I'd like update everyone on my recent Megu experience on 4th of July weekend 2019. Where to even begin? How about being locked in the bathroom? OR let's start with paper water cups and wet seat cushions? Anywhere you start, it always ends poorly. In total, we spent 3 hours at Megu with only 2 bottles of wine. Did I want to spend 3 hours? Heck no. Start to finish this trip to Megu wasn't time well spent. It took 10 minutes to be seated for our 8:30 reservation and then another 15+ before we snagged a waiter to get wine glasses. How can you not have extra staff the weekend of the 4th? How do you not game plan? Regardless, we spent too much time doing things for ourselves (getting small plates, wiping our wet seats, and clearing our table). Lastly, this will be our final trip to Megu. I can't foresee giving them another try after this poor performance. Figure it out, Megu. Ps. I heard someone got locked in the bathroom the weekend prior to the 4th and the door had to be broken down! THEN they proceeded to use power tools to reattach said door during dinner hours. I have been coming to Megu for sushi for about a year now and have never had any complaints! The inside is very clean and neat. Our servers are always kind and attentive. We come to this place quite frequently and on several occasions, we have ordered here via Uber Eats- we were always happy with out food until recently. I am very sad to say that my recent visit was a fishy disappointment. We used to love the sashimi from here, because they were fresh and affordable. There was some sort of construction going on in the side walk just in front of the restaurant which is probably why they didn't have too many people eating in on a Saturday evening. I usually get the a la cart sashimi, or chirashi, or the sashimi deluxe that comes with soup and salad. First of all, I was never a fan of smoked salmon as a sashimi. It is too salty and just does not go well with wasabi. This was the first time ever that they served smoked salmon as part of their sashimi deluxe. I expected it would include either an octopus or shrimp, but nope, smoked salmon. And speaking of wasabi, the wasabi at the time we visited was weak and powdery with clumps of wasabi powder. We dumped the whole thing into the soy sauce in hopes of adding just a little bit of kick to the already super fishy sashimi. The only pleasant aspect of the meal was the naruto roll (i think because the ponzu sosy sauce masked the fishiness). Needless to say, wont be coming back here anytime soon. read more

Ate here last night with my friend and her two kids. The waitress was sweet, kind, and very hard working. The sushi was delicious and my friend and I agreed it was the cheapest we ever ate out considering we eat all the specialty rolls and order extra items for the kids. The only thing I would change is the lighting. It's very bright and the lights are different shades of white and yellow which throws off the aura. However, overall we had an amazing time! Great BYOB restaurant in Ventnor City. We made a reservation but this ended up not mattering when we arrived. There was rainfall and the restaurant took a bunch of patrons. I was annoyed because it appeared that some tables had been reserved but the only way we got a table immediately was by sitting outside. Luckily, they had awnings and umbrellas outside over the tables. Sitting outside in the rain turned out to be extremely enjoyable and we had great service (once the server eventually came to the table the first time). I had some fresh fish with vegetables and rice. My husband and daughter had rolls and we had a really great appetizer but I can't remember what. Total bill was just under $60. I have been to Megu twice at the Ventnor location. Both times the food has been good. The duck spring rolls are delicious but an order only comes with 1 that is cut in half. Besides that, most of the menu consists of sushi. I would say that its on the better half of sushi in the area. The fish is fresh and tender. The rolls are full and they don't skimp on the pricier ingredients. The shop is pretty small. Both times I've been in, there was only 1 server/hostess and 1 sushi chef but the service is still good. My order was perfect the first time, but avocado was forgotten in my alaska roll the second time. When I called them to let them know, they remade my 2 rolls, threw in an appetizer, and offered to deliver. Great service recovery on their part and I will be going back to enjoy they're food. read more

Their online website says they deliver so long as it's within three miles. When you checkout it tells you the fee for delivering to AC is 2.95 and $3 something for Margate. (Mind you the have a high $35 minimum delivery requirement) After placing my order to the HOSPITAL I get a call saying they won't deliver because "the driver doesn't want to go into Atlantic City" then why advertise that you do? read more

Angry dragon roll has no papaya and the drizzle was more like a flood of sauce. The sauce made it look unappetizing but it was very tasty. "Chef's selection roll" was delicious, but I have no idea what roll it was. THE WORST: The GRUBHUB prices are between $1-$10 extra per item. And we had a variety of sashimi (the Toro was amazing) and a couple of specialty rolls (King Kong Roll was huge and very tasty). The 4 stars are for the food, but the service was more like 2 stars. Slow and inattentive. We sat outside which was nice, but all of the tables out there (4 parties) were neglected by the staff. We had to get up at one point and go in to find somebody to help us. But takeout takes WAY too long- we arrived to pick up an order promised for 25 minutes, only to wait ultimately more than an hour. I'd rather they just say it's going to be an hour!
