    Katsu Udon Set
    El Rey R.

Order KatsuDon + Udon combo Katsu pork was dry on end section. Thin meat, not juicy enough, onion was not enough portion to cook together with egg. Rice was just small size flat out in flat bowl. Udon was just simple. Unagi sushi - rice has no vinegar flavour, rice was pressed. What a shame for a Japanese restaurant doesn't know how to make a proper sushi ? Rice was not sushi rice ? What ? Did I mention sushi rice was not sushi rice ? Wow... what a shame for a Japanese restaurant not using sushi rice. Cheap out every possible way. Sashimi - thin slice for $8/ slice was pretty ripped off. Will I go back again ? Nah... there's other better sushi place out there. Even Vietnamese Sushi makes better than this place. Not worth the money order à la carte. Just order set box and fill ur stomach if u really want eat sushi. What a shame for running this restaurant in beginnings. Bad sushi rice.

I like coming here for some home style cooked Japanese food. It has quite an extensive selection of the non sushi rolls items. The lunch sets are also pretty affordable. When the weather is cold or cool, it is great to have sukiyaki or nabeyaki. The warm food hits the spot. There are also some grilled items and yakitori. Another set I like is the ichiro okazu. You get 6 kinds of appetizer plus sushi, tofu, salad and soup. It is not super filling but it is just nice. You can also add on other items like poke, sashimi, tempura etc to your set at a lower price. The food quality is there and it is generally filled with older Japanese diners, so you know it has passed their standards. Service is friendly and quick. Press a buzzer to get service. The entrance is fitted with contactless system. Wave to get the door open. Awesome. No button to press. There is rear parking (limited spaces) but street parking is also available.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend since we are visiting from Washington state. Great quality fish, good service and just an all around great meal. The fish was very fresh and we loved our chirashi dons. The nigiri we had was very good as well, but a bit too much rice if we were to critique. They definitely have great fish quality here for a good price. Highly recommend!!

OMG it's so good! How have we never been here before? The service was great and the people were super nice. Tons of bento box options to choose from that you can easily come back again and again and get something new! We got : Ichiro Okazu Set Nigiri Sushi Set Spider Roll Udon/Tempura Combo Chawamunshi Spot Prawns Everything was tasty, comforting and not crazily priced. Make reservations and then stroll down to the water afterwards to walk off your meal!

We came here on a Sunday noon without reservations. The restaurant was almost full but luckily there was a table for us. We studied the menu before so we ordered right away with a sukiyaki set and a premium sashimi don. The food came in about 10 minutes. The portion was pretty large for the price. The sashimi were super fresh with high quality. The sukiyaki was pretty good as well. The service was great. We were served with warm Japanese tea by the friendly servers. The place has plenty of free street parking as well. Highly recommended for anyone wants premium Japanese food with reasonable price.

I heard great things about this place and I can see why! The service is very good here and I love the bentos that they have here. I am a big fan of traditional Japanese food. We tried a few rolls as well but I preferred the bentos more. I am definitely coming back when I get the chance!

Happy International SUSHI Day and cheers to the start of the WEEKEND! Ichiro Japanese Restaurant 一朗亭 is one of our favos in Richmond, and it is located in historic Steveston Village. It has a small place, but serves fresh and tasty sushi. Drink: 4/5 Should Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍4/5 Kids: 5/5 WooHoo! (Sushi is mostly a very popular meal for kids.) Price: $50-$100 for two (dinner) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: beside the building has street parking Tips: can get 10% off all pick up orders. recommends to make a reservation. saves room for their desserts . follows public health measures. Would I Return: Yes ‍

Good Selection that comes with the Bento!

Update during Lockdown: Checked out their Special Menu online for take out during this lockdown period and found out that they still have lots to offer and especially their selection of bento boxes are all $14.95 which is a great deal considering the amount of food you get and comes with Miso Soup too! All their rolls are well executed and have a balance of rice / fish ratio, my personal favourite is their Spicy Tuna Roll, for take out they even pack the spicy sauce separately for you to add later! Living in the lower mainland is a true blessing especially during this difficulty time, we still have a great selection of good food offered by all these local businesses! Lets keep supporting these small businesses!

