We recently hired Sakoon for a private event with approximately 60 guests(adults). Also we clearly gave a separate head count for kids as well. During the planning process, we clearly communicated our headcount and were assured that enough food would be provided to comfortably serve everyone , ensuring there would be no shortages. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. Several dishes ran short, and one of the appetizers, the chili paneer, was of extremely poor quality and was difficult to chew. Many guests commented on the condition of the food. What was even more disappointing was how the situation was handled. When my husband called to request additional food because the portions provided were significantly less than what had been promised, one of the owners unexpectedly arrived at our private event without prior notice. He proceeded to count attendees to verify our guest count, which was both inappropriate and disruptive. We felt this was an unacceptable intrusion into a private event. To make matters worse, extra appetizers that had been ordered were removed rather than replenished, and servers were reportedly instructed not to refill trays. During the event, we were also pressured to make immediate payment and were told that lunch service would not continue unless payment was made on the spot. This created unnecessary stress and embarrassment during what should have been a special occasion. And while carrying empty dishes with him on his way back, he hided the left over appetizers underneath them and took it back to the restaurant. Overall, the food quality, portion management, professionalism, and customer service fell far below expectations. Based on our experience, I would not recommend their catering for any private events. Recently I went to have lunch at Sakoon. They have buffet for lunch. From where do I start... I started lunch with appetizers. They had a variety of veg and nonveg appetizers but each and every item was dry and stale. Nit even single item tasted freshly cooked. Then I tried main lunch dishes, and boom it tasted left overs from many days old. I have no words to express my disappointment from every food item. 0 (Zero) star may be too high for this restaurant. At last I tried deserts they had kheer, carrot halwa. Rice kheer was like they had added left over rice in milk...Yukk taste Carrot halwa was over cooked, oily and too sweet. Last item...chai (tea) horrible taste couldn't drink more than just one sip. Overall rating... very very very very bad food. I am not recommending to visit this restaurant! read more

We recently visited Shakkon for their buffet with my wife, our 11-year-old daughter, and our 4-year-old son. We were charged $72 for the meal. Overall, the food was okay, but we felt that the variety and quality of the food did not fully justify the price. The service was another area that could use improvement. The staff could have been more professional, attentive, and welcoming toward customers. We were initially told that we would also be charged for our 4-year-old son, even though he did not eat anything. After we explained this to the staff, they understood and did not charge us for him, which we appreciated. Overall, our experience was average. The food was acceptable, but considering the price and the level of service, we expected a better overall experience. read more

FOOD // MOST disgusting Indian buffet I have ever had in my life. Everything was extremely salty so much so everything tasted the same no matter what you took a scoop of. NO DOSA INCLUDED WITH THE BUFFET (I asked one of the servers.). Lots of selections, however. Limited desserts. No fruit. Naan does taste homemade. Not extremely oily. Extremely dry and not very chewy--disappointing. Goat dry. Per others, poultry was reasonable and not dry to a bone. AMBIENCE // Pretty much large tables for workers in the area that come eat. SERVICE // - not attentive - does not care AT ALL - nonexistent: you may wait at the door for a long time while servers are standing there since you have to wait to be seated - brings out plain naan; no other options allowed - pours water - slow to remove used plates LOCATION // Directly across from Olive Garden. Lucky supermarket plaza. Kind of a ghost town of a plaza in my book. Lots of free somewhat reasonably spaced parking. OVERALL // First Indian buffet in my life that everyone in my party had a funny feeling in the stomach status post consuming at this establishment. Everything tasted exactly the same. I appreciate the variety in the fried foods. I appreciate the rice was well cooked. The food quality was poor and not delivered in hot boxes, leaving items cold and unappetizing. Pakoras tasted stale, the dahi bhalla was frozen and inedible, and the so-called tava vegetable dish was nothing more than tasteless frozen vegetables and potatoes, lacking the fresh preparation expected. Even the avocado jalmuri appetizer, which was delicious, was provided in such a small quantity that it was only enough for about half the guests. Service was equally unacceptable. The food was delivered by someone without authority or communication skills, and when I tried to address issues with the manager, Diya, I was met with anger and frustration. I reached out to Balkar, the owner, whom I have known for over 20 years and worked with on larger events, but instead of resolving the situation, he threatened me over payment. He refused to accept credit card payment over the phone and demanded cash, showing no regard for long-term customers. It is clear from my experience and from other recent reviews that the Fremont Indian community has had enough of this outfit's disrespectful attitude, poor food quality, and questionable practices. The insistence on cash payments raises serious concerns about transparency and compliance, and I believe this warrants investigation. This place is GREAT! I loved it! The staff were VERY nice, super friendly. Very clean and fancy inside! The food, every item was fantastic! To be honest, I don't know what my wife ordered or what it was called, but it was really good and I ordered the chicken tiki masala and we had garlic naan bread. Listen.... I just wanted to give Diya and her team a special thank you for organizing our kids' graduation party so beautifully last Saturday (8/1). The food was absolutely delicious, and all of our guests loved it. I especially want to thank her for personally looking into the food allergies. This seriously has got to be the worst buffet. I have eaten in a really long time. The food must have been very stale. It just looked like it was dumped in there even that avocado started did not really have any avocado. It had more mashed potato. The chicken Dahaba and egg biryani definitely looked stale. Even after four hours we still have heartburn also the floors in this place need some serious washing or something. They were absolutely sticky and slippery. read more

