Re: ICON EYE CARE Superb physicians; shockingly inadequate administrative staff Prior to choosing ICON I had exams and interviewed a total of 4 cataract surgeons. I was immediately impressed with Dr Weiss. My reasons: His training, experience, demeanor, clarity of thought and his communication skills. He proved to be a superb surgeon and I'm thrilled with the results. Sadly, I came very close to cancelling this procedure based upon ICON's poor administration. For your consideration I am an attorney who ran an office that employed approximately 150 individuals. 50 were lawyers, the remainder were professional and semi professional staff. My conclusion: It appears that ICON's administrative staff in general, are poorly trained and inadequately paid. I suspect both are based upon ICON not putting sufficient resources into this aspect of their business. As a result there was a constant lack of of effective communication and a constant flow of misinformation, confusion and frustration. HOWEVER My surgical experience was excellent. Dr Weiss did a great job! Additionally, my post surgical visit with Martin Seamus and my contact with a "Scheduler" named Sara was also excellent. read more

Dr. Weiss performed cataract surgery on my right eye on January 13th, 2026. Unlike the previous surgery on my left eye the week before, I noticed the prep was sloppy and rushed. I could feel everything Dr. Weiss was doing to my eye. I moaned and moved around, but was told to stop moving, because the movement was shaking the microscope. It was a very painful experience. Dr. Weiss did not stop to have more anesthesia administered, but kept saying, "I am almost finished, almost finished". One of the receptionists at the surgery center told me that Dr. Weiss does 23 surgeries in one day. I suppose he was in a hurry to get to the next one. When I was being taken out of the prep area at the end of the process, I mentioned to the nurse that I was in pain, and she said, "Take Advil, you will forget about it". I believe that Dr. Weiss broke the vow he took when he became a doctor of "First, do no harm". SHAME ON HIM. I confronted Dr. Weiss on 4 other occasions concerning the pain I suffered and was told that this had never happened before. At one point, he seemed to have forgotten about the incident, saying, "What happened in the surgery?" As if to say he didn't know what I was talking about. Dr. Weiss insisted that I have my eyes refracted about 2 and 1//2 weeks after my last surgery. Eye surgeons whom I have consulted say one should wait a month for refraction. The prescription was incorrect. I went back to see Dr. Martin about redoing the refraction. Dr. Martin is the OD in the Golden office. No effort was made to redo the refraction. Instead, he made a big effort to make sure the door to the exam room was closed and to speak in hushed tones. He immediately started saying that Dr. Weiss had given me the wrong corrective lenses (IOL) and that was causing my vision problems. I was also told I had developed a second cataract. Both Dr. Weiss and Martin told me I could get different IOLs/and/or Lasik to correct my vision, adding on more medical bills. (Again, when I consulted different eye surgeons, the advice was to do neither.) Dr. Martin advised me to see Dr. Kim, a different doctor in the practice, rather than return to his colleague, Dr. Weiss. He continued to say that he didn't like the way Icon Eye Care was being run and seemed to have little confidence in Dr. Weiss or anyone else, except Dr. Kim. I asked him why he continued to work there. He said, "Because of people like you". One wonders how many people like me have surgery done by Dr. Weiss. This practice is exactly that. A practice (I think they need a lot more practice) done by people with, it would appear, no other motive than to do as many surgeries and to make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible, and to badmouth their fellow workers. Their regard for patients is minimal. read more

I am so impressed. Having been to other facilities this is superior in every way. Amazing staff and impressive doctors. This exam was by far the most thorough I have had. The doctors were not rushed and took more care in explaining than I have had prior. I am scheduled for another appointment for a follow up procedure. My comfort level is a 10 on the 10 scale. read more

I was referred to Dr. Goldenhair by my eye surgeon. I had a severe injury resulting in multiple retina surgeries ... My surgeon said that while at some point I may need cataract surgery we should wait as long as possible. The referral was for follow-on care. When Dr. Goldenhair came into the room she immediately asked when I wanted to schedule a surgery. When I pushed back and told her what my surgeon had said she snapped at me saying that I'd totally wasted her time! I've since gone to Denver Eye Surgeons, who are incredibly professional and my new Dr has said that while I may need a cataract surgery at some point in the future that I don't need it now and that we should wait until I do. Bottom line --- Dr. Goldenhair wanted to cut on my eye immediately when it was, according to BOTH my retina surgeon and my new eye Dr NOT NECESSARY. Further, she was rude and unprofessional. I have a variety of medical conditions that unfortunately mean I see a lot of doctors, and I have NEVER had a medical professional treat me in such a grossly poor manner as Dr. Goldenhair. I have been a patient at Icon Eyecare golden office for the past 4 years. The staff is friendly and efficient. I have never waited for more than 5-10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Dr. Goldhair is knowledgeable and answers all questions. She does not recommend anything procedures unless absolutely necessary. On my appointment 11/15/2021, her eye tech, Cassidy, was courteous and knowledgeable. I would recommend this practice. read more

