I am so incredibly grateful to have found Ideal Electrolysis and Roxy! Years ago, I had done laser hair removal on my face. I didn't have much hair on my face before but just a few hairs around my mouth and chin area and didn't want to get them waxed/threaded every few weeks. Unfortunately, I also got diagnosed with PCOS. PCOS along with the laser hair removal made my facial hair growth terrible and I started growing lots of hair on my face- and they were very thick and dark hairs. As I was going to school in Santa Barbara, I tried going to a few electrolysis clinics there, however, it was incredibly painful and my skin reacted terribly to it. I adore Roxy! I have been dealing with chin hair, over lip hair, and neck hair all my life. Being Lebanese the genes are definitely strong but just after 10 sessions (1 hour each) with Roxy I'm seeing a HUGE difference. Lots of the darker hair haven't been coming back and if there are any they come back in a couple weeks versus within a day or two. Also lots of hair just hasn't grown back. It's been a great process. In college I started getting coarse chin hairs that eventually spread to my neck, so I plucked, waxed, shaved, etc for years, but it only got worse as time went on. A couple years ago, once I couldn't stand it anymore I decided to see to Roxy, and it has been life changing. I started with one hour sessions once a week for several months, then switched to every two weeks when the hair started growing back slower. Now, two years later, I'd say about 90% of the hair is gone. It would probably be gone completely by now but I had a baby a year ago which made it tougher to see Roxy as consistently. Luckily with the progress we have made I shave my face about once a week and that's all the upkeep I have to do between appointments. Before seeing Roxy I would've had to shave or pluck every day to not be embarrassed in public. As far as the process goes, it's not very painful, and the little pain there is is so worth it. Also, Roxy can set the machine to different levels depending on your pain threshold. We started out on a low setting and progressively went higher as I got more used to it. I usually have red bumps around my chin and neck for a day or two afterwards, but I'm able to hide most of it with makeup. It just looks light I have a little breakout, but again it's worth it for the long term benefits, and the thinner your hair gets the less red and bumpy you get afterwards. Love my results and wish I would have started this sooner! I was hesitant because I thought it would be painful but I experience no pain. I am a baby with pain and can't handle much but this is surprisingly not painful! I would compare the feeling to plucking your eyebrows, but even less. Roxy is so gentle and careful I hardly feel a thing! Before Roxy my armpits were like chia pets. I used to get painful ingrown hairs and had to shave every other day or end up looking like I had velcro pits. Now I can go a week without shaving and no razor burn bumps! I would give 500 starts if I could. I have been doing laser hair removal since I was 16/17 years old. I am now 23. After 7 years I am still experiencing hair growth (Some areas have even been stimulated by laser in places where you would typically not find hair). This is a preliminary review because I have only had 3 treatments with Roxy so far, who by the way is a total doll. She's pretty hip and is really responsive to texts if you have any questions about after care, and by responsive, I mean within minutes usually. Big plus, because everyone reacts differently to electrolysis, and it's comforting that the person preforming your procedures actually cares about you and how you're healing. I would like to come back an update my review as I progress through my treatment, because who am I kidding? That's what we're alI here for right? 3 treatments: I was told that I damaged some of my roots due to plucking, so these initial treatments have helped open the roots up for easier clearance by the zap zap. I don't know what that needle thing is called that jolts you, but trust me, it's not as bad as the internet makes it seem. I actually have fallen asleep at least once. I have gone to Roxy for several months. She is friendly. However, she is very unprofessional. Every single session she has stopped what she is doing to text or a few times even answered a phone call. This is very rude and unhygienic. She wears gloves which is great, except when she is touching her dirty phone multiple times it defeats the purpose. Roxy is amazing! Before I went in 2 different women told me the pain I would be going through. I braced myself for the worst and got none! The most discomfort I felt was like a tiny static zing at times. I had no signs afterwards except a few tiny bumps which went away after just a few hours and literally 3 microscopic pore size scabs. I recently (early 20's) starting noticing coarse hairs around my chin/jawline (I'm a blonde) that were growing in very dark and thick and thus looked like blackheads. Oftentimes the hair became ingrown and would cause acne. After a friend told me electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal, and that laser wouldn't work on my blonde peach fuzz, I did some research and found Roxy so conveniently near my office. From day 1 Roxy has been willing to work around my crazy schedule (appointments at lunch, early morning Saturday's and weekdays.) She is truly a magician; in about 10 hours (persistence is key!)
