Most items were vegetarian, with a few vegan options so it was perfect for us. The ambiance was clean, updated, and lively, with friendly servers. We ordered to share: - Pakoda set with tea (one of the monthly specials, a nice assortment of fried goodies with choice of soda or tea--I got the hot chai) - Kadhai paneer tikka masala (had bell peppers and onions) - saag paneer (a must-order for us) - Rajmah (kidney beans curry) - garlic naan (came to the table piping hot and fresh, so good) - roti (had a nice chew) Everything was delicious, and just enough off the beaten path (for us) to make it interesting. It had been a while since my last visit to this location, so I was genuinely excited to come back and it did not disappoint. I ordered my usual favorites along with their April special, Dhaba Style Paneer Gravy paired with Rosemary Garlic Naan. The paneer dish was rich and flavorful, but the real standout was the Rosemary Garlic Naan. It was absolutely incredible perfectly aromatic, soft with just the right crisp, and it elevated every bite of the meal. Honestly, I'd come back just for that naan alone. Service was equally impressive. Jatinder went above and beyond consistently checking on our table, offering water and refills without us even having to ask. That level of attentiveness really made the experience feel welcoming and effortless. Overall, a fantastic visit. Great food, excellent service, and that Rosemary Garlic Naan is a must-try. Today I want to emphasize that when it comes for value for money, Gary Singh has done a phenomenal job to make great home made vegetarian food accessible and affordable. 2. All served with lot of compassion, kindness and empathy which is reflected and each and every staff member of chaat bhavan. 3. Find me a place that serves House Thali with Chaas, Papad and Daal 4. Also if u ever ask for extra raita or say u really liked a vegetable and request one more katori, their servers are the most gracious always. 5. Service was very slow despite the restaurant not being too crowded, and the waiters were just talking to each other instead of even giving us the menu first thing. I got the house thali, as well as methi chaman paneer with pesto naan (a monthly special). The pesto naan was pretty good but the paneer which gave me high expectations let me down due to the small paneer pieces. Thali was decent as well. We've been coming to Chaat Bhavan for many years and have relied on it for everything from casual meals to family celebrations. Unfortunately, over the past few years, it feels like the restaurant has lost some of the authenticity and quality that made it special. The food is not as consistent as it once was, and the service has become noticeably less friendly and attentive. We still have great memories here, which makes this decline especially disappointing. Tried and tested for consistent and flavorful vegetarian Indian food. This time, we got the vada pav, chole bhature, sabudana vada accompanied by chutneys and sweet yogurt, and the Ambala signature sandwich which had 4 slices of bread with spicy veggies, corn, paneer, and topped with melted cheese and bell pepper. Everyone enjoyed their food. While the sabudana vada could have been better, all the other dishes were on point. Service is friendly and quick. This is my usual spot to Doordash from if I am looking for North Indian Vegetarian food. (kind of like comfort meal) I have been to the restaurant a few times and it has ample seating and nice ambience. As per food, I usually order a subset of these: Chhole: this is usually my go-to order Kofta: this is good here Daal Makhni: decent Amritsari Saag Paneer: decent Peshawari Chana: this is extremely spicy. Tawa Pulao: Sometimes, the rice is burnt and dry. You can tell it is not the freshest of the lot. Taste is good, a tad bit spicy. Naan: decent Overall, they are still good, and one of my go-to North Indian restaurants but have had issues with some of the items recently, which could be improved. read more

May 29 2026- Ordered Vegetable Biryani, Toor Daal and Garden Vegetable. All three dishes had been sprayed with Febreze or Food containers washed with Dawn Dishwashing liquid, and not thoroughly double rinsed in hot water. Food tasted like very strange vile spicy soapy melange, I garbaged two thirds of this $42 order. This was a test run of this establishment for up coming upcoming events in my community. Not coming back here. Typical of restaurant industry, once restaurants becomes a chain they forget to pay attention to food preparation. I have worked in food industry; This kind of practice calls for restaurant to be closed in order retrain cook, dishwashers and serve staff. Care need to be taken when food is made at home or at restaurants. Food should not taste or smell like dishwashing soap or Febreze. read more

