It is take out only for now but there are two small tables outside (2 chairs each) so you can eat there. Wonderful service. As the shop could only accommodate 1 customer inside at a time, I waited outside at the table. The staff brought out my order which was unexpected. Since I was already seated, I decided to just eat there. I devoured the chirashi don which was really good. I took the deluxe futomaki roll home. I liked that it was a thin layer of rice for the chirashi don so i did not feel stuffed to the gills by the rice. It was a good portion to complement the seafood. I liked the variety of seafood which included tamago, tuna tataki, unagi and avocado. It will be perfect if Sakura denbu was added to the chirashi too. I did not like futomaki when I was younger but I have since learnt to appreciate it. I prefer this deluxe version which adds unagi and prawn to it. cute, middle of nowhere little japanese restaurant that has been on my to try list for a long time and I ordered some take out to eat at garry point park! I tried out their spicy tuna roll, chopped scallop nigiri and a salmon nigiri. The rice was very well flavoured and chewy in all of the sushi and the salmon was fresh, fatty and delicious! The chopped scallop was very generous with the taste of fresh scallop shining through in each bite but a little bit over sauced. Similarily, the tuna in the spicy tuna roll was not fishy and tasted delicious but the spicy mayo made it very heavy. I enjoy lighter sushi and unfortunately, my choices were a little bit too much for me. Overall, I will definitely return to try other dishes because of their reasonable prices, fresh fish, well flavoured rice and kind service! read more

This Japanese restaurant is always the best in Richmond! No kidding here! It beats all other Japanese restaurants in the city. It is just far away from anywhere. I was happened in the neighbourhood doing stuff, so my boyfriend and I dropped by and had lunch here. Man! Their sashimi was fresh. Sushi had the right amount of rice. Ramen tasted about right. Customer service was excellent. I really had no complaints about anything about this Japanese restaurant. If you happen to be in this neighbourhood or Steveston in Richmond, you need to drop by this restaurant and try their Japanese food. There is always take out and customers dining in. The restaurant is always busy. I came here in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Their quality always remains well. I wish other Japanese restaurants in Great Vancouver would be like this one. :) read more

She recognized that we wanted time to visit and did not rush us. She and other staff members made certain that we had everything we needed. Tiny sushi joint hits above its weight class. This little, unsuspecting restaurant practically in the middle of nowhere cranks out a lot of good sushi and Japanese staples. The restaurant itself probably can't hold more than about 15 people. And, while we were there, we were one of only two couples there. But, what's amazing is the amount of take-out business they have. Every 2-5 minutes, someone would come in to pick up and pay for a take-out order. On the counter, there was literally a mountain of bagged take-out orders ready for pickup. I'm guessing that this place might generate 75% of its revenue from take-out, based on my observations. We tried a tuna tataki salad, a ramen and a sushi platter. The food came out quickly, and tasted satisfactory. Bonus marks for great price and short wait time for food to arrive. Demerits for not so great follow-up service as the lone waitress was too preoccupied with fulfilling take-out orders to check on us and refill our tea. But, for the price, this place is pretty solid if you happen to be in this isolated part of Richmond. The locals living in the nearby townhouses are fortunate to have Village Sushi close by; a great consolation prize for having to live this far out in Richmond. read more

