls are above average and hit the spot when you have that sushi craving. The chicken karaage is a must get: it always comes out piping hot and crispy. The tempura plate was average, the vegetable tempura a little too oily. Lastly, the ice cream mochi tastes just like the one you get in the grocery stores. Overall quality of the food is 4/5. This was my go to AYCE sushi spot when they opened, but now I don't think I would come here frequently mainly due to the increased price. For a sushi craving, there are other new options just as good as Ichiban's sushi but for less cost.

Excellent service here generally. It's a nice step up from the other AYCE options. They make it easy to order with the iPad menu. I enjoy the large menu option with excellent sushi appetizers such as the Pepper Tuna and Yellowtail Jalapeño. One of my favorites is the soft shell crab which comes battered and fried to perfection. The sushi portions and quality are also very great for the price. It's consistent through out my many visits. I always leave this place satisfied.

Worth Every Penny for Top-Quality AYCE Japanese! Perfect for a birthday celebration. I came here for dinner and was initially a bit shocked by the $47 per person price tag--but it turned out to be more than worth it. From the very first plate of sashimi, I could tell this place was something special. The salmon and white tuna sashimi were fresh, buttery, and beautifully presented--easily on par with what you'd find at a higher-end a la carte sushi spot. The service was excellent--our server was super friendly, answered all of our questions with patience, and checked in on us frequently without being intrusive. It really added to the overall experience. Note that they ask that you wait until your entire party is present before they'll seat you. The ambiance and decor were also a highlight: cozy, clean, and adorably Japanese, with lots of authentic little touches. Highly recommend ordering: * Sashimi (especially salmon and white tuna) * Beef Tataki - tender and flavorful * Salmon Carpaccio - bright and refreshing * Crispy Rice Tuna - crunchy, spicy, filling, and delicious * Any of the Special Sushi Rolls - beautiful and satisfying * Matcha Snowflake Ice - light and perfectly sweet - I'll dream of this one until my next visit What to skip: * Calamari - too chewy and lacked flavor * Teriyaki Beef - dry and overdone If you're looking for a quality AYCE Japanese experience with fresh seafood, great atmosphere, and attentive service, this spot absolutely delivers. Can't wait to come back!

My friend suggested eating here for sushi. All you can eat for a set price. Reservations recommended for parties of 6 or more, this can be done online. Otherwise call them to see if reservation is needed for smaller party. Beautifully decorated and busy. We sat in the dining area towards the back, one side is the sushi chefs and the other side is the bar. We have an iPad as a menu, but still had to order through the waitress. 90 minute max for the table. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Tried this sushi all-you-can-eat spot and was seriously impressed with the quality--definitely the best sashimi I've had from any AYCE sushi place in Minnesota. The scallop nigiri stood out--super fresh and buttery. Minnesota roll and salmon carpaccio were both solid picks too. Hibachi steak was a nice surprise--juicy and flavorful. Only letdown was the mackerel nigiri, which was a bit too fishy for my taste. Service-wise, everything was smooth except for one hiccup: our waiter (last name might've been Le?) was not the friendliest, which did take away from the experience a bit. Would definitely go back, just hoping for a different server next time.

Cream cheese - typical but kind of small Chicken Katsu- crunch outside and not dry inside Ramen- from the presentation, does not look creamy. It also did not taste creamy. Doesn't have the typical tonkotsu ramen taste I've had before. Broth is a little bland. The pork belly is basically pork belly and not the typically ramen chashu pork I'm used to. It was a disappointing bowl of ramen. Sushi- presentation wise, does not look fancy. The plating looks like what you would get at an all you can eat place. Per husband, it was decent good. As for me, based on ramen, I would not go back for that. Maybe next time I will give sushi a try but not sure if it's a god back to place. If you want $5 appetizers, it's worth a try. If you get happy hour sushi rolls for $13 each is not too bad but regular price is about $17 per roll (like dynamite roll.) Service was quick. Food came out in 10 mins or less but it was not busy when we went as well.

