What an amazing stay! We booked The Hideout 2 bedroom log cabin and it was perfect for our family of four (3 adults and 1 dog). The backyard is fully fenced in and has so much room for your pet to explore. It's like having your own mini dog friendly forested area. The full kitchen was so adorable and had everything we needed. Downstairs bedroom has a comfy double bed and bathroom. Upstairs loft bedroom has a king bed. Three flat screen TVs, air conditioning, and modern bathroom... it's seriously perfect for a small family. Entire cabin was very neat and clean. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. We can't wait to be back and would definitely book this cabin again in the future! read more

We checked in after dark. We were in a one-bedroom rustic cabin. The front desk woman was lovely and very helpful. When we arrived at our unit we could hear a kazoo being played very loudly. We then entered our cabin to discover it was a duplex situation with a door separating us from the people next door. The problem was that the people next door seemed to be grandparents babysitting or something to that effect, the kids were jumping on furniture, screaming, and playing the kazoo so loudly we couldn't even hear our own TV. I complained to the front desk the next morning and asked to be moved but they were sold out. The front desk informed me they spoke to them and asked them to keep it down, but the noise never stopped, and the kids stopped playing the kazoo but nothing else changed it was so loud and bad. We were told by the office that they were leaving on Sunday so we decided to stick it out. Overall the place was nice and clean. I do wish I knew the cabin wasn't stand-alone, but overall the place is cute and nice. We just happened to have the bad luck to get the worst neighbors. read more

I stayed at the Idyllwild Inn for a couple days after hearing good things about the area. Through a glitch that till this day I'm not sure how it happened, I ended up with the wrong room. I will say the Inn did try all they could to fix it, but I ended up keeping it as is. We still enjoyed our stay, and it was a hassle free experience. The Inn is pretty much right next to the town, so it was within most dining and shop options. Everyone was quiet around us, and the room was comfortable. I will say at night it felt a bit treachous walking back in pitch black, I was hoping for a bit of lighting, but that could impede probably on others privacy. Our cabin had its own deck with table and chairs, and you get wood for the fireplace, which was a nice treat . I would definitely stay there again. If you are looking into staying here i highly advise you ask to speak with LISA! She's the most friendly, gracious, hospitable and will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is amazing! I wanted to surprise my bf for his birthday with a one-night stay in Idyllwild, and this inn was the perfect location! It's situated in the middle of the town center and all of the small shops are within about a half-mile walking distance. I read previous reviews saying that cabins closer to the street had higher noise levels so I booked Cabin #21 (new rustic suite), which was located more towards the back of the property. Our surroundings were very quiet and peaceful and the balcony was perfect for stargazing at night! Inside you'll find a gas stove, mini fridge and microwave so you can store and cook your own food conveniently, and toiletries and towels are available in the bathroom. The bed wasn't very comfortable because the mattress didn't offer much back support, but we were only staying for a night so it wasn't a big deal. My favorite part was definitely the fireplace, which gave our cabin a really warm and cozy feel. It comes with a free bundle of firewood, so be sure to use it : ) Overall, really liked Idyllwild Inn and I think it embodies the laidback lifestyle that's embraced here. After spending five nights for our annual Thanksgiving sojourn, we have returned to Costa Mesa. Reflecting on our recent visit, there have been some changes by the new owners that have transformed the feel of the Inn. On check in, we were asked to pay for our visit up front under the ruse that it would ease/speed our departure. After paying a 2 night deposit, I balked. I prefer not to pay for something I have yet to receive. It also reflects a less than appreciative attitude for customers who have been faithfully visiting for years (19 for us in particular). It seems that the free 1 bundle of wood has changed to a few pieces scattered on the hearth. We burn 2 bundles a day and did not change our habit. The bundles of wood changed noticeably. Short pieces and overly long pieces, as well as numerous pieces of kindling characterize the new bundles. As a matter of fact, our last bundle was a majority of oversized kindling. Regarding housekeeping, we had to press for our room to be serviced on Friday and Saturday. The new toiletries were very nice. With that, this was only a 3 star visit. read more

My buddy of mine and I had occasion to stay in Idyllwild to hike the Devil's Slide Traill from Humber Park (USFS). He had looked up this place, and it turned out to be a winner! Absolutely adorable and cozy. I took my boyfriend here in June 2021, and our vacation took a few unexpected turns that had me cancelling and extending nights repeatedly. Even with all that inconvenience, the staff was patient and helpful the entire time. The girl on the phone calmly worked with me and communicated with other customers to find us a spot in their winter-themed room on EXTREMELY short notice! The room itself is cozy and quaint, and perfect for a romantic getaway. There are beautiful carvings over the mantle, a super comfy bed, and each room has specific theming done quite tastefully. This inn is right along the heart of town, so you don't have to walk far to get anywhere, and yet it still feels perfectly secluded and private, like a forest getaway. 10/10 recommend for any couple's vacation. read more

