Where do I even start? The fantastic pizza? The BYOB policy? That it's a dog friendly dining place? Well let's start off with the service. I've been here twice now and I've never dealt with poor service both times so I'm a little confused as to how other reviews had unfortunate experiences. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly lady who was asking if we if it was our first time there and that she would try to seat us right away. After noticing we were carrying a brown bag (beer, obvi) she immediately asked us if we wanted an ice bucket to chill the beer. Thought that was nice. This is basically a self service establishment. You order, pay and get seated. There are wine glasses, water and paper cups available at a table where you can grab whatever you need. I love this idea because I personally drink water like there's no tomorrow and get so annoyed when I have to look for a waiter to fill up my glass. This do-it-yourself idea makes things easy breezy. After looking at the many choices we decided on the Alice and the Diavola and oh my gosh we were blown away by the Alice. I don't know if it's the combination of using fresh tomatoes along with the goat cheese/parmesan but holy moly was it good. I was a bit surprised because I usually require some sort of meat on my pizzas and this had no such thing so I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. Unfortunately I wasn't swept away by the Diavola--don't have anything to rave about this pizza but also don't have anything negative to say about it either. It was just okay. So after finishing up the pizzas we weren't exactly full. Yea yea, call me a pig or what not but I was curious about the other pizzas so umm yea...we ordered another pizza. This time we got the Italiana (I love sundried tomatoes) and this did not disappoint. The olives, sundried tomatoes, and artichoke pesto just worked SO perfectly together that I couldn't stop sighing contently after every.single.bite. It's a tie b/w the Alice and Italiana for me--both are winners. I've been to 2 Amys and Matchbox and this place is numero uno when it comes to Neapolitan cuisine. I had a craving for the Alice this evening, so I decided to walk on over to Iggies and get one. I've been to Iggies several times before and have yet to be disappointed. I've tried a few different types of their pizzas in the past but fell in love with Alice. So instead of working on my paper that's due tomorrow, I think I'll write this review. Iggies is a BYOB restaurant and is self serve--pick up your own plates and utensils, and clear the table when you're done. I prefer this style, because it saves spending money on a tip (I am a broke student). There is outdoor seating available, but it's sparse with only three tables. The pizzas are unique, and the ingredients are always fresh--but I do wish they were larger. I do always leave with a light feeling, unlike that heavy feeling I get when I eat piazza from other places, but for the amount Iggies gives you I feel like the prices should be a bit lower. A small pizza will run you $10 and some change. That's my only gripe though. But I guess you pay for quality. read more

Iggies is an awesome place to dine out. If you are a fan of thin crust, this is your best bet in Baltimore. The restaurant is BYOB. Prices are reasonable if you get a large instead of a personal size. I personally like the Alice and the Margarita the best. The fancy salt they sprinkle on top really makes the sauce pop. All ingredients are incredibly fresh. It gets busy around 6pm during the week and around 8pm you can walk right in with no line. They are closed on Mondays. Crowds start forming around noon on weekends. The gelato is great for dessert and the caesar salad is top notch with anchovies and homemade croutons. If you aren't a fan of anchovies, you can get it without and it is still worth it. The staff is friendly and the time it takes to make the pizza is minimal. When I'm in the area again, I will be going back! read more

Ummm, I thought this place was a legend of sorts. When my friend suggested we eat here I was all kinds of excited. The menu was wicked limited. I ordered a Caesar salad with extra olives (nope, can't do that), extra hots (nope, can't do that) and extra anchovies (yep, got those and they were awesome - hence the extra star). You have to clear your own table. Don't make the mistake of getting up to leave without doing so. All and all, slightly odd vibe, like you need to understand the protocol before you order. I guess keep your expectations low and you should be all right. Next time, if there is a next time, I will try the pizza instead as salads are not their strong suit. read more

We were looking for some quick (and good) pizza while we were running around the Baltimore Washington area and I stumbled upon Iggie's on Yelp. What a fantastic find, and where do I even begin?! All of the other reviews about the pizza are spot on- fresh made thin crust with fresh, innovative, and creative ingredient pairings that are (from what I will assume) all delicious. I had the Cipolla, a pizza where the red onion confit replaces the sauce (sweet surprise and amazing), and the pancetta atop the ricotta and mozzarella was perfect. As for some of the negative reviews about the service, we didn't have a problem and were actually very impressed with the way that they run their business. We went in on a Sunday afternoon, so it was probably slower than usual, but we didn't see a problem with getting our own utensils and busing our own table. We actually preferred it because we didn't have to wait for a member of the staff to get us something that wasn't readily available or that we needed more of. Our food was ready very quickly and we were more than willing to add to their tip jar, which isn't for tips, but rather a pot of money to go to the charity of the month they are supporting- something I wish more businesses would do to support the community. The last thing I will add about this gem of a place is that they don't readily advertise their desserts, but my boyfriend surprised me by ordering some of their cannolis- INCREDIBLE. The pastry was perfectly crisp, the creamy filling was not too heavy, and the ends are dipped in pistachios, which was a genius and delicious treat. If Iggie's ever comes out west, I would probably go bankrupt ordering their food every chance I got, but it would definitely be worth it. read more

The thin, but chewy, crust is delicious, and has just the right amount of sauce and cheese every time. This is a great little pizza place that I wish I had known about sooner! I had the Italian which was really good, and tried the pear one (can't remember the name) and it was a little overwhelmed by the cheese. Busy on the weekends, but it does offer outside seating, which is nice. Noticed many BYOB's, which I could get behind. Where Baltimore gets good pizza. It pushed 70 degrees on Friday and everyone in Mount Vernon was out and about so my friends and I went to Iggies hoping to sit outside and enjoy pizza, wine and the weather. Unfortunately, they hadn't set up their outdoor seating (okay, I'll cut them a break - it was mid-February) and there was a huge wait to sit inside. Well worth it. The pizza was incredible, they have tons of gourmet toppings and you know everyone in the city thinks Iggies is at the top of the pizza world. It's totally BYOB, so while we waited to get seated we went to the wine shop by the Washington Monument and each got a bottle. My friend Julie has recently come back from traveling in Europe and said Iggies rivaled the best pizza she had oversees. I was super impressed and most definitely will be back again. read more

