This is the best Sushi I've had in Jersey period... it doesn't look like much as its small and in a strip mall... when you go in there is two small tables... so four people could dine in but anything more would be unlikely. However the gentleman behind the counter knows his craft well, and I mean very well. Everything was perfectly made to order and super delicious, I've had high end Sushi before and this place is as close to that as I've found in New Jersey as the rice is perfect, the fish room temp and melt in your mouth delicious. Don't be fooled by the outside of this place as it's in a very tiny strip mall. It's so unassuming, just like its original place in the Hamilton Mall. But foreal- 10/10 one of the best sushi in the area with rolls that are actually unique and taste good. I wish I could eat here every day. My husband and I recently came here for lunch after seeing all the great Yelp reviews, and happy to say they're accurate. It may not look like much from the outside but this is a local gem and probably the best sushi we've found in the area. It's mostly takeout but we sat at a small table and the owners were so accommodating, even making us hot tea. Sushi was super fresh and we especially loved the spicy crunchy crab roll made w a ton of REAL crab (all too rare!). A great low key lunch option, and we will definitely be back! read more

It's all super fresh and tasty. It's a small place so their seating is limited, but we never had a problem finding a seat. We came here three times while on vacation because we loved it so much. We were going to my daughters house and she asked what we wanted for dinner. I didn't want her to make a fuss so I said I'd pick up sushi. She suggested Ichiban and I'm glad she did. We ordered the Crunch Blue Crab roll, the Godzilla roll, the White and Red tuna roll and a regular Eel Avocado roll. All were very good and the service was extremely fast. My daughter ordered 5 rolls so along with ours we had 9 rolls and was ready in about 20 minutes. It could have been a slow night so I wouldn't pressure them, I think we got lucky. What really stood out for me was the fried outside of the Godzilla roll which added a great crunch, and the real crab taste from the blue crab roll. The other two rolls were very good also. If you come here, you must try the sushi burrito! The portion size is huge for the cheap price of $6.99. It is extremely filling, delicious, and a quick meal. I have also had some of their regular sushi rolls which always tasted fresh. The location itself is very clean and set up like a sushi bar. Although mainly takeout, there is some seating available that can get crowded around noon. Nonetheless, I went here quite a lot for lunch in the summer and the owners were always so nice to me. I work with food for a living, Ichiban is the real deal. Some of their special rolls are the best I've ever had. Black pepper tuna, kani roll & chef's special roll only to highlight a few. They really are the best sushi I have found outside of Philly & actually are better. P.S. shrimp tempura roll is probably the best one I've ever had. Let me start out by saying the sushi here is great. We ordered at least 6 different rolls and they were all freshly made, good, expertly rolled, and very tasty. If you like sushi, get it from here. One of us also ordered the soft shell crab burrito. FYI, there is no tortilla here. The nori takes its place and then it is filled with a crispy deep fried soft shell crab, avocado, lettuce, and a few other things to make a very tasty lunch. The only disappointment here is that the sauce on the ends is just there so the rest of the roll is lacking this flavor as you eat your way to the end. Six or seven rolls plus the SSCB was about $50. Very reasonable. The online downloadable menu will tell you what is in each roll. This is one of these places that you would like to eat-in but probably can't due to the size and the number of tables. We ate in the car as it was too cold to picnic/tailgate and the one hightop table and the stools at the sushi bar are all too tall for a wheelchair user. You can get in, but there is no place for someone in a w/c to eat. Also, FYI we did not see any restrooms for the public. For takeout, it is still great, but you should know what you are up against. read more

I have been coming here for yearsssss since high school and they never disappoint with the food. Everything tastes fresh and delicious and is made quickly. I get the soft shell crab sushi burrito very often and the prices are very value and fair. Since covid though, I have experienced some problems with calling as they'll get really busy with orders. If they don't pick up, they are probably still on the phone with another customer since they only have one phone and one person answering so just call back in a couple minutes. You might get frustrated if they're too busy and can't take your order but understand that they have about 1-2 sushi chef (usually 1) working at a time. It's delicious and SUPER VALUE if they're not busy so I still highly recommend!!! read more

Ichiban Sushi is a great take out option for sushi in the area. They have a pretty good selection of options and we have enjoyed every roll we have ordered from here. I have had very expensive sushi and very cheap sushi. This sushi is a pretty good quality for the inexpensive price point, but it definitely is not the best sushi I have ever had-kind of sushi. So good! Super airy and clean looking with an open kitchen and the sushi man right up front. I immediately took note of beautiful color of the fish. Looked very fresh and bright. Loved the photo menu was easy to choose what we wanted. The woman at the counter did warn us that it would be a half hour until our food would be ready, there were a few orders ahead of us. No big deal at all. Orders shumai. Very good. Sushi burrito: AWESOME not too big and clunky but very full of all kinds of delicious sushi, from Kani to soft shell crab. SO GOOD! salmon and tuna nigiri: have not had salmon that unctuous in I can't even tell you how long. Perfectly cut, nice amount of rice but not too much. Spicy tuna roll: actually spicy not just orange like many places Crispy shrimp tempura roll: crispy shrimp pretty self explanatory! Got hot green tea to go. Food was done in exactly 30 minutes though we had to eat in the car as there's only 3 bar seats and a two top table. Great place to grab your sushi quickly! I heard so much about Ichiban from local friends and decided to swing by and grab their famous Sushi Burrito, which I enjoyed VERY much. Everything was made "fresh" so it takes them a moment to make your food, but the price is amazing. It's not your average grocery store sushi takeout since it's not premade (I consider that awesome) and it's basically either the same price or better! I'm actually sad at how little reviews there are for Ichiban because they definitely deserve more hype than this. The workers were extremely polite and friendly, they provided prompt and friendly service which I appreciate greatly. This is a go to place for a quick bite or to order for lunch while you're at work. Sushi was very flavorful and well made especially for a non-gourmet restaurant. I wholeheartedly will recommend this place to anyone if you're looking for something cheap, quick and delicious! FYI: The place is really really small, so it's definitely not a place to dine in, unless you're a party of 1 or 2. It's more of a takeout restaurant. read more

Dropped in here on my way to Atlantic City as it appeared there were not very many carry out options for sushi (from my brief Yelp search while en route). Placed a rather large order (lunch and dinner!) and it was ready within five short minutes with accuracy and all the necessary carry-out necessities. Each roll was delicious. Ichiban is my new favorite sushi place. There isn't much seating but we were taking our food to go. The prices are the best around. It was also a nice surprise to see the owners as id gone to their previous venue growing up. We ordered tempura shrimp, spring rolls, a combo sushi meal and sashimi. This place has good sushi burrito. I always get the regular sushi burrito when I come to this restaurant. The staff is extremely nice. If you order more than 30 dollars, you get a free drink.
