We've tried to eat here twice (at off times) and the wait times are ridiculous. Today we waited for 20 minutes and then someone came out and told us it would be another 20-30 because the kitchen was backed up. Most of the restaurant was empty, so they obviously don't plan staff well or don't know how to handle a small crowd. 20+ people got up and left. I'm curious how management justifies turning away so many customers. Needless to say, we won't be giving it a third try. read more

Super slow and unorganized. Go to one of the many restaurants nearby. The parking lot was good and that's about it.

Go to McDonalds instead. The restaurant was half empty but there was still a wait. The server was pleasant but the food took atleast 30-40 minutes. When inquiring about it we were told they were short on cooks. Don't waste your time and get McDonalds hot cakes. read more

The waitress we had(Terri) was amazing. She was extremely nice, fast with what we asked for, and an overall amazing waitress. Our bill was 40 but we tipped her 30 because of her amazing service. She was so grateful and kept thanking us for 20. So I decided to leave her a little more. The food was delicious as well but the service there is what left it's impression on me. Absolute incompetence. I came in alone to this IHOP location at 9:15am on a Sunday, waiting area was not full but had folks waiting. Put my name in, was told 15 minutes, I looked to dining area...at least 20 booths completely open, the restaurant was not even half full and they were giving wait times...more insulting was the fact a hightop bar seating area for single diners was completely open just 5 feet from the hostess. 0 stars. This is the worst ihop that I have ever been to and I will never come here again. I ordered the breakfast sampler with no sausage just bacon and they messed up on it 3 times. They gave me a pancake instead of a waffle, forgot the ham and also requested the bacon off my plate because she forgot the ham. Then the waitress came back to the table on the 3rd time and said "oh she messed up again" and for me to give her some of the food off my plate. The manager was no help and tried to justify what the waitress was doing. I tried to explain what the menu said and she still didn't understand. Ate there once, took 45 minutes to get my food and it was cold when it arrived. Not to mention my wife and I got our food while my 2 year old waited an additional 5 minutes with nothing in front of him. I have ordered Togo as well 5 times. Every single time my order was incorrect. Wrong order. Order not right. Last time my sons french toast wasn't even there, now the food is cold because I waited for the French toast to get done. I realize that this is a new IHOP, but it does not take a genius to prepare their employees for the food service industry. We stopped off on our way further south. Now let me say that I have been in the Hospitality field for over 20 years. When we walked in we were greeted by the amazing host Antonio. He was very friendly and had a beautiful smile. He even took our empty coffee cups that we carried in from the car and discarded them for us. But that is where it ended. We had Christine as a server. She really didn't seem happy to have customers. I knew it wasn't just us because she treated the table across from us the same way. The coffee she brought us was watery like she was cleaning the pot and left half the water in and just added coffee. We tried to call her over to get a different coffee but I guess her guest was more important because she decided to ignore us and go talk to her. She didn't decide to be attentive until Antonio came back over to get us more coffee. She brought it back and it was still watery. We got our food and it was lukewarm. We ate some and decided to pack it up. That is when Christine decided to be attentive and friendly. We gave Antonio the tip and said he can share it if he pleased and left. Christine needs to find another field. And Antonio needs to be promoted. He was the best thing about my visit. read more

