OK, I've got to do it... "Good stuff cheap!"…read more There. Now that THAT's out of the system, review time! Ollie's is clearly an overstock store and the inventory can fluctuate a bit but if you've got some free time, you'll net a good find! Tons of interesting food items (a great way to try out stuff you may be unsure of), a wide selection of books (including a LOT of "how-to" books - again, cheap!), clothing, furniture, cookware... You name it, they've probably got it. Of course, stick to the "you get what you pay for" mentality. For some items, that is truly the case, but in a lot of scenarios, you'll likely be very pleased at the bang for your buck! I've only been dissatisfied with a product on rare occasion. This particular store kind of matches the others I've been to. A bit overwhelming at first glance - there's a lot to sift through - but it looks like staff members do a great job of restocking items and keeping things organized. Kind of hard to give a more specific review since stock turns around quite a bit, but it's definitely worth it to check Ollie's out if you've got some free time and a few bucks to spare!

This is a terrible place to work and shop. The area is terrible constant theft and armed robbery…read morefrom people in the surrounding neighborhoods. Thieves brandishing knives and threats with other weapons just to steal some toothpaste and febreeze. It was fucking ridiculous on a daily basis. I truly feel sorry for the ladies that have to work and close that store late at night. Loss Prevention knows how bad it is their words were " we know about the danger in the area it is our only store in Virginia that we need to hire armed security". They never did and customers and theives continue to walk all over the spineless gutless management. The store is so cluttered and junky I don't know how you would ever shop there. Their entire AC system is falling apart but they won't fix it because the store is in a low income area as opposed to their Virginia Beach location where if the AC was broken they would have it fixed right away for THAT clientele. Terrible experience all around.

This place is so cool and eclectic! It's the store that used to be under Elliot's Fairgrounds, but…read morethe lady working said this was a better spot- more out in the open. I loved everything inside, and wanted to buy one of everything! If you're looking for a gift for almost anyone, this is a good spot to check out. The prices were pretty reasonable, but some were a bit pricey (to be expected). I can't wait to go back for another gift!

Shop local like you mean it and you won't be disappointed at Texture!…read more After many years, Texture has relocated out of the quaint house on Baldwin Avenue to serve its customers in a more convenient location just a few blacks down on Colley Avenue. The new location is nestled next to Running, Etc and across the street from Blair Middle School. It boasts ample street parking with a convenient side parking lot for customers as well. A beautiful store-front window is always displayed to perfection bringing window shopping to life during your stroll down Colley Avenue. A charming sidewalk chalkboard sign greets you before you even enter the store. The handiwork on the sign is done by a local artist which speaks to the nature of Texture. As you enter the shop, you will find it proudly supports local artists of Coastal Virginia from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and more. I'm always impressed by the jewelry, hand designed greeting cards, pottery, and accessories that the owner finds for the store. She or any other "Texurette" will happily tell you about the origins of any item. The ladies who work in the shop (Texurettes, as they are fondly called) are always friendly and helpful if you are looking for something particular. They offer complimentary gift wrapping in adorable gift bags tied with ribbon. Every time I give a gift in a Texture bag the recipients eyes light up! You will find a price range for every wallet. I have bought $2 hand soaps, hilarious dishes towels for $10 as well as beautiful jewelry in the higher price range. Texture is one of those local shops who truly supports local as well. I love both that they give back to the community and support local artists. It is definitely the ideal place to find a gift for any occasion. They have a baby boutique with one of a kind baby gifts, vintage inspired puzzles, funny gifts such as socks and dish towels, coastal decor, jewelry, handbags, pottery, candles and more. I'm not sure how the owner did it, but the move to their new location only brought more of that local charm with them to Colley Avenue. They are still serving up friendly southern greetings to every customer while making their new shiny store feel ever so welcoming. Kudos!