I've had the pleasure of staying here on four separate occasions over the past few years, and every time has left a lasting impression. The staff is fantastic--always attentive and friendly--and the location is truly outstanding. I have stayed at the Idyllwild Inn many nights in the past month while my house was being renovated. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, as did my dog Rufus! The cabins are cozy and cute and the staff is very personable and helpful. You couldn't be in a better location in Idyllwild if you tried! It is mere feet away from Idyllwild Brewpub, pharmacy, post office, supermarket, Idyllwild Pizza, coffee shop, ice cream shop and less than a five minute walk to Ferro! There is a free bundle of firewood in each cabin and room, since I stayed in the French Country room one night when the cabins were sold out. Each cabin has a patio/deck, a nice, simple kitchen with dishes, utensils and cookware and a great selection of channels on the TV! There's plenty of room outside for walking your dog, a playground for kids and a good amount of parking as well. I live locally and I'm happy to recommend the Inn to all who are interested! read more

I booked a room for the Idyllwild Inn and on checking in, was told our room was at the Strawberry Creek Inn owned by them. We were initially very pleased with Strawberry Creek Inn. However, our Carbon Monoxide detector alarmed in the middle of the night, waking us of course and our neighbors. I called the hotel numbers with no answer but one recording gave an emergency number, but no answer there either, so I left a message asking for a call back but never received one. Now very agitated, my son attempted to sleep in the car out in front and I in the room with the windows open. I found that the back of the CO alarm had a date of 2014, so expired. While there was not likely a threat of death while sleeping in this case, all CO alarms in all rooms from this owner should not be expired but be in proper working order. While the place was nice, what I am paying for and expect is a good night's sleep and did not receive it. read more

Idyllwild Inn is my most fav place in the entire world. I was able to return recently for the first time in five years and it did not disappoint. My little studio cabin was very clean (as usual) and had everything I needed including porches front and back. The kitchen supplied everything I needed and there were plenty of towels. The staff is delightful and very helpful As I don't drive any longer, it is wonderful to be right in the center of town. The Inn's location couldn't be better! My family has been returning to the Idyllwild Inn since the 70's and I intend to continue that tradition. I wish I could give more than five stars!! read more

I don't know if all the cabins are similar but I wanted to note this first. This is in no way a fancy place. The cabins are old and have some features that some would not enjoy. However, you need to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. The Idyllwild Inn is super cheap so you can't be expecting luxury. Anyhow, we enjoyed our stay. The cabin was a nice size and although old it was clean. The bed isn't super comfortable but that would be my only complaint. Every single space was tagged or carved with notes and initials and writing of some sort. Some is inappropriate so if you are easily offended you will not be happy. The employees are nice and check in and out was fast and easy. The Inn is right in town so it is nice to be within walking distance of everyone but if you are looking for something more like a cabin out in the woods by itself this isn't really that. read more

I hope Terry sees this. He is possibly the nicest person I've ever met. He was super helpful and kept me updated while I waited for our VERY last minute cabin. Our Airbnb ran out of propane, so we had no heat, no hot water, and no working stove or oven and had to check out early. I drove over to Idyllwild Inn after we checked out of our original cabin (via Airbnb - not Idyllwild Inn) to see if they were able to accommodate us and had the pleasure of meeting Terry. He is such a wonderful person. He booked us into an incredible cabin, showed me local recommendations, future cabin recommendations that would make life easier while traveling with my pups, and offered the nicest, easiest experience I've ever encountered. It's been a rough year, so meeting someone like Terry put a huge smile on my face and set a positive tone for the remainder of our trip. I highly recommend booking directly through them. It also saves on all the fees that Airbnb charges. There is a lot of negativity in the world, so having the pleasure to book through someone like Terry was a game changer. We need more Terrys in the word. Looking forward to going back in the near future and supporting the Idyllwild Inn :) read more

Stayed in the one bedroom cabin 18 - extended our stay another night because we were having such a wonderful time - what a gem! Walking distance to everything - cute little rustic cabin - had everything we needed (except some wine glasses) felt like we were out of town even though we weren't - this place is so dog friendly! We had our Little min pin w us and he loved it!!! All the places in town are dog friendly too so it's great! Service was excellent- put your towels outside the door in the morning if you want fresh ones, stop by the office for a fire log and more coffee - easy! Slept like a baby! Right next door to Higher Grounds, a terrific coffee house, and close to lots of dining and shopping. The people at the front desk were helpful and friendly. We love staying in the Idyllwild Inn. We have started here twice so far, once in March and once in April 2020. We stayed in the studio and one bedroom. Its close to the market, downtown, and all the restaurants. Love to buy food from the market and cook in the kitchen in the cabins. Although the Inn is centrally located and the staff is friendly. But the rooms are dark, depressing, and in poor repair. I expected a rustic setting but I didn't expect wifi that was so slow it had limited use, huge burn holes in a filthy carpet, threadbare, dingy linens, ants crawling all over the bathroom and an odor in the room that made it hard to breath. I have been wanting to stay in an Idylwild cabin for years and I finally got the chance. All I can say is it was everything I imagined and more! The front desk was amazing,The cabin was clean and had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. I had originally wanted to stay in a cabin but they were all booked . Then I saw they had th New Rustic cabins available. I got #17 and itvworked out perfect for my husband and I because we wanted a romantic getaway and it was just the right size with all the amenities I wanted including the private deck, which I also used as an art studio to paint my painting! the town of Idylwild itself is so charming. Now there's a lot of places to stay in Idylwild but I chose the Idylwild inn because of its very informative website and the reasonable pricing. Also because of its history and location. I hope I can stay gain when it snows because the town is a winter wonderland also! You will love it! read more

