To IHop's credit, they do make the best pancakes. The hamburger that I ordered was supposed to have serrano peppers in it but only had jalapeños. That was a big disappointment since it was the whole reason I ordered it. The waitress did not check back to see if we needed anything else. We actually waved her down to get more water and flavored pancake syrup. I would have understood if they were busy, but it wasn't. read more

Hey IHOP, let's take a moment and learn a little about common sense and customer service, two areas you are severely lacking in. 1. Don't blow smoke up our ass with lies about why a menu item isn't available. 2. Don't roll your damn eyes when you get caught in said lie and hear a request to speak with your manager. 3. Don't present a 'manager' (very loose term here) and have him say 'I can make your gluten free pancakes, but you need to know why we don't prepare them today'. We don't need to know anything other than can you or can you not prepare something on your menu (go back and reread #1). 4. After voicing a legitimate complaint about a printed menu item continuously not being available simply for the reason you don't wish to prepare it, don't end the conversation with "I'm just going to make your pancakes ok?" And then storm off. No, not ok, especially if another item was already ordered. If something for an allergy sensitive person isn't available, that is fine, we can work with that. But to be complete asshats about it, avoid coming back to the table, and purposely slow the preparation of food just to pitch a fit like a child is completely unacceptable. Complete failure. Went on a Friday night. The restaurant was your typical ihop, a few families with loud/crying babies. There is a "hoppy hour" from 2pm-10pm with a few $6 and $3.5 melas and snacks. The staff was limited but they did their best and kept a smile on their faces as business began to pick up. The order was correct and taste like your average diner style eatery. read more

wow, let's my just say as far as food goes it was standard but the service is the reason it has one star. The waiter talked to us as if we were part of his gang rather then his customers. My mother asked for a coffee and was basically just given whip cream. Also we had sat down for 15 before we even got out drink. When we first sat down he would tell us how much he loved working at ihop and just gave us a whole story before letting us order our drinks. I'm not from the area, so my boyfriend may want to ask some of his co-workers where else to go for breakfast on Sundays. To me, IHOP was the only place to go for breakfast in Alexandria. It took 20 minutes to get seated, but that was better than expected considering the number of folks waiting. The service was very good. We had nice and friendly waitress that got our orders right. I have been to this location on multiple occasions was greeted and seated promptly. Erin was my waitress took drink order right away; my food was brought out within 10 minutes of ordering was cooked properly. I might also add was here Saturday night after 10 pm with large group we were seated quickly orders taken food brought out in a very reasonable time frame all orders were correct nothing left off and cooked as they should have been. These are the HAPPIEST Waitresses that I've ever dealt with! They are prompt and so friendly! The will even sweep the floor while you are sitting at the table and make sure not to hit you with the broom! I would love to say any of these things are true... as an IHOP it's terrible. The servers are slow and no attentive, they sweep under your table after you sit down and you are hit with the broom. The hostess was asleep at the podium and never said a word as we were being sat. Our waitress never checked on us after we received our food. And the overall attitude of the servers was not what I've come to expect from IHOP. I was never offered a refill on my water. The waitress decided to clean off our table mid way through the meal. Took all the silverware and napkins just leaving us with our plates and food still on it. I have been eating at IHOP location most of my life. I'm sorry to say I ate at this location.... the place needs a "face lift", a repaint cleaning and staff change. Hearing the staff fight with each other as thay leave and the next shift couldn't even keep there eyes open or speek to the customers as thay pay the bill...not a good time. Two friends and I came here after a long day of hiking. Staff was friendly enough, and they were very good at getting us refills, but WOW do the cooks not take pride in their work. One of my friends got the wrong order, and the other found hair in his food. Mine was the only one that was alright. 1 out of 3 isn't particularly good when it comes to food. Table was sticky, and one of the waiters smelled very strongly of cigarettes. While our waitress was polite enough, she clearly didn't enjoy her job. Maybe she was just having a bad day, who knows. Our visit to this location of IHOP was about 9-10 pm on a Saturday so the dinner crowd had come and gone well before our arrival. We were immediately seated and drink orders were taken. The wait staff seemed friendly enough, but the furniture and seats all had some pretty big gashes and holes in them. The appetizer came out of the kitchen quickly and was pleasing to the group. Our main entrees were all just par for the group of foods we were eating from. Nothing stood out. Nothing was was bland or tasteless, but there was no pride in the workmanship of the quality of the food here. Just par. Enjoyable, and filling enough with friends though.
