I went in for a basic cleaning and a replacement tray after my Invisalign treatment. I clearly stated the purpose of my visit and even confirmed costs beforehand. I left without the tray I came for and instead was given a diagnosis for a root canal that I did not request. I had an 8:30 am appointment for a chipped tooth and i was there for over 4 hours. They'd come in (the dentist and the assistants) and leave again for 30 min to an hour. They need more dentists there. Some people don't have all day to spend. And they told me I might need a root canal but I have no pain at all and pretty good teeth. The receptionists are gas lighters. I booked my first appointment with them and they changed the time on me and didn't call or anything so I showed up at the time I scheduled and was harassed for being late. My second appointment the same thing happened. They rescheduled my appointment without calling or texting to inform me. But because I felt so crazy after this happened the first time I paid closer attention to the reminder text they sent which showed an hour earlier. Also, why are they changing the times? Oh, probably because if you don't show up on time they have it down that they will charge you. It's a total scam. Can't help but notice they move my time up every time too. If I could give zero stars I would. My kids (19 & 14) have pretty good teeth....no cavities. Sure their gums are inflamed, most people are a tad. They told me a few weeks ago when my 14 yr old was there that he needed a deep cleaning (the scaling and root planing). I declined. The dental hygienist then said (when the dentist left) they tell everyone that, he'll be fine w/out it and told him how to brush his gums better then proceeded to do his regular cleaning. Today my 19 yr old went without me (first time w/out me). No cavities, gums are a bit inflamed and they suggest a deep cleaning. He called me and I said no. They refused to do a cleaning at all. My dental knowledge is quite extensive. I'm sorry, but I 100% feel like they are not truthful at all. Especially when the hygienist told me they tell everyone that with my other son. I'm just floored they refused to do a cleaning at all. I dunno, I'd steer clear of going there. read more

It's strange how I didn't have periodontal disease back in January when I had a normal teeth cleaning but now have developed it to a point that I need $800 worth of cleaning. Went in for an initial visit and waited 30 minutes past my appointment time. Was finally seen and only able to do xrays because they ran out of time and were going to lunch. Went in the next day for my cleaning and left after waiting 45 minutes without being seen. They called me an hour after my appointment time asking where I went because they were ready to see me. My family of 4 have been patients there for a few years. We really liked the dentists. But I've since pulled them all and we are going elsewhere. Magically everyone needs $200-$400 deep cleanings on their gums when perfectly fine the last visit 6 months prior. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. The main issue I've been dealing with is a $1200 billing charge from when my son had his wisdom teeth removed back in 2022!! They have been given the insurance information no less than 5 times to get the matter resolved and they have yet to file insurance. I've called multiple times, and spoke to them in person. They take the insurance information and assure me they will take care of it. Welp, my son's phone is once again getting blown up with text messages asking for $1200! We've yet to be sent anything in the mail. They've lost us for good. Too bad the office staff ruins it for good dentists. read more

I had to file a complaint against this office for doing dental procedures on my sister without getting prior authorization from her insurance company and now their trying to make my sister who has short term memory foot the bill for their mistake. the receptionist salina makes excuses as to why she can not assist me with this billing issue which they failed to get prior authorization for first. Her first excuse was that it would take too long to get the authorization and hold up the patient. I am my sister power of attorney and I did not autorize any unauthorized procedure. I called her again today and all i got was stonewalling, gaslighting and excuses as to why she was not returning calls or taking care of this bill error. I am filing a complaint with Humana health dental because my sister who has short term memory and who myself as her power of attorney did not authorize any unauthorized procedures. Salina the receptionist failed to get the pre-authorization and now Ideal dental wants us to pay for Salina the receptionist mistakes. I will continue to persue this issue on my own since all Salina has is excuses when I call as to why she has no answers and this is why she does not call back to follow through. Make sure you ask questions like we did before any procedures and make sure you ask if they got pre-authorization before doing any procedures so they don't try to stick you with the bill. I have b een trying to settle this issue since the beginning of December with no return phone calls and stone walling filled with excuses from the Receptionist Salina. i ask to speak with office manager she sayd she was aware of the billing issue. I asked her what was they doing about it and she goes into making the excuses as to how busy they are and i explain to her that were customer too. I always knew from the beginning that this issue would resolve but I was still trying to give Salina and whoever else time. I told Salina the receptionist today i was going to file a complaint with the insurance carrier Humana and she continue to send the bill twice. Gaslighting we will not pay for their mistake in not obtaing the proper paperwork before doing all those x-rays . she thought i was going to go away and they continue with the bill but i believe i am not the only one and must continue the exposure. please make sure your insurance will cover your procedure or they let you know upfront so you too are not left with a huge bill due to their mistake. read more

