Having lived in Boston for the past 10 years I have spent more than I'd like to admit coloring and cutting my hair. Naturally, I tried numerous salons on Newbury Street because surely that's where the "best of the best" are (and I could justify spending the money). WRONG. I had to try numerous salons on Newbury Street because my cut and color was always off - my highlights became ashy and my cut was an absolute mess....that is until I found Andrae. When I first met Andrae he was doing color at a salon on Newbury Street. He took the time to listen to what I liked and didn't like and asked me questions to make sure we were on the same page. He truly wanted to make sure I was satisfied with my color and said I could come back in at any time to fix anything if I needed to. Needless to say I cried when he was done coloring my hair and only went back to have it done again and again and again. It was the first time in YEARS that I not only had the color I was looking for, but one that also went with my complexion. Andrae is so incredibly talented when it comes to color - there is not an appointment that goes by where a colleague doesn't ask him a question related to color..and he always has an answer!! I have followed Andrae around now for the past 4 or so years, so this review is looooooong overdue. Andrae is the only person I will let color or cut my hair. I love going to Icon Salon - the service is amazing and I know I am in good hands when I am there. The entire staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. I have been getting my nails done with Rahel for almost three years - she is a perfectionist. Before I started seeing Rahel, I found that my regular polish would chip after only a few days, but Rahel's manicures last for well over a week. I would also recommend her gel manicures, which look flawless and fresh for several weeks. She is very conscious of nail health and does a wonderful job removing the gel polish gently to avoid damaging the nail. Her pedicures are also to die for - especially if you suffer from ingrown toenails! I have never found a pedicurist who is able to effectively deal with this problem, so finding Rahel was a life saver. She is very gentle, and I always feel relaxed and refreshed after seeing her. Rahel also recently started to do eye lash extensions as well - she can do it all! I also go to Icon to get my hair cut but Yvette. She is very meticulous, and I am always so happy with how my hair turns out. I have had my hair blown out and styled by Yvette for multiple events, and my hair held and stayed fresh looking not only for the whole evening, but the next day as well. I do not get my hair colored, but my friend recently went to Yvette for the first time for highlights - they turned out beautifully and my friend was very happy with the results. Today I walked into Icon at 2:30 without an appointment. I was greeted with a really sweet lady who instantly set me up with a very professional hairdresser named Amnon. When I met Amnon he was so nice! He took the time to listen to me talk about my concerns with my hair and the look I want to achieve. I even showed him pictures. He gave me a few options to choose from but he was quite confident in what would work best. I felt on the same page and I felt very safe in his hands. Then Amnon and another hairdresser took turns washing products /gloss in and out of my hair. I fell a sleep at one point. Amnon then trimmed and blew my hair dry. I looked so so beautiful! I almost cried! I couldn't stop smiling the rest of the day. When my husband got home he wouldn't stop telling me how beautiful I was. Which of course I loved! I had a wonderful experience at Icon everyone was so nice and always asking if they could help me or if I was comfortable. This place is a must!!! read more

I've been going to Icon for two+ years, after finding a number of Newbury st hair stylists right here in Newton Center!!! Not only has that made it so much easier for me to get gorgeous style where I live, but it has enabled me to bring my teenage kids here too, which is fantastic. I go to Tatiana for all of us and she is a complete rock star!!! She does my cuts and color and two years ago I needed major change and chopped a ton off. Then I went lighter. Then balayage, partial, then full. Woah!!! Now I'm growing my hair out and people ask me where I get it done, aka the best compliment for a salon/stylist!! My daughter's long blond hair gets the balayage treatment too, though hers is more sublime and my son gets regular stylish haircuts. Went in for a Blowout and cut With Tatiana and she was amazing!!! I had the best experience there. They treated me so great. Was offered refreshments right off the bat. Had an amazing scalp massage during my hair being washed. Tatiana then magically made my hair so voluminous and shiny. She was so great with making me feel at ease in the chair and I felt like I was at one of my friends houses hanging out. Reasonably priced for getting treated like a queen if I do say so myself. I was getting compliments from everyone at work and my friends. The blowout lasted me much longer than a normal blowout does! I was so psyched about that haha. I will definitely