Great spot for Japanese food in Steveston, but it is on the pricey side which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4. I came for dinner on Thursday with a friend. I didn't need to, but I called ahead and made a reservation for 7:30 just in case. It wasn't that busy when we arrived, with only a couple tables seated. Note that Yelp lists the closing hours at 8 pm, but it was 9 pm on the day I came (and is listed as 9 pm on Google too). They have a large menu selection which felt a bit overwhelming, but it helps that they have pictures for most of the menu items. We shared the following dishes: Shrimp tempura ($11.95) - this was fried well with the perfect amount of crisp. Comes with 6 pieces so it's great for sharing! My favorite dish of the night. Calamari ($8.95) - I was underwhelmed by this dish. It was quite bland and hard to chew. Hamachi kama ($19.50 for medium) - decent but some of the meat was a bit dry Deluxe assorted sushi ($30) - I didn't get to try everything on the plate since we were sharing everything, but all the rolls and nigiri I had were pretty good Service was pretty good. Our server was quite attentive and refilled our tea 3-4 times the entire time we were there. Including a drink each, we ended up paying ~$50 after tax and tip which I thought was quite pricey.

Cute Japanese restaurant in Richmond in their old downtown. Busy even for weekdays. Was able to get a table when came in at noon.

Huge menu with indoor and outdoor seating. Ichiro okazu set was filling and all the items were okay overall. It was fun to try all the different small plates. I was a bit disappointed by the rice and the fish were mostly leaner cuts. The top row of the white platter was my favourite part of the meal.

Great sashimi and service. Standard japanese menu and decor. However, some things are not available so if you must have something call ahead and check availability. Also, while you are at it, call and make reservations as it might be busy. Go for: fantastic service and great sashimi Don't go for: a full menu, unique or amazing decor

I know this restaurant has been a stable at Steveston for ages, but it has been such a long time since I visited. We wanted to treat ourselves and decided to order the deluxe set for 2. It was so wonderful! Usually for these kind of set meals, you are usually stuck with a lot of fillers that you don't enjoy eating. But I have to say for this set, we loved absolutely everything! The sashimi boat and the sushi were all top notch ingredients, nothing like ebi or tako or cucumber rolls stuffed in between. The appetizer set was amazing, all tasted different. The size was perfect for 2 people. It also came with ice cream at the end. We will definitely be back again! Highly recommend!!

Their sushi rolls weren't anything special but the sauces were delicious. Only thing was the hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar) - it was a bit dry, but it was huge. I also want to note that it seems like they use real wasabi (not the pasty stuff but the actual grated horseradish) so that was pretty cool. Would love to come back!!

My daughter ordered the kids menu which comes with sausages in curry and some cabbages. She had a few bites and refused to eat it. I had to sure my food with her. The sausage was really salty, not to mention dipping into curry which is also salty. I order the chicken cutlet curry with small size of rice. The rice was very tasty, apparently they only use Japanese rice. Chicken cutlet was nice and moist, however, the curry was pretty salty, typical Japanese style. The pork cutlet and fried shrimp were crunchy, pretty standard. The soap bottle in their bathroom is broken, and I'm not sure why they won't change it right away, and the dispenser part no longer exists. It's pretty hard to use, same as the motion detected faucet, is not set up properly. I personally wouldn't go back, however, if you are accustomed the Japanese curry taste, this might be the place to visit.

I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken thigh. I normally always order pork katsu, but the chicken was tender and juicy. The scallop was huge and not rubbery at all! There was more than enough food for the both of us and we even both had leftovers for lunch the next day. We also ordered the lobster croquette, which was fun to try. This location is inside the CF Richmond Center mall. My party of 4 was able to get seated immediately on a Saturday around 12:45pm. Once seated, there will be a paper where you can individually mark your order at each person's seat. I opted to get the 6 hand roll set along with the salmon aburi oshi. The salmon oshi was very meh IMO, but some others in my party liked it. It was kind of tasteless to me, and the servers suggested not having it with soy sauce, but my friends said it actually tasted better with soy sauce. As for the hand rolls, they were pretty good; my favorites were the toro and the truffle lobster, which is more unique and not something I usually see at other hand roll bars. Service was generally quite good, with our waters and ginger being refilled. We were also offered an explanation of the menu when we were seated as it was our first time dining here. However I feel like the wait time between rolls was a bit of a let down. Similar to some other hand roll bars I've been to, it seems like the order in which parties were served was kind of random. For example, other parties would get 2-3 hand rolls in a row before we got one. Also, even within my party, 2 people got 2 hand rolls in a row before I even got one. It was a bit strange and I wish the service was a bit more balanced. Pricing was also on the higher side - the hand rolls aren't super big so even a 6 set hand roll ($39) didn't leave me feeling completely full.