I made an appointment at this location and told them that I needed a general cleaning as well as xrays and exam. They stated that they would be happy to get that taken care of for me, once i get there i get x rays done and the exam. They come back and state that after the exam they "recommend" deep cleaning on two of my teeth which is an additional $300. i let them know that i will get that done later but for the time being i just need a general cleaning, the hygenist states that they cannot move forward with anything else until i get that done. i blatantly ask her that if they are refusing to give me a general cleaning until i pay the $300 and she tells me that its the recommendation so nothing else can be done until i do so. This place is NEVER on time with their appointments. You can expect an hour wait time from you set appointment time no matter how early or late your appointment is. The staff is nice but when you're taking off from work to go to an appointment, you expect to be seen at the set appointment time. On top of that, they charge you a $50 fee if you try to cancel because you know you don't have 2 to 3 hours to spare that day. All the paper work is done online due to covid. I noticed a few bad reviews on here and as someone with a Dentist Phobia who has also spent well over $50,000 on crowns and other dental work I can honestly say Dr. Paul and this practice is fantastic. They were able to get me in straight away and accommodate my needs in fixing my broken crown and replacing it. It was quick and painless. The doctors and staff here genuinely care about their patients which is very different from the horrors I've experienced at other practices throughout my life. I'll be continuing on with them for my general dentistry, they've earned my trust and their pricing was more than fair. Great service! Until now..... Tried to make a Saturday appt to have a deep cleaning and a few fillings done. I was told that Saturdays are half days and i would have to make a appt during the week. I got the print out of how much it was going to be a left. Now I have taken a half day off work that cost me quite a bit of money and when I arrive I am told that only the filling were scheduled and they cannot do the deep cleaning today. the worst dentist I've ever been to, every time I make an appointment they have something to say that they don't say when they call you to confirm the appointment, but I'm one of the people who likes to give opportunities, today I had my tooth cleaning appointment my teeth, which I have been waiting for for more than 6 months, they called me to confirm my appointment at 8am, well I arrived at my appointment, they handed me in and everything, and then they told me how my teeth were, if there was any medical condition at all. To which I responded, the only new thing is that I am pregnant with my first baby, to which the assistant responded ooh, if you don't bring your reference for your obygn, we can't assist you, to which I responded, they were supposed to know that I was pregnant when I filled out my form to confirm the appointment, and when they called me they did not tell me that I had to bring something from my obgyn, there is always something that was not right every time I have an appointment with you, and she answer me, I will send you to the front desk to schedule another appointment, to which the girl in front told me I will give you until March 2024 to which I replied that it is not possible I was waiting half a year for my appointment and now it turns out that I cannot be Attended, I asked her if they had read the form where it said that I was pregnant because they had not told me anything when they called me to confirm my appointment, to which the girl answered that we do not read forms, I then told her what her responsibility is, for which I was not attended to today, it is my last time to go to this stupid place, if you have any medical condition, be careful because they do not read your form and you can be in danger, both with the staff and the place is horrible read more

