No one likes going to the doctor, but the atmosphere here is extremely welcoming so you are put at ease. I have been coming to Dr. Sonja Makitan for the past three years and she is wonderful. She knows her stuff, listens to you, and is very good at explaining what is going on and what you need to do in simple terms. She is very thorough and cares about her patients. I have dry eye disease and her suggested care regime has absolutely been helping. Most importantly, she is reasonable and knows we are all not likely to do everything we are supposed to. She always says "progress not perfection." I truly appreciate this type of bedside manner and it makes me want to be proactive in my eye care.

So I was going to try them again thinking because of their closure during covid they would afford me with at least one more chance to a different pair of lenses since I paid $185 for a year of service Well to my surprise they are not willing to work with me. They will charge another $185 ( or more) to do contact lenses trial and exam. I was told by another eye care company that I wasn't a fit for contacts, but this doc at Battleground assured me I was. I tried 2 different pairs when I first got started and they didn't work. I kinda gave up but also had other concerns( back surgery) that were more pressing. I think the doctor made a bad choice saying I was able to use contact lenses and now I dont know what to think since they never gave me the full year that I paid for. Very disappointed.

Within their practice, they can examine, diagnose, and treat you, as well as fit you for beautiful eyewear. This is all at the same location. Since I have a unique eye condition, I have found it difficult to be treated. However, Dr. Johnson and her colleagues are so specialized, that I have no worries in their care. Their staff are meticulous when it comes to notes and following up as well. In the last few years, there have been a few times when I forgot the name of something or some instructions. All it took was a call to their office, and I was easily reminded because they had it all on record. How awesome is that?! Well worth the small extra fee. When I first started using contact lenses they included some much needed, hands on lessons on putting them on. They reached out to me a few days later to see how things were going. When they learned I was still struggling they asked me to come back in so they could give me some pointers and practice with them watching. SO helpful! They are dedicated to outstanding customer/patient service. From their overall demeanor to their willingness to help with insurance to their happy personas... they make every visit to the eye doctor a pleasant experience. Their dedication to quality is noticeable as you enter the building too... super clean and well kept with nothing out of place. Twice now I've developed eye infections over the last few years. Both times, despite being on a Friday, they were able to work me in for a quick medical visit and get me prescription drops so I would be good as new by Monday.

Pros: the office is clean, staff is nice and prompt, and we're usually in and out in a timely manner. Since Covid, they ship contacts straight to your house since of office pick ups. Cons: a while back I had to cancel my December appt because I had Covid, and they weren't able to schedule me again until March. After a few dialogues they did provide sample packs of contacts until that time. Fast forward to this year: I had a baby and missed my yearly deadline (somehow they send reminders to my husband and not to me). But anywho-another 3 month wait for an eye exam and refusal to provide any sample contacts. We now have appointments made within 2 weeks at another facility. Fortunately for them they're doing great business, however it's unfortunate for their existing and long term patients.
