Was very surprised to see a pretty low yelp rating of this place... How come? It was the best value for the seafood I've ever gotten. We ordered ahi tuna and red snapper for entrees, about $25 each, and they were HUGE, as so DELICIOUS, and so were the garnishes. Drinks are very moderately priced, too. Not even close to what we were told. Wife and I ordered beef Kabobs and some Nachos. Both were cold but the nachos were cold like they were left out over night. Of course they were replaced. I never send back food in fear of my food being spit in. But I digress. Now what really set us off however is the bartenders reaction when we told him where we were from. He told us he was here from Portland and came here for the sun. I then responded that this is better than Portland then. He must have been offended by the compliment I gave him by his great choice of move to where the sun was because when I told him we were from North Tacoma he made a face of disgust and said we must like methamphetamines. I was almost speechless but asked when was the last time he was on the mainland. He said recently and followed up with disbelief that Tacoma wasn't a drug capital. Yum! Yum! Yum! All-you-can-eat crab legs on Tuesday night everyone! And they tasted fresh. In case you are not familiar with island prices, $29 is a steal! It comes with cornbread that is pretty darn good, some peas and rice and a small corn on the cob. The place was recommended by locals (mainly because of the special)...it's on the beach and has a cool atmosphere, like it came straight out of some old 60's beach/surfer tv show! I read some of the other reviews and....Yes people, the service is slow...you are in the islands for crying out loud!!!! Just expect this and you will enjoy yourself more! Relax, grab a beer or a "lime in da coconut" drink and get ready to devour some crab legs!!! Also expect to carry bug repellent with you to any outdoor place in the VI unless it's a super breezy night.... Our host brought us here because we wanted a quick meal with a view and we got that and some. Good Fish Tacos for me and the view was really incredible with palm trees and beach. Heck our table was on the beach literally and it was absolutely gorgeous. They had those absolutely wonderful large rum drinks that you have to drink in the islands. Came here a few nights for dinner and was staying at the resort next door (Watergate Villas) and two nights in a row we got denied service as they were only taking guests that were staying at resort w reservations when told we could just come. We were really intrigued by the pictures and ads all around the island boasting a fun time at Iggie's (carneval pix are plastered all throughout the island and on their website) so we ventured on down on a Saturday night and found it to be quite ... Dead. There were about 2 or 3 other tables (counting both the indoor and outdoor tables on the sand), and a live band playing many songs that I can't name, quite possibly their own. We really debated leaving right away, but decided to stay and give it a chance since we were already there and did not have Internet service to look up another spot. Sat down and asked the waitress to take out orders (she walked by several times). She was nice, but maybe unsure we were there to eat? We ordered a chicken quesadilla and their coconut shrimp and a (virgin) pina colada for sharing. Both the chicken quesadilla and coconut shrimp were absolutely delicious. They were generous with the chicken and cheese in the quesadilla, but kind of skimped on the quantity of shrimp. We slowly sipped and munched on our orders, but that's only because we were trying to really get ourselves into vacation mode. Rather inexpensive meal - prices range from cheap to fair. The sound of the water hitting the shore and the non-bug-infested beach area was a really nice back-drop for our night. There is a parking lot available, but it doesn't look extremely safe so I recommend that you take all valuables with you and don't leave it in the car. read more

It was cool to be outside, right near the beach--even considering the day's rain that happened earlier. There was a live band playing country music, which provided a great vibe. Iggie's is located near Red Hook, towards the East End of St. Thomas. The restaurant sits on the beach, overlooking a small inlet. We visited for dinner and drinks one night recently. For an appetizer, we tried the calamari. It was too peppery for my taste, but others may like. We also had the mahi mahi sandwich and coconut shrimp. The 1 major problem I have with this place is the wait time. Came here 3 times because I was staying at Bolongo. All 3 times we waited 10-20 min for water or drink and about 60-90 min for food. Once waited 25 min before being told the kitchen was out of that item, then waited 60 min for the changed order. There isnt much to do in st thomas in terms of night life so as far as this being the place to be, I guess it has to suffice. The ambiance is cool, beach front with island vibes and local as well as resort guests. The drinks arent bad, the macho brownie is good, service is mediocre, they may run out of silverware, they may not ask you to replinish your beverages, they may bring you room temperature food. Management tries to accomodate you, but they should train the staff on appropriate customer service. read more

I just came back from a week at Bolongo Bay resort, and the staff at the resort was tremendous. Unfortunately, Iggie's staff was not up to par. Because we stayed there, it was convenient to eat/drink on site much of the time. We consistently experienced half-hour waits for drinks and an hour wait for food. The servers and bartenders had an "I don't care" attitude and several of them were downright rude. The only reason I give them two stars and not one is the fact that the food (although extremely delayed and sometimes incorrect) was actually very good. I highly recommend the tuna burger, which is actually a meaty tuna steak on a bun. I ordered it several times and was cooked to perfection every time. I hope they are able to get their staff in line as I expect to see many more poor reviews based on the volume of people complaining about the service while on site. read more

The magi mahi burger is delicious! Sweet potato fries... excellent! Waiters attitude... terrible. He got an attitude because I asked him to replace the weak ass frozen drink that he insisted has alcohol in it. "But you can't taste the alcohol in frozen drinks!" He replaced the drink and then practically threw my dinner plate on the table before turning to walk away! Expensive Caribbean restaurants should have decent help. This is not one! read more

My wife and I were going to St.Thomas and with me being a travel agent I started doing research months ahead to see where we would eat and what kind of stuff we wanted to do. Then I came across the website for Iggie's and we decided instantly we would eat here. Its not too often that my wife and I pass up crab legs, especially if they are all-u-can-eat. The atmosphere was really cool. an open air restaurant and a open air bar around the corner. As far as the food goes, you can do any better than $35.00 per person for all-u-can-eat King Crab legs. We enjoyed probably about 3-4 servings each..I mean we didn't eat most of the day because we knew we were going to pig out later that night. They gave us our food with a bucket and a roll of paper towels. They came buy and replenished our crab and cleaned out our bucket without us even asking. When we got dropped off there by the cab, it seems like you are walking into the woods or something but then when you walk around the corner everything looks amazing. When we sat down we decided to sit by the stage because there was no one there on stage. Well, that change about 20min into dinner. They had some karaoke and we ended up right by the stage for the show. I mean it really was not a show because a local came up and sang every song. Once we started drinking we "kinda" had enough of his little show he was doing, so we went to the bar around the corner. After we were done with the crab legs we could barley walk. But, we ended up at a table by the bar and it was really cool. Its right on the beach. We had a few beers and walked on the beach a little bit, but we saw some crabs running around by our feet so we went back into the bar. They might have known that we just devoured a couple of his relatives. They had hammocks on the beach and all the servers/waiters/bartenders were amazingly friendly. We may stay here at the hotel Bolongo Bay Resort next time we are in town because it was really nice...from what we saw.
