about a month ago I saw this deal on living social for $24 for a Brazilian Bikini wax, and compared to other deal,s this was by far the most affordable. So like any/all places I try, i yelp'ed it, and saw that is had AMAZING reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I called to make an appointment and on the answering machine it said that I was able to text the phone number with any questions or to schedule an appointment. so I was able to make an appointment the next day via text, no problem. My appointment was at 11:30 today and I was seen by Brie,I told her my situation about how my dermatologist recommended I wax instead of shave due to skin irritation. Brie was so understanding, and professional the entire time! she engaged in pleasant conversation which really helped distract me for the minor discomfort i felt from the waxing process. She made me feel very comfortable, especially given the circumstance lol It really is not as painful and people make it out to be. I would say it was more uncomfortable then painful. The waxing process probably took about 20 min., if that. i am so happy with the result, i ended up making another appointment for next month! Finding someone skilled with wax is difficult. Finding someone you're comfortable around is even more difficult. This place popped up on my radar and piqued my curiosity, so I of course had to check it out. The number listed on this Yelp is a direct number to Brie. Cami's number is listed in the tips. I booked an appointment with Brie and was a bit nervous (understandably). The entire experience was waaay less painful than expected. I did pop a few ibuprofen as advised 30 minutes prior to my appointment. Brie was friendly, personable, and meticulous. The room was sanitary, as were the supplies used. I got sent home with an exfoliation glove and hydrocortisone cream just in case I needed it. Will I be going back? Oh yes. I had a scheduled appointment and confirmed the day before, I arrived to a closed shop and no one answered my call, I never received a call back. Let me start off by saying I was definitely one of those "only strip-wax" people from the beginning of me getting waxes regularly. My go-to waxing salon was a "chain" wax place (I don't want to specify names). The girl that did my waxes regularly was actually a close friend of mine and though I think she's a phenomenal wax-ist (?) she recently moved to Oregon and because I ONLY trusted her to do my waxing, AND because I've had other girls from her salon wax me (btw, they did a not-so-spectacular job at it...) I decided on going to a different salon altogether. I got a Groupon per another friends recommendation that if I was going to go searching for a new was place, I shouldn't pay full price the first time around in case I didn't like it... SoCal Waxology was the first thing that popped up for Brazilian Wax searches on Groupon and let me tell you, I am NEVER going to another salon as long as Cami is alive and well. Here is everything Cami taught me in the (maybe) 45 minute session that I had with her. 1. Strip-wax is (typically) more painful than hard waxing (Cami's method). 2. Strip-waxing potentially breaks the hairs at the VERY base of the hair growth, causing uneven lengths of hair when it starts growing back between waxes. (Which is something I definitely noticed but of course had no idea why it happened until Cami told me) 3. Hard wax "shrink-wraps" around the hairs, virtually leaving no hairs to break off at the base = no uneven hair growth! Also the big question: Does it hurt more or less than strip-wax? Answer: It hurts SIGNIFICANTLY less than strip wax. When I went to a strip-wax salon, almost every time during my sessions I was wincing at the pain, sometimes to the point where I thought to myself "You might as well just start shaving again..." I'm sure it also has to do with how wonderful Cami is at her job, but it was so much less painful, almost painless to get it done by her. Also, she was so kind and personable. Talking with her to lessen the (most of the time) awkward interaction of a Brazilian wax was seriously like talking to a best friend. TL;DR: Do yourselves a favor... So, basically, I only trust my lady waxing to Cami of the very new and hip Waxology. I mean when someone is that close and personal, the need to not only be very skilled with the wax but also amusing enough to keep you laughing during what is perhaps one of life's most painful experiences. (So, I have been told, as a beast and captain of my mind, I don't feel pain). My dad once told me that you should only frequent people who are passionate about what they do: go to the most passionate barrista at Starbucks, the hairdresser who secretly sniffs hair in the corner, and the housecleaner who gets off on smelling Pine Sol (don't judge .. Pine Sol legit smells amazing). Cami is hot for hot wax ... so she not only knows what she is doing, but she is a perfectionist. She will make you as smooth as a newborn in all of your lady regions. Since I don't have much pigment and am too lazy to put on makeup, I also use Cami for tinting my eyebrows and eyelashes. I always look amazing from head to lady region when I leave Cami's expert wax. She is also a veritable expert on all Bravo shows and is able to talk Bravolebrities with the best of them (me), this makes your smoothing experience way more "fun". What are you waiting for? Let me start from the beginning... I saw that LivingSocial had a great deal for a $24 brazilian. Too good to be true, I thought. I checked out their Yelp reviews before I made the purchase and they were all great so I said "why not!?" and went for it. I called, emailed, and Facebooked them and was probably being really annoying because I couldn't figure out how to get ahold of them at first and was attacking them from so many different directions. Cami called me back after about an hour to schedule my appointment, though, and wasn't mad at me :) I guess I got lucky, too, because she's super booked and I was able to get an appointment within 2 days, at the time I needed. It worked out perfectly. Waxology is inside of ABC Pilates. Since I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for, it was somewhat hard to find. It's a cute little location that apparently is closed on Sundays so my wait was nice and quiet. The room looks just like the pictures other people posted - it's super cute and cozy and