IMHO best Bay Area Pani puri (maybe Viks chat in Berkeley close one too)...other items are okayish. Have seen them start in Fremont grocery store "Dana Bazaar", I think mom-daughter duo in a corner serving daily grocery shoppers. Now they have been running their own eatery for decades in Newark/Ardenwood. A very casual ambience, self service types and tucked in corner of a quaint strip mall..plenty of parking and they take last order at 7.30 pm before closing out at 8pm. Call ahead and place order if you are running late ...we had to do that once. Definitely worth trying if you are craving that tasty and quality Pani puri (Gol Guppe), tad pricey compared to other places. We went there because of recommendation from someone that the pani puri are a must taste for authentic delhi taste. But we were totally disapponted with the dishes. Awesome find! The Best Chaat place in the Bay by far. Authentic tastes, customized to taste. Found it better than the 'namesake' chain. Went there just to have pani puri and this taste was a pure bliss. Seems to be a family owned restaurant and the owner seems very nice. The pani puri is served live in the restaurant and with an option to make it spicy or sweet depending on preference. The service was prompt. It's a small simple restaurant clean. Was in the area craving some pani puri and found this venue via Yelp search. Glad I did. It's a no frills quick, counter ordering venue that seems to be known for this Indian street snack and a few other dishes. I chose the regular pani puri and a mango lassi. You can choose self-service, to make the pani puri yourself, or to stand and "eat at the counter" where they will make it for you one by one, as you imbibe them - just like if you would be getting them at a street hawker. Another hidden gem and the reviews speak for themselves. They were the OG pani puri stall from almost 15 years ago. They were in dana bazar or new India bazar on mowry. Then suddenly they disappeared and started this place. Also we had a rip van winkle moment and woke up after 15 years to know about this place. So they actually didn't disappear but we didn't look hard where they went. Anyway finding them back was an happy moment and we went to try the place. We were not disappointed. It's a small place run by the same ladies but they have grown older but the spirit remains. They still serve pain puri by the counter and thats how it should be. They can serve unto 5 or 6 at a time. This is a small Indian chaat cafe. I have tried variety of chaat items here. This is self serve business. There is live panipuri stall which I love. My most favourite things here are choley Bhature and Sarson ka saag with makki do roti. Their Samosa and tiki choley are also very popular. Hubby and I had the live pani puri here. The water is really flavourful and packed with a punch. But we felt 9.99$ for just 6 poori's is pricy for this dish. We also got the pav bhaji. Pav was crispy (would have liked it softer) the bhaji was good and filled with butter. By far the best chaat I've had in South Bay. We have been coming here for the past 15 years. We used to go to their corner in New India Bazaar, but once it stopped, we started going here. Pro-tip is to tell them your traveling with it and they will package everything separately and then you can mix it at home. Horrible! They take only cash. Won't give you receipts. Pani puri is a whopping $9. That's 6 puris for $9! Two of the puris were broken. The taste was strictly meh. Alright so they make you order and pay upfront. So we had ordered a few more items. So we got our Raj Kachori. Had cold potato and a bad mix of chutneys. There was no water jugs or taps anywhere.
