Hailey tells me they should have collected the money up front but for whatever reason they only collected fees for one pair of glasses when I brought them in. The first frames came back in about 4 weeks and when I asked about the sunglasses I was told it would be another 2 weeks. When I went in to pick them up, I had to remind her I needed to pay or she wouldn't even have collected the money. This is all very suspicious. We had already been to two other places in town to purchase eye glasses from and walked out. Maybe it's because of our age, we just expect better customer service and as we've experienced lately, it's just not there anymore. The front desk greeting was fair to Midland. It felt like they were bothered that we showed up. We were told to look around at all of the frames and someone would be with us shortly. As we perused the displays, they really don't list the prices on their frames, just code numbers. We finally found a couple of frames and then we were greeted by their sales representative. Then here comes the craziness. To get all of the additional options for your eyeglasses, my cost was $990 for one single pair of glasses. Insurance did its job in getting me these glasses for free, but seriously folks, $990 for glasses? I bought a no nonsense pair of frames. They weren't even a famous brand name I recognized and they were $320. That just crazy, it's just plastic. Well, we were finally done. Now the bad news. It's going to take them 3 weeks to get my glasses made and sent to the store. That's way too long. Everywhere I've ever shopped in the past for eyewear has only taken them about 1 week to turnaround and get them back to me. 3 weeks is way too long to wait for eye glasses in my humble opinion. I'm on the fence here. This was our third stop for eye glasses. We almost walked here too, but we caved in and just wanted the madness to stop. We just wanted eyeglasses, nothing more, nothing less. I really can't recommend this facility. I wasn't really impressed at all with their service team or their selection of eyewear. They only seemed to carry overpriced name brand frames. And don't think you are going to find something really splashy or something trendy with a lot of color here. This was all middle of the road boring frames. Just because we get older doesn't mean we don't appreciate style and color. Parking was easy, this shop is in a medical building on the first floor. Get your wallet out, this place is very expensive if you don't have great insurance coverage!

I had taken them to another eye care office in Meridian after they lost a screw. Unfortunately, they installed the wrong screw and never mentioned that they didn't have the correct replacement. When I put my sunglasses back on, they fit completely wonky! I was mortified. Needless to say, I immediately canceled my appointment with that office and scheduled one with Family Eye Care instead. Thankfully, they were able to fix my sunglasses properly, and I couldn't be happier. They say things happen for a reason, and in this case, it led me to finding an office that I genuinely enjoyed. Family Eye Care was clean, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing both inside and out. The landscaping was beautifully maintained, and I especially loved the indoor fireplace. It wasn't on during my visit, but it's a lovely touch that I'm sure feels extra cozy during Idaho's cold winter months. Dr. Kendon took great care of me and took the time to explain the value of an eye test I was initially hesitant about. I appreciated that he educated me on why it was important rather than simply recommending it. They also have a great selection of eyewear with plenty of options to choose from. Said no thank you as my former optometrist always does it and there are no problems. When Dr. Nielson saw I had a floater she sent me back to the technician for a retinal screening. She also assumed I had eye mites because of a little crusty flake in my lashes. Wanted me to get a prescription that cost $623.00. No thanks, use Tea Tree oil preparation, $30.00. To top everything off, when I picked up glasses the left eye correction was so bad I could not focus on anything. Was told to wear them continuously starting the next day for a week. I did that and it helped somewhat, but could not read through lower correction. I did not go back to have the lenses checked as I did not have that much invested. Year-old glasses are just fine.
