I didn't notice this place being dirty like others did.. we went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy. Our waitress was so nice, she was always checking to see if we needed anything and she even broght us drinks to go as we were leaving. She was funny too. I have to echo some of the comments made by Jeremy B. The waiting staff delivers your experience, and in the case of this IHOP in Alexandria, you definitely get a sense of a bad one. Don't go on a Sunday morning - I think we all know from experience that going to ANY diner after morning congregation is just a catastrophe waiting to happen. Large waits, out-of-this-and-thats, and unattended babies wailing at the table next to yours. This IHOP's interior is especially unkempt and you're better off going to a Waffle House in a decent neighborhood. Worst Service Ever. Not only was my order not ready when I came to pick it up, but they kept telling me it would be ready in 10 minutes, but I ended up waiting an hour to get my order. They also claimed to not have all the ingredients for my omelette, and even said that they were out of burgers when I arrived at the restaurant. Then told me I had to request my refund online. My husband and I came to this location at 9:20pm on Friday night, and waited for an hour before we approached our waitress to inquire about the status of our food. Apparently there was drama in the kitchen. There were several staff members standing around, waiting for the orders to come out. We overheard some yelling, but not one staff member came to our table to explain what was taking so long for our food, and no one offered us refills while we waited. We also heard a staff member say "we don't have a cook!" We walked up to our waitress to ask about our food, who told us they were waiting for one more piece of our order, and we finally decided to leave, asking her to cancel our order. We went here for breakfast Sat morning @ 1010, there was 1 other group ahead of us. We were told 15 min wait, after 20 min I went to the hostess and she told me it would be an additional 20 minutes! There were several empty tables, they said the kitchen was backed up but the seated another couple 3-4 people down the list from us ahead of us, then tell me I have to wait another 30 min! The waitress didn't even introduce herself, I got her name off of the receipt. Booths are all broken, I was uncomfortable the whole time because it felt like I was sitting on a broken piece of wood. Drinks were never refilled. After eating I had to suck on the ice cubes because no one would give us any refills. Waiter continues to ignore our table. My pancakes were great, but my boyfriend's burger was bland. The last time I was here I swore to never come back because of the fist fight that broke out and was not dealt with properly. Thought I would give this place another chance since I've been coming here for 14 years prior to my last experience. I will never step foot in this trashy restaurant again. Then after ordering another 45 minutes to get out very simple meals. Here's what got me: THERE WAS A HAIR COOKED INTO MY EGG. Like a mans chest hair, it was long and curly. IHOP is known for its breakfast menu and pancakes and should remain that way (meaning their hot food items like their hamburgers and fried shrimp and salads are NOT worth it and will literally make you sick afterwards...however, their pancakes and breakfast items are good and won't make you sick, thankfully). Unfortunately, the IHOP in Alexandria has become a hangout for the local "thugs" and the staff can be VERY unprofessional (depending on your server). The inside is also dirty and needs to be cleaned more than it is already. If you want to eat here, go sometime in the daylight, because when it turns night time, then your meal will most likely be in the presence of loud, obnoxious, and "ghetto" people (especially passed midnight). And PLEASE DON'T GO to IHOP on the night of high school Prom or Homecoming or any other big local event, because EVERYONE goes to IHOP and you'll be waiting soooooooo long to get seated. This place is also NOT good for big parties, because most of the tables fit small groups. read more

The reviews that I had read reviews for this restaurant discouraged me from coming here. But having little in the house for breakfast this morning, and having a hunkering for pancakes, I decided it needed to take a chance and see for myself. I have been to IHOP many times before (in other cities) and had become a fan of the Harvest Nut n'Grain pancakes. They were as tasty as I had remembered them. I was greeted warmly, seated promptly, and served quickly. Even the coffee, about which I had had low expectations, was quite good (and hot!), served with an entire carafe left on the table. The restaurant was clean (the men's room was a little beat up, but no worse than lots of establishments of this sort) and the combo (which included eggs, hash browns - which were not as hot as they should have been, and bacon) was quite satisfying. Granted, it was a weekday morning....but this place does NOT deserve the rap it seems to have on this site. Note the dates; perhaps it once needed improvement but now, it's definitely a perfectly fine choice. read more
