We always have a great time relaxing at the idyllwild Inn. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location cannot be beat!

We came here to celebrate and have a calm Mother's day weekend. The New Rustic 1 bedroom cabin was lovely and had all the things you would need. We had cooked a couple meals and appreciate all of the cookware provided. The sofa bed was very comfortable. They are located in a very prime location. It is right in the center of town. You can walk all of circle drive around town. I would defintely come back here perhaps during another season.

Again I absolutely love this place! All the cabins are so unique and different. In total I have stayed here 4 times now. Once in Cabin 8, which is a small rustic studio with a cute deck in the back. Full kitchen and fireplace too. The 3rd time I stayed in Cabin 13, an updated king studio with an amazing new deck. Cute small red refrigerator and microwave and a couch in the room. No fireplace. The other two times I have stayed in Cabin 1 which is very spacious and has a closed in deck which is nice for my dog. This one also has a full kitchen and fireplace which I prefer. Can't wait to come back and explore more of their adorable cabins! Thanks for being so hospitable Monty, Lisa, Nancy, and Terry! :-)

5 stars! What a delightful little escape! We stayed just one night in this absolutely adorable cabin, and it instantly felt like a warm, homey retreat. Spacious, Has big rooms, fresh towels, and a cozy vibe that made it hard to leave. The fireplace was super easy to use and kept the entire place toasty. The kitchen is large and wonderfully stocked with all the appliances you could need we baked and cooked throughout our stay. Outside, the surroundings are stunning! peaceful and beautiful, with nature all around. Even though nearby homes are somewhat close, the layout and trees make it feel completely private you hardly notice. The only suggestion is that we couldn't quite figure out how to crank up the TV volume, so make sure to bring portable speaker for movie night. Highly recommend, it's the perfect cozy getaway! We'd love to come back for longer next time. Lisa, Terry, and Joyce were amazing at the front desk!! Our cabin was called the creek suite I believe!

One of the best places and towns I've stayed in! The staff was so sweet and friendly. Very accommodating. The cabin we had was so nice and comfy. Fun little activities to do within property. Relaxing walks we had. Can't wait to go back

Went to IDY to celebrate my husbands birthday and to check out this quaint town. We stayed in the New Rustic Suite (21), which had what we needed. Didn't really cook anything during our stay but, did use the microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The bed could use replacing, as it dips in the center. Other than that, the staff were very nice and the place was very comfy! The deck area looked out into the woods and was far away from the main street so, it was very peaceful during the day and night. The place is walking distance to all the little town has to offer. Would definitely stay here again.

Did not feel comfortable spending the night in a room with a pentagram carving.

This is the most disgusting and disgraceful business I have ever seen. My husband and I booked a stay here for our wedding anniversary after liking the first stay last year, and it was probably the biggest mistake we've made. We booked cabin #8 on an outside party website (booking.com) because it looked clean and enough room for us and our pup. Upon arrival, we checked in and they had placed us in cabin #9 because they double booked for the weekend. We were trying to make it no big deal and just went with it. After given the keys, we opened the room and it was not cleaned at all since the previous guests - because the system has us booked in another cabin from the start! To apologize, Sandy from their staff gave us 2 free drink tickets with PURCHASE of 2 entrees at their sister property...how kind. After our room was finally ready, we opened the door and were finally able to see past the dirty sheets and wet towels on the floor - the room was completely covered in disgusting carvings from ceiling to floor. Including vulgar language as well as a satanic pentagram on the bathroom door. We were livid, as we booked months in advance, did NOT get our selected cabin, and got put in this sorry excuse of accommodations instead. After pleading with staff to switch us to the cabin in our original booking, they refused completely to accommodate to our needs. They did allow us to spend the night in another cabin since it was late and we were exhausted after a day of travel, but then proceeded to say the same thing in the morning - there was nothing they could do and we needed to stay in that disgusting room or leave. We obviously chose to leave and preserve what was left of our wedding anniversary weekend. We were livid with staff and their inability to remedy the situation, so we ended up getting a lovely call from Monty C. (the business manager) threatening to handle the situation "in person" with my husband and banning us from their properties (thank goodness! ). Monty - I know you'll see this and likely want to reply that I cussed at your staff. With the way you all act, I would do it again! You are all sorry excuses for the hospitality industry! Avoid this place at all costs.