Good prices, good sushi. I came here with my sister since we wanted some sushi for lunch and I'm glad we did. It was a little hard to find but I think that adds to the "hidden delicious surprise" of the place. Reasonable prices, good amount of variety and portion sizes. Highlights were the chopped scallop roll and their nigiri. The tamago was delicious. Only downside was the salmon in the BC roll was a little dry. This review is for their Ramen. We are tooting our horn for their Ra Ra RAment! Who would have thought that a small family sushi place would be serving up probably the best ramen in town next to Kazoku? (in our comparison based on "Japanese Food Critique's" review of her Tokyo based taste buds). OK the Charsiu was a bit tough but take that out and just rate the Soup and Ramen the soup is a winner! If you know and love your Ramen Miso soup (not to be mistaken for the miso soup served as a side dish) a blend of red and white miso paste with the soup broth. We were surprised. This is what we live for and look forward to when we go out to eat. Surprises in a good way. Dishes that you don't expect to be as good until you have that first taste, then the second and third till it's all finished. Nothing left but the satisfaction of a small burp and a rub on the tummy to say "thank you tummy for enjoying this with me" The sushi - is simple traditional Japanese style and not to be mistaken for those fancy expensive sushi joints. If you look at real sushi it's about simplicity, in taste, presentation and execution. Very good price for decent sushi and sashimi. Nothing fancy but you can't beat the price. Went there for dinner while I was visiting Richmond. The place is very small but feels authentic. We ordered chirashi bowl, salad and some sushi. In general, it's good but not great. The sashimi pieces are OK. Soft, juicy and decent but definitely not impressive. Same goes for the sushi pieces. Fresh enough for the customers but sure not the best sushi you've had. For the salad, it's a little disappointing. The sashimi pieces in the salad is way too soft so I kind of doubt its freshness. Maybe marinated too long? A few dark stained green leaves too. Of course, you can't beta its price. Both chirashi bowl and sushi are with much better prices than other stores. And the phone kept ringing for takeout when we were there. So if you're looking for some decent sushi with great price, like grab a fast lunch, this is your place to go. It was soooooooo good that we actually ate everything before remembering to take picture! Highly recommend! Very Kids friendly, although the place is small, they even have kids books available. The lady brought all the kids bowls and utensils for us, even scissors for me to cut the pieces smaller for my little one. This quaint little, mom and pop type, sushi place is tucked away (like really tucked away) in the far corner of the Steveston Village area on No. 2 road. The service is quite fast and very friendly. While the menu is pretty basic and nothing out of the ordinary for a small community sushi place, the sushi here is not only cheap but very delicious. I tried out the miso ramen bowl this time around and was pleasantly surprised at how much depth and flavour the broth had. While the roasted pork was a bit dry, for $8.25, it definitely hit the spot. I've been a regular here for several years, coming back for their consistently delicious sushi and pleasant service, all at very reasonable prices! In addition to its always fresh fish, this spot is awesome because it offers the option of subbing in brown rice for just a small additional cost. Even if you're not avoiding white rice, the brown rice is a great choice to add a subtly nutty flavour to what would already been very well-seasoned sushi. Their salmon, tamago, and avocado rolls are some of my favourites. Though not a fancy place to go for a nice dinner, it's a solid choice for a casual meal - the restaurant only seats about 16 and there's not much ambiance to speak of, so some may prefer to order take-out. On a nice summer day, consider taking a spot on one of the few tables outside, or getting take-out and eating your meal on one of the picnic tables or benches along Richmond's south dyke! read more

I would recommend the smoked salmon and cream cheese roll along with their mango california roll. Sashimi is very good. Store is small so we often order for pick up. Based on what I read from the comments and the pictures I've seen on Yelp, I couldn't wait to go and try out this sushi bar. My first attempt was not successful as I couldn't find the place riding on the #402 bus. I thought the bus would drive along the #2 Rd. So I was on the bus and never got off, cause I could not find #13020 No. 2 Rd. Last night, I made it a point to study the info from Translink. Now, I understand I have to get off at Moncton and #2 Rd. Then walk 3 long blocks to the sushi bar. At first I couldn't find it so I thought I was walking in the opposite direction. I backtracked and saw a lady walking her dog. She directed me to the right place. So this time, I walked on the other side of the street. Walked another 3 long blocks. Finally, found the place. It's really a small place, typical of a neighbourhood sushi bar. But what a disappointment, as one the reasons I went there is that I saw the bento box (a combo with sushi and tempura, cucumber salad and miso soup) picture attached to Village Sushi Bar. They don't serve this item. The owner said they had never served this item and had informed Yelp to remove the picture as it is misleading. But apparently, Yelp didn't bother. The other thing is their Tuna Tataki. It looks so special but the taste of it isn't as good as a tuna toro. One thing I could say is that their price is affordable. The Tuna Tataki was $11.00 and the Chirashi don was $15.00 and the miso soup was $1.75. Service was great provided by the owner's wife. However, they don't have a washroom and I had to walk a distance to get to the public washroom. It was terrible as I suddenly had a stomach ache. I thought I'd never reach it in time looking for the place. Though their food is affordable, I won't go back for the distance from the bus stop and an eatery without a washroom, neh, I will go someplace else. Sorry. read more

Just off Steveston, this small hole in the wall Japanese restaurant seems to be run by a husband and wife team. A very small place, there only seems to be room for about 10 people to sit. Parking is also limited, so this place seems more geared toward local foot traffic or takeout. The hours are actually quite limited and they don't open Sunday and Monday, so make sure to check their operating hours before heading over to eat. Food prices are very reasonable and the sushi is quite good for the price. The sushi are well made and the proportions are decent sized. read more

Good value but I was not impressed with the service. I understand that mistakes happen, however, I mentioned that I did not want Mayo on my sushi (it comes with mayo). The lady brought the sushi and it had mayo. I mentioned to her that I did not eat mayo and she said that I had to eat it, no modifications? What really? I love the restaurant. The sushi is refresh and testy. I used to go "Goma"(unfortunately closed for good) sushi when I lived in Vancouver, but it has became "Go to sushi" place on Fridays since I move to Richmond from Vancouver. Some week we go there twice because the sushi is so good. I personally like shopped scallop and Ikura nigiri. My wife loves Dragon roll there. read more