The good: They made room for me on a Friday because I was in pain. I needed what was left of a tooth (the roots) extracted. The Bad: The office manager came in with a quote of $400+ to do the root extraction and also another $400+ to extract the tooth next to it...I'm on SS and don't have insurance as I'm not 65 yet. Dr. Shovac said she'd do the extraction of the roots for what cash I had on me($200) since I was in pain...Numbing was good, and procedure was OK. I was OK until the numbing started to wear off. Then the REAL pain began. I was only prescribed Tylenol 3 and 150mg of clindamycin and 600g Ibprofen. The next day (Sat.)I had to go back as I couldn't eat or sleep due to the pain (which was much worse than the pain I originally had in the first place).She said I had a "dry socket" and put some sort of paste in the socket that helped then, but would only prescribe tramadol as a substitute for the Tylenol 3 that wasn't touching the pain. I told her that Tramadol wasn't effective with me and I needed something stronger, but she said that was all she would prescribe. The tramadol didn't touch the pain either. When the paste wore off, I was in extreme pain again and the whole side of my face up to my eye was swollen very badly. I had been taking the prescribed drugs as ordered, but I ended up having to go into the Emergency Room as I couldn't stand the pain any longer. I don't know if it was because I couldn't pay the full amount that they asked for or what, but even online it says that a dry socket is extremely painful and vicodin is usually prescribed. I ended up on IV antibiotics and demerol with a prescription for a higher dose of antibiotics and vicodin. Am doing much better today (Monday) and the swelling is down and the pain is under control. Needless to say, I won't be going back . Just because I didn't have insurance or be able to pay $400 for an extraction doesn't mean the $200 extraction (that the dentist offered to discount the price to, I didn't ask her to, I just told her $200 was all I had ) deserved any less consideration...Dr. Shovac didn't take me seriously when I said that the pain medicines weren't working and she could see how badly swollen I was on Sat. I even told her I was concerned about not being able to come back the next day because they are closed on Sundays. So I ended up with an Emergency Room Bill on top of the $200 I had already spent, but you can't imagine how excruciating the pain is with a dry socket..Ideal Dental may be OK for routine things, but if you are in pain, find another dentist. My pain was 10 times as bad 3 days later (Sunday) as when I originally went in. Monday 10/9/19 Mindy of Ideal Dental did try to call me to "discuss" my visit with them as she had read this review. There is nothing to discuss. All they need to know is written in the review above. I don't want to feel like I have to justify not wanting to live in extreme pain because they "can't prescribe anything stronger" than what they did. That's a bunch of hooey and they know it. What started out as an "act of kindness" backfired into pain I've never had before, even with kidney stones. You need to listen to your patients and take into consideration the pain they are in. read more

I had to call them every month from November 2017 all the way through June 2018 until they finally billed my insurance correctly... originally they were billing me $1100 "that my insurance didn't cover." I ended up having to pay them $549 because I value my credit and I understand that an estimate can be off sometimes "but come on $549." The absolute worst dentist I have ever been too! First off they called and cancelled my husbands and my appointment and rescheduled us for two weeks out... okay no big deal. I have confirmed with them that they DO cleanings on Saturday's and I was assured it was no problem. So we get to our appointment 30mins prior as we are new and I was sure we needed to do paperwork. So we do the paperwork and 10:15 rolls around... (our appointments were at 945). 10:15 hits and they take me back and make me do new xrays even though I have had my previous ones (taken six months prior) sent to them... they had to do new ones because "they have brand new better equipment"... they move me to the chair 35 mins later a girl comes back and takes some more pictures and explains I have all these problems... and the hygienist will be in shortly to go over them. 20mins pass and he comes in tells me all the "hard news" and tells me I am ready go. HE NEVER EVEN CLEANED MY TEETH. It's after 1115now and my husband is STILL in the lobby... I tell them he will not be going through all that, create him a plan and let's leave... they could tell I was over it. My husband was in and out in ten minutes. The gal at the front desk tries to schedule me and says "oh we just don't do cleaning on saturdays, and we are booked through April of 2019 if you are sure you need a Saturday". So they don't do cleaning me on saturdays unless your schedule it 6 months out.This place is insane, and I believe they are just trying to rack in your insurance, they had zero intention of cleaning my or my husbands teeth, but they sure submitted that insurance claim QUICK. I got home and went over the paperwork they gave me and it was all New things my previous dentist who was a highly recommended dentist never mentioned. I went from a B grade mouth to a D at this facility, and everything they put on my recommendation plan was all things that instantly capped out my insurance, with a low out of pocket expense.... My and my wife moved to Forney and we looked for a new Dentist. We went her because it had good reviews and they said they had people who speak Spanish which helps for my wife. We show up and nobody speaks Spanish, strike 1. They give us a plan which has a bunch of stuff that our last dentist didn't say we needed but we figured we would trust them. The plan states what our Insurance covers and what we need to pay. We do the procedures and pay our part the day it was done. We get a bill in the mail a few months later for bill of over 500. I call to find out what it was for and they say my insurance is not covering the procedures. I call my insurance and they say that type of tooth extraction is not covered. Ideal Dental is saying it is my fault and I have to know what is covered and not covered even if they give you a plan that states what my insurance will cover, and I have to pay it. Total rip off, I would not have done the procedures as we didn't really think it was necessary if they would have told me the truth up front. They will scam you watch out. read more

This place is a scam. They bill for unnecessary procedures and charge everyone for a root canal even if it's not necessary. They also act as if the customer doesn't have a say in the procedures they want done. I went in for a simple crown replacement and they ran the bill up to $1000 with unnecessary procedures. The crown I did receive was poorly done. I have other crowns that are older that appear in better shape than the one I received there. Then I went back in for my yearly cleaning and was then informed that I need another root canal, I need to replace my filings and replace a second crown because they evidently don't like the way it look.