The food is standard IHOP, which I like. What I don't like is the service. They definitely need to better train the wait staff. On two occasions ordering has been a painful experience. You order say a couple eggs and a short stack of pancakes and you get, "no you can't order that, because its not one of the packages". Any other IHOP lets you order what you want, and ultimately after arguing with the waitress this IHOP does the same, but why do I have to argue with the waitress in order to get my order out. The first time I visited this new Aberdeen IHOP was early on a weekday morning and all was well, it was quiet, it was clean, the coffee sucked. Okay, well everything else was good enough to bring the family back on the weekend and it was a little more crowded, but that wasn't an issue-at least not for us. The servers seemed flustered. Now to be fair, the food was fine, I even had a cook ask me if my grits were good and they were. The service was okay, but the attitudes were not. Let me exonerate our actual server because we were treated fairly. But you wanna hear my grievances, why I gave this place two stars so here you go: It comes down to an unprofessional attitude, even for an IHOP. As soon as we walked in we encountered a manager on the phone dealing with something, I'm sure he uttered a somewhat insincere greeting before summoning an obviously disgruntled server to seat us. In the short time and effort it took to seat us in a booth at our request, I'd felt like she was put off and couldn't be bothered. But wasn't this her job?? Still, it's not a bad dining experience because of one employee who is having a less than pleasant morning apparently. But it seemed like everybody wearing a red IHOP shirt was wearing a matching scowl. My wife mentioned that the servers didn't appear very friendly with each other either. But it's a criteria of the service industry to at least try and bring enjoyment to the experience... and I know it's early and I'm not a morning person myself, but that's why it's so much more important! I wondered, perhaps there are forces unseen by me keeping this place from its glory. It's not my place to know though. Perhaps two stars might be harsh, but three might be generous. I would be optimistic that I could have a better experience here in the future, on perhaps a better day for everyone. After all, the food here is generous, standard American fare slathered in butter wherever possible on a plate. I would not say, however, that I'm awful optimistic about them getting that chance any time soon. After all, this was their second impression. It did not go so well. Service takes forever!!! One order of food was cold. Another order they forgot the bacon and tomatoes and to top it off the Turkey and stuffing meal was very dry. This was a nice place for breakfast however this morning I was highly disappointed. Young men and women working with no direct oversight by management. Most were huddled around front desk on cell phones and or talking trash to each other. I sat 15 mins before anyone even asked what I wanted to drink and the place was pretty empty. I'm rating this IHOP specifically on service and food quality/prep since the menu is exactly the same as other IHOP restaurants (being a national chain). I visited this location with my son and the service was less than spectacular. My order arrived literally 15-20 minutes after my son's and he was almost done eating by the time mine arrived. The last few times we've been to this restaurant for breakfast I'd have to say it is awful. The cook insists on cooking on a grill/skillet that's to hot, resulting in burnt hash browns, burnt around the edges eggs, and burnt sausage or under cooked bacon. My hash browns were cold so the waitress touches it to confirm I was telling the truth. The same exact hasbrowns that she touched with her bare hands came back obviously nuked in the microwave. I have been to this location several times. Everytime I come it's horrible service. I did come a few weeks ago and Summer was wonderful. I came around dinner time instead of breakfast time. My experience today was awful. I was sat by the out door. My daughter and I waited a good 5 minutes b4 our server came to us and then waited another 5 minutes for our drinks. I keep trying to give this place a shot but if summer is not working when I come, I'm walking out. I understand this isn't fine dinning and it's ihop (what can you expect) but please get it together. I'm a server myself and the way you treat your guest I would never do. I would be ashamed to work in a place like this. Please have more people like summer. Terri was not the best of the best. **long rant warning** I WORKED HERE. DONT EVER WORK HERE. The food is mediocre at best, some servers are wonderfull people and some just arent. They got several complaints that the front way smelled like a bathroom and didnt do anything about it. I was often tasked with sweeping as side work and the broom was terrible and would often leave peices of the bristles behind, so the floors never got well swept. Many of the people here have commented on how the managers arent helpful and i wish i could tell them theyre wrong. One of the managers is unprofessional and doesn't understand how social anxiety works. I've been talked down to by servers because i didnt seat their section (i broke out in tears because i was just doing what i was told and all the sudden a server is going at me "why did you seat her instead of me, i'm next"). I've been sent home forty minutes into my shift because they could only have 3 hostesses, and eventually they stopped giving me hours all together. I went in one day after a horrible week to talk to the manager and try to get hours, and said, "i gave you hours last week, but you gave them up." My fiance's grandfather had recently passed away and i attended the funeral but it was my fault that i had called out for the funeral. One manager had said a belittling thing about police officers when they had finished their meals and had left, and i'm certain that since it was loud enough to be heard by me than it could have been heard by others as well. The owner, Don, is really great guy though and was nothing but kind, wonderfull and understanding when i talked to him and one of the managers, Alex was absolutely wonderful as well. I have no hard feelings towards the owner or Alex because they are wonderfull people, but if you value your dignity dont work here. I would also say dont eat here because of what others have said about this place because they are all true. They wont seat you unless your entire is there (even if there is like no one in the store), it takes forever to get served depending on what server you have, it isnt the cleanest, and the food is mediocre at best as i have previously stated. Decided to take the family out to breakfast, figured we would check out this newly constructed IHOP. Now I know that IHOP isn't a 5 star restaurant. But my experience here this morning was nothing short of unacceptable. Waited 25 minutes for about half of our food of which was cold as ice. The waitress claimed that our food was taking so long because she was waiting for the "toast" to finish. I've attached a photo of this "toast" so you can see for yourself how it's literally just white bread. Not toasted at all. I found a piece of some unrecognizable burnt chunks inside of my omelette which at that point I had lost my appetite. This is an abysmal excuse for a family restaurant and you're better off going the extra mile to a different restaurant. read more

Came here for breakfast- family of 6. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted at our table, another 15 minutes to get our drinks, the server dropped drinks while serving them, and about 45- 1hr after placing our order to get our food. After waiting to get the food, it came out cold and half of the orders came out wrong and not made as requested so while 4 of us ate cold food, 2 meals were in the kitchen being fixed. We spoke to the manager about it and he didn't apologize or do anything to make us happy customers. Never will we eat at Aberdeen IHOP again, we will take are money to Edgewood or Belair.