We are pretty regular customers. This time we ordered our usual Dahi batata sev poori as a starter. It was already eaten before I could take a picture. Then we ordered hara barra parantha, poori and garlic naan with Dal Makhni and Bhaigan Bartha. We also ordered Panner sizzler. Dal makhni was so delicious. A must have every time you dine here. It sounds like it's just a dal but it isn't. It is slow cooked, creamy and buttery. Everything else was very good too. Extra stars for this Panner Tikka. Soft, sizzling and with right amount of spices. Customer service was great too. They do a pretty good job as this is one of busiest Indian vegetarian restaurant in Fremont. Try to go there before the dinner rush on the weekends otherwise you might have to wait like 30-45 mins. read more

The best thing about this place is consistency - Whether you eat at the restaurant, takeout or order catering. Food tastes the same everytime. Catering orders are efficient and ready for pickup on time. They have a regular menu and some seasonal menu items too. I like their palak paneer and malai kofta, and the paranthas. Not my first time here--I actually order takeout from this spot pretty often, so clearly I like their food. This visit, though, the service really missed the mark. We went around 5:30-5:40, so it wasn't rush hour (most tables were empty). We asked for water--server forgot, and we had to ask again. We requested extra bowls--they never arrived. Small things, but they added up and made it a less-than-great experience for the group. Food-wise, they still delivered. We had Chana Bhatura, Churchur Parontha with Dal Makhni, and Amritsari Kulcha--everything was delicious. Also tried the masala soda, but it was way too sugary for my taste. Me and my husband and I were here to have an early dinner. We were seated without any wait and the menu was given to us so we decided what to order. The server came and we ordered two coffees, one chaas that we shared, puri bhaji and Amritsar kulcha and chole. We also ordered golgappa and to our surprise it comes with three shot glasses full of different liquids that you pour in the golgappa and eat and there were only 3 that were served, what should one do with the remaining liquid? That was not worth the price they charged for. The kulcha was not great either in taste, felt like having a pita bread with chole inside in it. The food is very good and maybe slightly better than some of their other branches. What I really liked was the amazing service provided by the staff. Attentive, polite, and very courteous. This restaurant also has a wash basin outside the bathrooms which is very convenient at Indian restaurants where quite a few dishes are best eaten with your hand. Vegan items are clearly labelled on the menu (at all branches) and the thalis and combos are a great value. read more

We love going here as it's a nice place to sit, food is good and has all the options. I like they have seasonal menu and usually very innovative. Parking can be tricky with smaller spaces. We got the chaat platter, with Dahi papdi and paani puri with chaaj. Everything was flavorfull. The paani for gol gape was pretty good. And for mains, we always get kashmiri dum aloo and spinach puri. The puri was perfect but sadly in dum aloo they have started putting cheese instead of paneer on top. We also got methi mulli roti with saag. It was delicious and perfect winter meal. read more

Terrible Experience - Avoid This Place for Indian Food I rarely leave such bad reviews, but this place deserves a serious warning. I ordered several items and every single one was a disaster. * Dabeli didn't even remotely taste like dabeli. It was literally just pav with some bland aloo curry thrown in. No authentic flavor, no crunch, nothing. Being from the place from where dabeli is originated i know how it should taste but this was worst. * Paneer Chilly, which is supposed to be an Indo-Chinese dish, was made with gochujang paste (why?!). The flavor was off, weirdly sweet and spicy in the worst way possible. * Dahi Papdi Chaat came with yogurt so sour it was inedible. Completely ruined the dish. I called to complain and was told no refund, just a "free next order." Why on earth would I ever order from here again? Absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. If you're craving Indian food, look elsewhere. This place clearly has no idea what they're doing. read more

The last few times we've dined here, we somehow always had Jatinder as our server - and that's a great thing! He actually listened to our special requests for kids food and other preferences and made sure stuff came out correctly. Historical I had issues after eating food here. We visited the restaurant to give it a try after a long time. We had mixed experience. We tried Thali and saag makki roti. Saag was really good but thali was not good. I had severe gas issue after eating thali. I have no idea what they do with food here. Service was great and ambience was good.
