I have been a customer of this dosa restaurant since it opened, but unfortunately the quality has declined significantly compared to what it used to be. I don't normally write reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share my feedback. The dosas no longer have the same taste or freshness, and the overall food quality seems to have gone downhill. What was once a place known for flavorful and authentic food now feels inconsistent and underwhelming. The biggest issue was with a recent takeout order. We had an order of 5 dosas, and all of them came with the same portion size of sambar. The quantity of sambar provided was nearly 50% less than what I had typically received in the past. When I called the store, the manager explained that the standard serving size is 4 oz. However, the container I received contained less than 2.5 oz. Rather than addressing the discrepancy, the response was essentially, "If you want extra, I can give you extra." My concern is not about receiving additional food, it's about getting the portion that is supposed to be included with the order. As prices continue to rise, customers reasonably expect consistency in both quality and quantity. Our friends had told us about this place a few months back but it used to have shorter hours at the time we couldn't try it out but now that they changed their timings it's become more convenient. Very authentic and delicious food. Located in a convenient place with lots of Costco parking. It does get quite crowded on the weekends. It is a lowkey self service place. This is one of our primary go-to dosa spots in the area when it's too much of a hassle to drive to the South Bay. The dosa menu is quite extensive with some special fillings and flavors, so there's something for everyone! Our go-to's are pretty standard: masala dosas, plain dosas, punugulu and mini idlis. All are solid dishes. The main that that could be improved is the ambiance, which I think most Indian restaurants seem to lack. A little paint and decor can go a long way. Also, investing in stronger ventilation is always a good idea. If you can put the ambiance aside, check out ID Cafe for some good eats. It was interestingly flavorful, not too greasy/ heavy and had a perfect balance of spices. It had podi. Sambar and all chutneys were yum! Definitely the star of the show. But sambar was too less in quantity, come on it was the same size as the other 3 chutneys! Please note, they charge $1 per dosa box for takeout. Well, the dosa was packed really nicely. The box is so well done. The dosas didn't become soggy and a quick reheat on the tava made it better as they suggested. I also ordered the Mysore masala dosa with the masala on the side, but the chef messed up and put the bhaji inside despite the clear instructions. The masala itself was poorly made and tasted awful. They are the perfect receptacles for the delicious dipping sauces that they have here. Honestly, the sauces are the star of the show here. I also tried the Tikka Masala Fries here, they were alright. Just imagine some fries with some thick curry sauce on them. They gave their godlike dipping sauces with the fries as well, which made them a lot better. Service is actually very good here. When I couldn't finish my food, I asked the guy for a to-go box and a bag and he was very kind about it. The venue is alright, ambiance is bustling since it's in the New Park mall. The staff were nice but not too much interaction since they stay behind the counter and just take your order. The restaurant itself is simple and just some tables and chairs, it's not the best ambiance itself but it's ok it feels more like fast food in a sense. You clean your table yourself and suppose of the paper plates and put your tray on the trash console. There's self serve water. 4.5 stars You're coming here for the specialty dosas and South Indian fusion. This restaurant has a canteen feel with a decent amount of seating as turnover felt quick. Unfortunately, when we arrived around 12:30 Sunday, they were out of idli. I asked if they would be remaking any or if they were out for the day, and they said they would return in ~50 minutes. Spoiler alert: they ran out of food and completely sold out within the hour and did not serve any more idli for the lunch service. However, what we did have was excellent. We were told the wait would be 20-25 minutes but we got food well within 10 minutes. The dosas were crisp. The sambhar was spicy (but not overly so) and had a nice variety of vegetables. The chutneys (peanut and cilantro coconut) were flavorful and not watery. Our group shared plain dosa, masala dosa, malai paneer dosa (the top favorite), and chicken dosa, as well as plain vada (3 pieces served with a small side of sambhar) and sambhar vada (2 pieces served directly dunked in a large bowl of sambhar). We appreciated how the specialty dosas were cut into pieces for sharability. Everyone in the group (2 South Indians) found the dosas and sambhar to be some of the best in the area, with huge praise in particular for the sambhar. Will definitely be back especially for the idli dishes. I did glimpse one order (maybe the last order of the day) of idli which looked soo fluffy.