Came for their lunch buffet on a Sunday. Lots of variety for both meat lovers and vegetarians. There was typical tandoori chicken, goat, butter chicken and several vegetarian option. Food was hot and constantly refilled. Hot fresh butter naan brought to the table. Hot self serve chai and this day thru also had rose lassi! Service was attentive and plates cleared quickly. My husband and I catered food from Sakoon for our wedding day and all our guests were raving about it! They loved the lychee halwa, gulab jamun, chaats and the lemon fish tikka! We didn't have anything but we deeply appreciated working with Dia! She was flexible, patient, communicative and extremely helpful! My husband (then fiancé) and sincerely I appreciated all her tips and recommendations...hats off to Dia for everything! The crowd loved the food so much and we enjoyed tasting it and meeting you! And Balkar was also very flexible with the golden cutlery that went with our decor. He got it ordered and delivered right on time. Working with both of them was the best part in our wedding journey! On the wedding day, Norma was in charge of the staff and she and the team did an amazing job with leaving the kitchen in the same condition it was found in! This is our go to take out. Always absolutely delicious. Only complaint could be not enough chicken in the butter chicken dish and it's not cheap, doesn't include rice. However the flavor is ALWAYS on point, happy to pay. Just wish there was a little more meat. Its been six years since my last review of this place and I thought maybe we should give it a try again. It's as bad as ever! We were seated after a fifteen minute wait and not sure if there are any servers at all in the place. After another long 15 minutes I walked over to the bar and asked if anyone can take our orders. The lady and two guys who were busy chatting and laughing said "sure" and continued to chat and laugh. Took another 10 minutes and we were already closer to 915pm and the place was beginning to empty out. Food? Average or below. Looks like their main source of income is at the attached venue for wedding and other parties. So they do not seem to care about patrons to the restaurant. Celebrating a friend's birthday we decided to grab dinner at Sakoon (wasnt the first time , though it was after a long time that we had made it to Sakoon) in Fremont. Alex greeted us with a cheerful smile and got us to our table. We ordered a variety of dishes, including Dal Tarka, Paneer Butter Masala, Chana Pindi, along with Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti. The Dal Tarka was comforting and well-seasoned, with just the right balance of spices, making it a perfect start to our meal. The Paneer Butter Masala was rich and creamy, with soft paneer cubes that melted in our mouths. The Chana Pindi had a wonderful, earthy flavor, with perfectly cooked chickpeas in a spiced sauce that paired beautifully with the naan and roti. The Garlic Naan was fresh, warm, and fragrant with garlic, while the Tandoori Roti had that classic smoky flavor we all love. As the night went on, we ended up staying later than planned, but Alex, the manager, went above and beyond to make our experience special. I came here with a friend and ordered a couple of dishes along with drinks. The food was horrible and tasted like it had just been taken out of the microwave and served. The Old Fashioned tasted more like sweet syrup than an actual cocktail. I dunno... the more we go here, the less excited I am about it... the butter chicken is *really* disappointing; frankly, it tastes like Tomato Bisque, a French dish made with tomatoes and cream... no real butter taste or texture... and I've learned not to dive into the naan at all; my favorite trick at other Indian buffets (when there were more to choose from), was for my second serving, to get a dish of butter sauce and dip naan in it, but the naan here really bloats me, and I end up feeling ill afterwards... nothing actually wrong with the naan (which tastes Wonderful), but I just can't stomach it... I am so disappointed w my Diwali Buffet experience. The food wasnt ready until 12.15 when the restaurant opens at 12, half of the items were cold / lukewarm. The manager was clueless and had no idea when some of items will be filled. No one to collect plates. While paying, when I was giving feedback, the manager didn't even look up or acknowledge which makes me very sad. He just took the money and moved on to the next customer. Sakoon has an excellent Lunch Buffet! It's been my favorite for a couple of years. Consistently great. Friendly staff, Chai included. Nice décor inside. All the chicken dishes are delicious. Goat curry is fantastic. The yellow Dal is really good. For dinner I have also tried the Tomato Fennel soup, and it was also great. The price is not expensive, the variety of dishes is great, and the quality of the food is great. read more

Went here for a lunch buffet on a weekday after about 4-5 years. Nothing has changed since my first time here. Food was pretty average & greasy. Taste was OK. I didn't pay for lunch as it was company sponsored lunch so I don't know how much it was priced at but if it was anything over 10$ then it wasn't worth the money. The reception staff isn't friendly and need to start smiling. They are nothing like the Mountain View branch, but I have only been there for dinner and not lunch buffet. Won't visit them again unless it's for sponsored company lunches ;-) read more