I, unlike Mr. Harry who has his panties in a wad, got along with everyone there. I think Harry just isn't personable. I came here with my fiance, who just so happens to be the biggest pizza fan ever. As soon as I walked into Iggie's, my nostrils were in ecstasy as they took in the wonderful aroma from the pizza. I knew I was in for a treat. My fiance and I met up with my best friend's parents so we ended up getting 2 pizzas: Alice (yes, that's the actual name of one of the pizzas) and Diavola. I never thought something named Alice would smell so good. Let me tell you about Alice. Alice was a pizza with Pesto, Mozzarella, Tomato, Garlic Spinach, Goat Cheese (YUM), and Parmesan. This pizza was fantastic. So flavorful. The tomatoes were as fresh as you could get, and what isn't good with goat cheese on it?! That's right...nothing. My fiance likes pizza with lots of tomato sauce, and even though Alice had none on her, my fiance loved that pizza like a fat kid loves cake. Now, about Diavola. Diavola had Spicy Sausage, Tomato Ragu, 4 cheeses, Olives, and Hot Peppers. Another flavorful pizza with some Jackie Chan kick to it. Not as good as Alice in my opinion, but it was still really good. So, there were still a couple of slices left. We boxed it up, and started heading back home. At a light, I saw a hungry homeless man. He looked like he needed some pizza so I gave him what slices we had left. I'm sure he'd agree with my review of Iggie's. read more

Fabulous pizza, one of the best (possibly the best) in my lifetime. It really was that good. We ate here on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. It was a warm, beautiful late spring day, a relatively cool day after several days of high heat, and the place was almost empty. I understand from the owner and my daughter that the place is packed on Friday and Saturday nights, which would be frustrating for me: this pizza is so good, I wouldn't want to wait for it. On the recommendation of the owner, we had the Alice pizza. He said it was the most popular pizza and that it accounts for 30% of their pizza sales. It was just outstanding. It was a bit oily, but that is part of why it tasted so good. It is a BYOB place, and they provided a large bucket with ice to chill our beer. We ate outside on the sidewalk, ok maybe not the most charming and scenic place, but quite comfortable. It actually was a perfect scene: munching on amazingly delicious pizza, quaffing cold beers, enjoying time with family, and taking in the Mt. Vernon scene. probably the best pizza i've had in baltimore. about a year ago, i heard a rumor that they were moving locations to Towson or somewhere, so my friends and i were like "oh no, we need to go again before it moves" and yet.. they're still here. Maybe they spread the rumor to make people go get it again! TRICKSY! sneaky little hobbitses! anyways.. i'm glad that i went back because each time i've been, the pizza was simply amazing. Some really good pizza's: anatra, funghi, alice love the thin crust/bread. reminds me kinda of NY pizza I do like to save money where I can, so the price you're paying (kinda pricey) for the size of pizza you get (kinda small) isn't the best here; however, it's worth it! With its pesto base, goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, spinach and tomatoes, the Alice is not only my favorite pizza, but also entirely vegetarian, and for a sworn carnivore, this is quite a feat in of itself. But meat eaters do not despair; some of the most delectable meats can be found as toppings too. Pizzas with perfectly thin crusts, innovative topping combinations and a menu that puts out a new pizza each month keep me coming back to see what's new. Prices are high, but the quality *almost* makes up for it. Take $1 or $2 off the prices and I would have NO complaints. Went to get some pizza and check out the hype and this place did not disappoint! Their pizza's all looked very well crafted, but we ordered the Salsiccia pizza with a side Iggy's salad. The pizza (thin crust) was great and very unique!! A large one with the salad fed two average sized people with 2 slices to spare. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other pizza's we saw! The ingredients all looked (and tasted) incredibly fresh, which is surprising for the very reasonable prices. Most people seemed to have caught on to the BYOB here, which I should've put more effort into planning for. They have wine glasses, ice, and ice buckets to facilitate your BYOB dreams. I'm from California so this is a whole new concept to me and I thought it was an awesome convenience! This hip, small-ish restaurant is definitely worth a try for any pizza lover (or group of lovers... er, pizza lovers). It took me years to make it to Iggies after hearing so many great things and I wasn't disappointed. I came on a Friday night and the place was packed. Despite, how crowded it was they moved the line pretty quickly. I ordred a large pizza, half Alice and half Cipolla. The Cipolla half was absolutely incredible, the Alice was good but not on the same level as the Cipolla. The pizza was thin crust and pretty light. The only knock I would have is that Iggies is seriously expensive pizza (minus 1 star). I would recommend and will definitely repeat. read more

I know the pizza is made w quality ingredients and the topping combos are artisinal. I can't exactly put my finger on what's missing here. I had the duck pizza as well as another pizza with bacon and some kind of balsamic sauce. Both were really good! My favorite part was the crust! Perfect thin crust. I was on a date and although my date is a picky fella, he raved about the pizza. Also, they were very dog friendly. Every single person I've brought here has attested to the quality of the pizzas and has had a enjoyable experience. My own experience is one that it's slightly over-rated but good enough to not warrant pedantry. The must-try pizzas are the "Roasted Duck" one on the menu and the "Sei formaggi" [Mozzarella, parmigiana, goat cheese, fontina asiago, ricotta and black pepper]. Enjoy this place.