My group was the only ones here during all of lunch hour, so I was a little worried at first. There was only one server and she was also working the front desk as well. The menu was difficult to navigate as the items on their buffet menu did not have descriptions, but their al a carte and online menu did, so we had to cross reference menus to know exactly what was in each roll. Orders were taken quickly but the food came out a little slow; I wonder if they had much fewer cooks working for how slow their lunch hours were. Nonetheless, the food did arrive and what was missed in speed was made up for in quality. I didn't take many pictures since the I was so hungry while waiting for the food, but the one I did take was of the Snow Thrill roll, which had 3 different kinds of fish in it (just check out the amount of fish in that thing!!). Nigiri was solid and the rice was properly sushi vinegar'd. A couple other solid picks were the salmon tartar and gyoza. Dessert options are plentiful, but they didn't have some of the items listed on the menu like certain flavors of the mochi ice cream. If you're okay with a little bit of a wait, I would recommend trying this place out. Probably in my top 3 in terms of the quality of sushi in MN.

This was, without a doubt, the best sushi and service I have ever experienced…read more I enjoy new experiences. Before Saturday I had never heard of Omakase. For those of you reading this that are in that boat, it is well worth it. Omakase is a five-course sampler of the best sushi they have to offer. Calling it a sampler does a disservice to the artistry and mastery of the craft that to a very select few is sushi. Bask (I hope I spelled that right) is one such master. My buddy and I came in for a fun visit to the Twin Cities. On an impulse, he suggested sushi, and my instinct was to check Yelp. I'm glad I did. We sat at the bar after a short wait, where we met Emma. Emma is a bringer and friendly bar tender who happens to love sushi. We read through the menu and saw that Omakase had a whole page devoted to it. Emma let us know that the chef and cook staff dismantle whole fresh fish frequently, ensuring their fish meets their high standard. That one fact made the decision easy. I wish I had taken pictures of the food. You'll have to take my word for it that each serving was a work of art, some in their simplicity, others arranged with delicate touches of culinary flair. Without pictures of the dishes, the best I can do are two examples. The first course was three different cuts from the same ahi tuna, featuring the leanest portion, a medium portion and a fatty portion of the same fish. Having fresh fish and experiencing such variety from the same animal was eye opening. The other example was the uni. Both of us had tried it at other establishments and neither of us recalled our respective experiences fondly. Here, the flavor and texture was what I was told I should expect with uni. If I had known it was part of the meal before ordering, I probably wouldn't have gone with it. Now, I'm open to having it again, and if it's here I'll enjoy it again. The meal was perfectly portioned for my buddy and myself to feel full, but not stuffed. The flavors and textures were perfect. Words fail to reach the feelings invoked. We may have just been ruined on sushi. I eagerly await my next trip to your beautiful city, if only to visit Billy Sushi again.

I will admit, it's a bit too fancy for me sometimes. And the price matches. But it has been a delightful and delicious dining experience both times, so who am I to complain? I really want to come back and do the omakase sometime. -Cocktails: They have this whole big explanation about how they take special care in the curation of their cocktails, and I have to say, they are pretty great. I got the Party Girl this last time and it was good but pretty boozy. The gold flak on the top of it was a bit over the top for me, but whatever. My friend got the Raspberry Beret, which was delicious and obviously appropriately themed for Minneapolis and being down the street from First Ave. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of sake, Japanese beer, etc. -Apps: We love the yuzu tuna and have gotten it both times. This last time we also got the salmon carpaccio, which was also delicious. I love age dashi tofu, and this version was good - but not the best (Oragimi has a better one). We found the broth to be delicious, but the one big chunk of tofu was a bit unwieldy, and the coating was a bit gummy. I would pass on that one next time. -Sushi-wise: Nigiri are amazing here - delicious, perfectly cut fish, generous portions, rice that is often still warm. No complaints. For rolls, we love the Big Blue Wave and the Toro Mania. We also ordered the Fancy & Furious, which was less delicious to me but still pretty tasty. Service both times was totally fine - nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about either. I am sure we'll be back. Note: you basically need a reservation if you want to come during a prime time or on the weekend. Book ahead.

This was totally fine until one day I'm told I need to start paying $1 to remove the salmon, seems like a crazy thing considering I'm saving them money to NOT include the fish, arguably the most expensive item in the roll.