recommend Tatiana to everyone I know because she is a hair genius and is so amazing at her craft! Sasha is an amazing colorist. My hair is thick, coarse and extremely difficult to color. After trying many colorists around Boston and after countless mistakes, I met Sasha. At my first visit, I warned her that my hair turns colors other than what was described on the tube. Sasha was unfazed and corrected my color, perfectly! That was over eight years ago. Sasha is a professional at her craft and a perfectionist. I have experienced some hairdressers who take their "usual's" for granted and slip up periodically (every one is entitled to have a bad day). But Sasha is never like that. Each visit she assesses my hair and makes necessary adjustments. She is never rushed, easy going (i.e. no drama), thinks about what is best for me and makes suggestions. I started going to Icon Salon to follow stylist Yvette. I cannot imagine going to another salon or to another hair stylist. The space is modern, beautiful, clean, and accommodating. Everyone is friendly and you feel amazing from the second you enter, to the second you leave. Now about Yvette. She is a true master of hair. She treats every client like they are NUMBER 1 and makes sure you leave satisfied. She stops at nothing to guarantee your hair is exactly what you wanted. She takes the time to talk to you about what you want and then masters it to perfection. Yvette has done a one process, foil highlights, double process, ombre, and balayage all on my hair...she PERFECTS what you want each time and I only trust her with my hair! Renee is an incredibly talented colorist. I was desperately in need of a color correction. Over time my last colorist from Newbury Street had taken me from a light brown with gold highlights to a cheap looking brassy blonde and then, in trying to correct it, she gave me a "helmut" of dark brown hair. I didn't think it was fixable. My hair felt so damaged. Renee listened closely, evaluated the problem and in 2 visits had me back to my natural looking highlights. My hair felt healthy and nourished and it looked just the way I wanted. She is very intelligent, intuitive and patient. Perhaps most important, she listens to her clients and works very hard to achieve the look you ask for. I highly recommend her. read more

She has an exceptional eye for color and truly is an artist who creates art with hair and does it with love and care. I have been going to see Kiki for my hair for over 12 years. I have followed her throughout her career and will never trust anyone else with my hair. Icon salon is so pampering and professional. They have the best service and the front desk staff is so attentive and helpful. My favorite hairdresser is Amnon. He has magical hands and every time I go there, I'm so happy and satisfied with the results. It takes him just a few minutes to cut and style my hair and make me feel glamorous. The hair color is simply amazing and when they wash it off, they really take time and effort to make you feel like there's no other person waiting and massage your scalp so well. My experiences at Icon Salon have been nothing but amazing. Everybody is extremely welcoming and the salon is itself is invitingly modern. Yvette is a true artist (as can be seen in my photos). The colors she achieved are absolutely beautiful. I've had my hair lightened several times, yet never got such a crisp clean platinum! One of the best kept secrets is hidden in Icon Studio and her name is Rahel. When it comes to pedicures (in particular!) and manicures, no one is as excellent, professional, kind and caring as she is. She offers each client highly personalized service.I call her "Dr. Rahel" because she has done more for me than any podiatrist ever has. She a a patient, accommodating and wonderful perfectionist (in all the best senses of that word). I cannot recommend Rahel highly enough. Icon is one of the best kept secrets:) Fabulous location in Newton Centre (easy parking in the municipal lot 100 feet away or an easy way from the Riverside Green Line). And the owner Marco is a seasoned professional who hires experts in the field and keeps them current. Even thought the services are state of the art, the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming (not uptight and condescending like so many good hair salons in the Boston area). I went to Icon as I knew Marco from I Soci Salon in Boston and had been extremely happy with the services at that salon. Marco suggested Kiki and I have had the best experience since I left Boston's Newbury street hair salons. I've been to several salons In Newton and Icon Salon is the best hair salon in town. It is chic without feeling pretentious and has fantastic customer service. My hairstylist, Tatiana, is talented and skillful, and always gives me a great haircut (I always get showered with compliments afterward). Tatiana is such a talented stylist! She has a natural sense of what will be attractive on you, both for color and cut. The color has richness and depth, while looking totally natural. The cut (I have long hair) was expertly done, with gorgeous layers. Tatiana also does a great blow dry. I have gotten tons of compliments!