I've been staying at the Idyllwild Inn since I was a little girl. Back then, I would come with my mom and a friend, or my mom, dad and sister. I can remember delighting in the simple playground - a metal slide, seesaw, volleyball net, horseshoe and wood climbing structure. We would always go catch the movie that was playing at the Rustic Theater and gorge on the candy I excitedly purchased at the Candy Cupboard. I always wanted the pack of chocolate cigarettes, ha ha! Fast forward 30 years and I recently returned for the first time since becoming a mom. The last time I came was 10 years ago with my sister and our friend. Then, it was a perfect, laidback girls weekend full of wine and other fireside indulgences in our cozy cabin. The Idyllwild Inn has always been the perfect mountain getaway no matter the stage of life. This time, we brought our dog. While she enjoyed all the smells and lunging at squirrels, my toddler delighted in the same metal slide, seesaw and wood play structure - virtually unchanged since I was not much older than him. Also virtually unchanged are the cabins. In a world where everything moves at light speed, what an absolute joy it is to slow down, battle it out in a family game of Chutes & Ladders (checked out from the front desk), and savor the simple sights and sounds of mountain nature, a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee, and local hospitality. The Idyllwild Inn has changed very little because it's perfect the way it is. We discovered our best-ever Idyllwild meal on this trip - the most perfect breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches and freshly baked donuts from Amelia's Bakery Cafe, a short walk from our cabin. Also on this trip, we discovered the new (to us) Idyllwild Community Playground, also within short walking distance, and enjoyed relaxing in the car looking out at Lake Fulmor (about 20 minutes away) while our little guy napped. I'm delighted to report that while some childhood memories are like balloons that can feel deflated when experienced once again as an adult, the Idyllwild Inn lives up to every expectation if you just be sure to appreciate it for the sweet and charming home away from home that it is. Thank you to the wonderful staff - we will most certainly be back! One day, I hope, as grandparents to the next generation of little ones learning to love dear, old Idyllwild Inn.

We enjoyed our short (one night) stay here. The staff is very welcoming and our lodging had an old cabin feel to it. The property is within walking distance to the main town area and you can park your car and pretty much walk anywhere you would want to go.

Great Fire place but it was too warm to enjoy.

What an amazing stay! Loved the adult only area rooms situated away from the family cabins. Designated quiet times.. patio with grills and seating area....we stayed in the Old West room. We will definitely be back as we only live down the hill! Highly recommend!

    Living area. Comfortable and spacious.

Great accommodations. Excellent price. Treated us (PCT hikers) really well. My only complaint is that the WiFi is too slow.

We enjoyed our 3-day stay in room 201 which included a king bed and a daybed. Seven of the rooms feature stunning electric fireplaces and this room was one of them. Our only complaint was that the Casper mattresses they use in their suites were way too soft. It's important to point out that there's no front desk in this establishment, but we did see staff at check-in and at various times throughout our stay. If we ever visit Idyllwild again, we will be booking another reservation at The Creekstone!

Within 5 minutes of arriving to our room, someone came to inform us that our son wasn't welcome because children under the age of 12 are prohibited. He also informed us that he would be charging us an additional $50 and that if there were any noise complaints, he would bring them to our attention immediately. First off, nowhere when booking does this hotel specify that children are prohibited. It's not clear unless you go to their policies page that it indicates children are 'discouraged'. Do you know why? Because the walls are paper thin. Our child was silent and asleep by 7:30pm but we could hear everything the adults next door were saying and watching on the TV (at reasonable volumes, mind you). And to top it all off, Google says this IS a kid-friendly hotel. Second, should you need anything, you can't get ahold of anyone. There is no front desk and you don't have any service so you can't call anyone or send a text through their SMS service. So I hope you don't need an extra towel or Kleenex because no one will be available to assist you. Except the guy who magically appears to charge you $50 and then is nowhere to be found. It's really too bad that such a nice hotel has such crappy service and is so unkind to families. They forget that parents are regular people too who enjoy get aways without kids and have plenty of parent friends who they will be informing to skip the Creekstone Inn and stay somewhere else.