I love ICON Eyecare! I have been a patient of ICON for eye health and care since my first laser surgery about 25 years ago. The staff is so professional and helpful. I have had the best doctors at ICON over the years, but recently my favorite doctor is no longer there. But FEAR NOT! I can't even believe it, but my newest doctor is even a step above my most favorite eye doctors. Dr. Seamus Martin is so kind, he really takes the time to listen to my concerns and looks for innovative ways to help me. I have struggled with dry eye issues for many years. I have duct plugs and even tried different treatments like plasma drops. But Dr. Martin gave me a brand-new treatment of steroid drops which got rid of my dry eyes in two weeks. Let me say that again... no dry eyes in TWO WEEKS! He is a great doctor and I feel so blessed to be able to work with him! I have some other issues I need to address, and Dr. Martin is right there with me, brain churning, to find the best possible newest most innovative treatment available to me. Everyone I work with at ICON is great, but if you're lucky enough to book with Dr. Martin in Golden, do it! read more

The clinical director, Dr. Sunni Kovar, is hands-down the best optometrist I've ever had, and I've had several. I needed follow-up care for my toric implantable collamar lens (ICL), which is an alternative to LASIK for people like me who have thin corneas and astigmatism. I would have preferred to have an optometrist where I live in Boulder, but I called around and got questions like, "What's ICL?" So I realized I needed to leave the bubble. I stumbled upon a couple of highly positive reviews for Dr. Kovar, one saying she was very thorough and another going as far as saying she was worth the commute. I could not agree more with those reviewers. From the very start, Dr. Kovar has gone the extra mile time and time again from helping me get affordable preoperative eye drops to responding to several questions via e-mail the very same day, often within a few minutes. All told, this is a doctor who is very technical and personable; plus she knows how to communicate complex information in an accessible way you can easily understand. That said, I'll admit, I was initially suspicious of a chain like ICON. I tend to prefer smaller operations like mom and pop shops, but then I called and spoke to a number of ICON phone and e-mail reps like Jayda. Absolutely everyone is not only super nice but also super knowledgeable -- no one ever asks, "What's ICL?" The same goes for the entire Golden office team -- Tyler, Elliott, Devin, etc., all have been a pleasure to work with and have helped me achieve 20/20 vision on the verge of 20/15. Incompetent management and idiotic online appointment system. I made an appt online and specified to use text messaging for notifications. Promptly got a phone call instead of a text message. Then got a confirmation request email AND another phone call 2 weeks before my appt. Then 2 more emails with satisfaction surveys still days before I even came in. Then during my contact exam, didn't even get to see a Dr. The Dr sent a student intern to do my exam. The intern then filled out the wrong prescription form, which caused 800 Contacts to try and call Icon, who then told 800 Contacts I needed a "follow up exam" before my script could be used. This was the same day as my exam. Called Icon back, and they said the Dr had to "enter my prescription into my record" after which they would call me back. Place seems to be run by uncaring, incompetent doctors and management. The office staff was polite and friendly to be fair. Highly recommend staying away from this business. read more

The minute I walked into Rocky Mountain Opthalmology I felt at home. I was looking into LASIK, a little nervous & uncertain. The entire staff made me feel comfortable! We were very impressed with the staff and the professionalism shown us. Everything was great, until we checked out. They have a new policy that they tried to blame on insurance - if you want your prescription, you have to pay an extra $47!!! As if that was an option, especially since they don't deal in eyeglasses/contacts at all. This left a VERY bad taste in our mouths, and ruined what was a very nice experience. I was referred by a friend of mine to Dr Cuevos for botox. I would not have guessed that they offer botox because it's an opthamology clinic. The office is gorgeous and the staff are very courteous and professional. Dr Cuevos is amazing! I am so happy with the his work. The nurse held my hand because I was a little nervous, and it went quickly and really no pain at all. No bruising, perfect. I am very pleased. The one thing I was very impressed with was that when I asked if he thought I needed injections anywhere else, he was very honest and told me "no".
