We haven't been here since before the renovation- beautifully done! Mia was our server and was very sweet and patient! We sat outside to enjoy the ambiance and 90s band (do fun)! I did not think I would like this place to tell you the truth. But honestly it took the place of my favorite spot for Chinese food for the last 10 years. I have been coming to Yuki Hana since they opened in the early 2000s. Sean and Doris are wonderful, solid community members and are always so friendly and provide wonderful Asian Food including Chinese, Japanese and some Thai Food that never disappoints. But I am particulary always in love with their sushi, sashimi, hand rolls and special rolls, which are always fresh, creative and beautifully presented! When the lockdown happened, they quickly devised a way to keep serving their amazing food, and provided a light of hope in Brigantine. I'm glad I gave this place a second chance! I ordered food from here roughly 8 years ago and it was AWFUL! Since then, I think they changed their management so I decided to try it again. I was craving sushi so I decided to order a vegetable roll (cucumber & avocado), a sweet potato roll, a cucumber roll, and a yam roll. I'm vegan and was happy to see so many vegetarian rolls on their menu! When I went to go pick up my order, they had a great pickup window that enforced COVID safety. I was very impressed! It was fairly inexpensive too! The rolls were delicious and satisfying! We really enjoyed the yam roll! Shockingly it had more flavor than the sweet potato roll! Not only was the order wrong this was us giving them a second chance. I eat shrimp lomien frequently and yes seafood does have a smell, but the shrimp smelled so bad I could not even face eating it. Pork fried rice there's no pork in the rice it is simply yellow rice. My husband order boneless spare ribs took one bite and couldn't even eat it said he would rather go hungry and my husband never refuses food he will eat anything . Have been here before for dinner (both sushi and Chinese) and the food was always good. Went for lunch special recently and the quality of the sushi was absolutely TERRIBLE. The hamachi appetizer tasted extremely fishy, like it was coated in bunker oil. We told our server and she was very pleasant, had the chef make it again and it tasted no different. Our sushi rolls came and it was the same deal, tasteless and very poor quality. We sat there for a good 20 minutes and didn't see a single employee to help us. The sushi chef walked over and we informed him that the food was not good, tasted like the fish might have been bad. He cleared our plates (which were untouched and still full of food) and brought the check. We paid for the sub par food in full and left. We're locals. We've always enjoyed their discounted lunch specials especially considering that they have a Chinese and a Japanese menu. We've always enjoyed their takeout and stopping by for lunch or dinner at Yuki Hana. Well, it's been awhile since we've been there and it sure has gone downhill. We went with our grandsons and we were all disappointed. My soup was promptly served but my wife received her egg roll about 15 minutes later. My wife received her order of edamame but I never received my appetizer so when they served my entrée, I had them remove the appetizer from our check. Three of the four of us received our entrees but they were all tepid. The food was a bit warmer after it was returned to the kitchen for reheating. I guess the food waited in the kitchen while the waitress folded napkins for the upcoming dinner crowd. The three of us were almost finished with our entrees when our grandson's order finally arrived. He was no longer hungry by that point. I should mention that we were the only customers in the restaurant for lunch at 1PM. An empty restaurant during the Fourth of July weekend was certainly a surprise. We won't be back. read more