It was a little difficult for me to get any sleep the first night because of the smoke smell. But airing it out the next day (and a 10mile hike) helped! AS IDYLLWILD STARTER SPOT = 5-stars! If this is your first time to Idyllwild, this is great. Easy to find. Easy to walk to town. Quiet and away from town center. Budget between "cabin" and "hotel" FIRST TIME to Idyllwild. The address is on Hwy 243. Unlike other major roads, it is empty after 8pm - so don't worry that it might be noisy. It's not. On the plus side: If you've never been here, it's very easy to find. But also away from the center of town (but not so far that you can't walk to it) INNKEEPERS & STAFF The innkeepers who greeted us when we arrived and checked us out were very helpful and extremely friendly. There is a small shop for gifts in the lobby area. Some booking services might not have all of the right information. Call the front desk with questions. They are super helpful. PARKING Easy to find and plenty of parking out front ROOMS (Evergreen) We stayed in one of the original (older) rooms. It has been upgraded with new plumbing and a jacuzzi style jet tub alongside the shower. The room is spacious and comfortably fits all of your gear on one side of the room away from the bed. A big hearth in front of the fireplace is perfect for a make-shift table. The drawback to this particular room (Evergreen) is that you are under the stairs to the rooms above. Not terrible, as most people were in by 9pm. But you will hear them creaking up and down when they leave their rooms. You can't hear them in the rooms. There are other rooms that are not connected or under other people's rooms. Clean sheets Clean towels Nice shower (saloon doors on old shower) Separate toilet/tub room. Pillows are a little flat HVAC works well (workers came in to check it while we were there) Fun/Silly books and board games in the room. - Didn't use fireplace - Didn't use television - Just needed a spot to sleep and shower before the next day's adventure. This was perfect +. COMMON SPACES INSIDE; There is a fantastic common space in the main house/lobby. Large long tables for where they used to serve breakfast. (There is no breakfast service: hotel style coffee en suite) The long tables are great for spreading out maps, games, whatever needs a bunch of space outside of your room. OUTSIDE; 1. Back Deck: There's a warm, sunny deck, protected from wind and hwy sounds. Everyone's room opens onto this space. 2. Gazebo: A small 4 seat gazebo is in the southern garden area. With views of the creek area, this is a great spot to take a nice afternoon rest stop. Nice place to sit to read, or sketch, or just close your eyes for a minute and say "I'm NOT asleep". GETTING AROUND: TO TOWN: The inn is a perfect distance from town. About 7-10 minutes to walk, there's a path that leads from the back door of the inn to the edge of town. STRAWBERRY CREEK is what it's all about. Walking this path back and forth to town is FANTASTIC. The path to town might be THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE INN. The stairs down to the creek path are a little severe, but the path is VERY easy to walk. Driving to town feels silly = 2 minutes. IDYLLWILD PARK (& Campground) Perimeter Hike (4 miles). Strawberry Creek Inn is a short (2-4 block walk) to the campground. The perimeter trail isn't especially technical (although a little steep in some spots), but it's basically just across the street from the inn.

From the second we arrived, it felt like someone had asked, "What if we built a hotel fueled entirely by joy, nostalgia, creativity, and just the right amount of weird?" Every inch of the property is intentional. You can tell this wasn't designed by someone trying to create a trendy Instagram backdrop--it was created by people who genuinely delight in delighting others. The themed rooms are works of art. Every time we noticed a detail, we'd immediately find three more. Hidden surprises, thoughtful references, incredible craftsmanship...it's impossible not to grin the entire time you're exploring. It somehow manages to be whimsical without ever feeling gimmicky. But what really made the stay unforgettable was the atmosphere. The free arcade, the hot tub under the pines, the fire pit, the cozy common spaces, breakfast in the morning--it all creates this feeling that you've stumbled into the coolest summer camp for grown-ups. We laughed more in one weekend than we have in months. And the staff? Truly wonderful. Warm, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they've built. That pride shows in everything, from how impeccably maintained the property is to the little touches that make you feel like a guest rather than just another reservation. In a world where so many hotels blur together, Hicksville Pines dares to have a personality--and a huge heart. It's playful, imaginative, peaceful, hilarious, and somehow incredibly cozy all at once. I'm already mentally planning which room I'll book next, because one visit is simply not enough. Thank you for creating a place that reminds adults how to play, encourages curiosity, and makes escaping to the mountains feel genuinely magical.
