We have done their JSCs for both of my kids this summer and have now signed up for weekly lessons. My daughter literally screamed and cried at the last place we were at and here she has had 0 tears! The water is warm so my kids are not shivering during lessons. The instructors are great and keep the kids on task and focused on the skills there are working on. I have noticed that sometimes they have a second (floater) teacher that goes to each lane and helps out as a second teacher for a few minutes and then move on to another class. At the end of each class teachers give you a little summary of how your child did. Sometimes the kids even earn ribbons for accomplishing different goals, which my kids absolutely love. I think it's a great motivator for them as well. The facility has some great added touches with amenities like an area with blow dryers, showers with soap in the pool area. It's well kept and clean. My kids are growing and becoming more confident and comfortable in the water. I could not be happier here!

At her first makeup class, Saylor was so scared, she was crying hysterically and refused to get in the water. Eleanor, who I believe is one of the managers, knows Saylor from seeing her, and jumped right in to save the day! Eleanor went above and beyond to make sure Saylor was comfortable, and by the end of the first makeup class, Saylor was thriving! At our next makeup class, Eleanor had Saylor's favorite toys waiting for her, and Saylor loved that, and had no tears, and was ready to swim! I just wanted to say, we have loved everyone we have worked with at Goldfish St Charles, and we definitely appreciate Eleanor going above and beyond!

Last year, I decided it would be good to start running. I hate running, so I needed somewhere good…read moreto go on colder days when I didn't feel like running in the streets. One of my friends told me to check this place out, which was only a couple miles away from me. She loved their classes (she did Yoga, Pilates, and some kind of ab class) and thought I'd benefit from their facilities, especially the track. Although the Centre has a membership fee for the machines & classes, I was able to use the track for free since I was a resident (at the time). That was all I needed. I loved it! The track was clean and never too crowded. I don't think a lot of people realized what a gem this place was. I went at different times during the day and enjoyed running quietly by myself or alongside my husband (he came with me a couple times). Lockers are also available next to the track with keys. I also walked around the Centre and saw two nice pools, climbing wall, new & clean machines, and several rooms for classes. The only downside is that the parking garage is kind of narrow and you have to watch out for cars coming around the corner. It's hard to find parking sometimes, but at least the garage is attached to some kind of indoor bridge over the street so you don't have to walk across the street. I also came here once for some kind of green festival and really enjoyed all the displays, booths, taste samples, art, and petting zoo! Many parts of Elgin are really run-down but this is one part of Elgin that shines. If it wasn't for the Centre (and the library nearby), I wouldn't have been complete.

In the end, the school cancelled the time slot my daughter was in and with no notice, the only teacher that was teaching in a way that I began to see progression, was no longer with Goldfish. :/ I still think the facility is nice, but I've taken a star away, b/c, at least for independent toddlers, I personally wasn't crazy about the revolving teachers we had when we tried to continue on and felt that sometimes the teens weren't equipped to handle the energy of a toddler like an older instructor might.

This place does not teach your kid anything. When you bring up your concerns they don't address…read morethem. I asked for the owner to call me multiple times. Avoid this place at all costs there is much better ones locally

Ms. Monica has worked very closely with our son and spent extra time with him when he struggles with his fears and anxiety about the water. She never gives up no matter the struggle he puts forth! She is patient and doesn't let him give up on himself and celebrates even the tiniest progress! You will not find a better place to take your kids!