Idyllwild Inn is the perfect place to escape from all of life's worries. For years my mom and I have made it a ritual to stay in Cabin #1 every winter. It's a little more isolated than the other cabins, and is the last one on the left up the driveway. The cabins have a quaint, cozy, and rustic feel to them. Additionally, the large decks outside make having a morning coffee even more enjoyable, especially with the views of all the trees and the sweet playground they have there. This inn has a certain atmosphere that cannot be replicated anywhere else (believe me, I've tried Mammoth, Big Bear, etc.). If you're planning to go to Idyllwild and get the whole experience, I HIGHLY suggest staying here. Nowhere comes close to Idyllwild or Idyllwild Inn! P.S. I'm forever grateful to Idyllwild Inn for harboring a decade's worth of memories that I'll remember for the rest of my life. I cherish the times I spent here, and this inn played a huge role in them. I stayed here for the first time and it was an amazing experience! Check in was easy, friendly staff, service was outstanding, and room was impressive. We booked the Camp room and we loved the location. We went Thanksgiving weekend which they do the tree lighting ceremony and it gets super crowded there so it was nice to hear the music and event from our room, to be able to be steps away from restaurants, and its in the heart of everything! I am surprised that the rates are so low considering the location and how clean it is. The fireplace was great. They provided complimentary block of woods and easy fire starter gel package with it, nice heated room if you dont use fireplace, and they have cleaning service every morning if you want them to make the beds and clean which is very nice. The restrooms there are very clean, you have nice and hot water there with no issues of it getting hot and cold, and lots of room for parking for guests. I would definitely book here again and I would highly recommend booking months in advance as this place is a gem and is outstanding!! Checking out was easy as well. Office wasn't open yet since we wanted to beat traffic so we dropped keys off at front office box with no issues. Highly recommend this place and best place we've stayed thus far and we've been going for the last several years every Thanksgiving weekend. read more

Stayed at the Idyllwild Inn for a night this weekend. We drove up from Orange County and immediately realized that this city had way too much to do /explore in one day. We walked in to the Idyllwild inn and it just so happened that they had a cancellation for one of their studio suites so we took it. We came back an hour later and got the key. The suite was clean and neat and smelled fresh. There were fresh towels in the bathroom and everything needed to cook a meal in the kitchen. There is no A/C but we were pleased to find 2 fans in the closet. We immediately fell in love with cabin # 9's rustic charm. There are hundreds of carvings on the wood paneled walls where lovers and visitors to the cabin proclaim their love, document milestones, and just make fun. These carvings go back decades. The oldest I could find was from 1949, but I'm sure there were older ones. For me, the carvings were my favorite detail; fun and romantic glimpse into the past . We spent at least an hour reading all the messages and tried to find the oldest ones. The bed was comfy but my husband does prefer a firmer mattress. This particular cabin is right next to the road but we didnt have any issues with noise. We liked that it was so close to the center of town near all the restaurants and shops. We hiked a few trails and visited Fulmor lake. Which were also close by. Overall we had a fantastic time in this town and really loved our little "love shack" suite. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to get away from the fast paced city and the face melting heat of the summer. We plan on visiting again very soon. read more

We recently stayed at this beautiful place for the first time for Spring Break..and we were very impressed! We were in cabin 20..one of the new rustic suites. I am huge on cleanliness and our cabin was extremely clean. The little kitchen worked out great for us...the pictures I had previously viewed didn't do it justice. The little refrigerator even had a decent size freezer space that fit my ice packs for the trip home. The stove also had an oven that came in handy as well as the microwave, toaster, coffee pot, etc. We stayed 3 nights and were amazed at how serene and tranquil the surroundings were. Even though the rustic suite shared a wall with the one next door, our neighbors were quiet and respectful. The Inn provides one set of firewood with kindling and a firestarter pack for the first night...when we needed more kindling for our second night, they kindly gave us more and another firestarter for no additional cost. We explored the quaint town and had a great breakfast one day at The Red Kettle and a fabulous take out dinner one night at the Italian restaurant. We also loved the fact that you can pull your car up right in front of each cabin, very convenient and easy for packing and unpacking. We truly had a relaxing time and were truly impressed. We would highly recommend it and would definitely come back! read more