comfortable. So after all that, and about a 35-40 minute drive from my house, all I have to say is let Cami wax your vag! Okay, so maybe that's a little much - but still. I don't just go anywhere... I get it that I'm flashing my lady bits to a stranger, so I try to be a little extra mindful when choosing who I go to. Like I said, the reviews were awesome so I gave it a try and I am so glad I did. She is GOOOD at what she does. Easily one of the best waxes I've ever had - and she was so good about making sure she got every little hair. Now, I know you're probably going to call bullshit on what I'm about to say, but I sh*t you not - it didn't even hurt! Okay, so one strip hurt, ONE, but that was the single most painless wax of my life. And I'm a total baby. She had to bring me an extra towel at one point because I was getting nervous and my palms were getting sweaty because I guess I thought it would get worse. But honestly, it wasn't bad at all and - I'll say it again - it was virtually painless. Plus, she makes great conversation. Not that I mind sitting in silence while someone rips the hair off my va jay jay, but time goes by much more quickly while talking about Britney Spears and that poor Honey Boo Boo girl...bless her heart. I also have a confession to make: I took a few Tootsie Rolls from the candy dish in the room. I'm on a diet so I was trying to take one and be done, but that didn't happen. She found out I love the flavored Tootsie Rolls and went and picked me out a Vanilla one. OMG. So good. And yet so mean of her to sabotage me. Mmmm Vanilla frosting tootsie rolls! I recommend her to everyone! Not at all too good to be true! Try out SoCal Waxology and you will not be disappointed. I will most likely be back. Let me start by saying I have been seeing CAMI since 2004. She was the second person I ever used for waxing and I haven't strayed. For the past 6 years I have lived an hour away from OC and still continue to make my appointments through her. I have been to other places for waxing on and off and when I couldn't get down to OC but no one does it like Cami! She seriously prides herself on making sure that each customer is treated exactly the same and even when you go to her for years and years as I have, she still takes her time, treats you exactly the same and makes sure you get the best in town. Waxing I know is scary, but with Cami, I never have any issues, irritation, ingrowns etc, she uses the best wax and while she has been doing this for over 10 years, she does the best work I have come across. I'll first say that I've never personally had a bad bikini waxing experience (thank goodness!). That's probably because I've only been to two waxers. I have nothing bad to say about the first lady I went to, she was great. But, Cami is amazing. I've had friends tell me horror stories about yelling and screaming and begging for the waxing to stop. Before I went for my first wax, my husband was a doll (ugh) and pulled up videos on the internet of women having them done (faces only)... it seemed really painful. Yikes! I was really scared before I went. But, that hasn't been my experience at all. Cami makes you very comfortable... she is sweet, personable, professional, accommodating, and discreet and her studio is very comfortable. After hearing all sorts of stories of doom and pain, I really expected a good amount of pain. I was very happy to find that either I have a high pain-tolerance or Waxology specialists are crazy-gifted. I'm going to assume the latter. She was professional, very quick, and kept my mind off of the fact that my hair was being ripped out. This was my first Brazilian wax, err any sort of wax ever. I might've said ouch 3 times. I LOVE So Cal Waxology!! I first met Brie at another OC salon awhile back. Lucky for us all, she had moved on from there and started her own business. Brie is incredible! From the moment you meet her, she puts you at ease and makes you feel comfortable. Who knew getting a brazilian could actually be enjoyable?! Her years of waxing experience are evident as she quickly and cleanly waxes away your stubborn hairs, leaving you soft and smooth as baby's behind. I should first say I have been to most of the waxing places in south Orange County and have never really been consistent with any of them. I was down in socal visiting my family and found their groupon since i'm a broke college student I am always trying to save money where ever I can. I booked an appointment with Lara, and when I go to new wax places I'm always worried if I am going to get my money's worth, but I can say with confidence I 100% did going here. I got a brazilian and eyebrow wax and I have pretty sensitive skin and easily get in grown hairs. I totally recommend Lara, she's amazing! She was able to get most of my in grown hairs out and totally painless brazilian wax. I don't know what she does but I wish I can bring her back to San Francisco with me!! This was my first experience with any type of waxing, and after searching Yelp, made an appointment with Cami, who responds very quickly by text. Prior to my appointment, Cami informed me of the prep I would need to do prior to getting waxed. All communication very professional and courteous. My appointment and waxing couldn't have gone any better. I had a variety of questions during the service which Cami answered with ease. I don't understand why it took me so long to write this review. SoCal Waxology has been Heaven sent. I was recommended by a friend after moving to the OC from Vegas. I had such trouble finding a good waxing place in Las Vegas, that I didn't want to have to do it again in the OC. Some of the experiences I have had in the past: burning my skin, dirty & unsanitary practices, bruising, tearing my skin..... None of that happens at SoCal Waxology. Located in an unassuming industrial type business district, it is unpretentious. Walk through the door and you are in a little sanctuary that is calm, beautifully decorated and inviting. Cami is one of the most down-to-Earth women I have met in South OC & is truly a professional. When I leave this place, I feel like I have had a good time with an old friend. I have never had a Brazilian that didn't put me in tears, that is, until Cami took over. She is amazing. I make the trek from Orange every month and it does not even faze me that I have to drive all the way to Laguna Niguel. It is completely worth it!!
